That's a good news. CSC has been slacking off recently.
I read on VJ that some people just mail their DS-156 and Packet 3 checklist which is available online, to the consulate after a case is created at NVC. I would assume that this would expedite the process and beneficiary can get packet 4 directly, rather than waiting for a month or so. Has anyone heard similar things?

Same here....I've been waiting since Apr 17th. Nothing from NVC yet.
I heard from someone on VJ that computerized records aren't updated so often. I wonder if the computer age has arrived at the visa center yet. However, the letter said it takes between 2-4 weeks. I wonder if it's because of that new act...another masterpiece of genius politicians.

I am sure there will be more resources to process the petitions at NVC once the administration is done scanning citizens' phone conversations!!!

I had the similar situation after I filed my I-129F in Oct'05. When I called first, they asked me to wait.....and 4 months passed by. I called in Feb'06 and they mailed me a letter saying "The processing of your case has been delayed." due to some background check. In Mar'06, I called my congressperson and asked them to pursue the case. I don't know if it was a mere coincidence or effect of congressperson's help, but my petition got approved in 10 days after they sent in the inquiry to USCIS. Overall, it took 6 months though, for approval.
Good luck to you!!!
I would say, get the congressperson involved right NOW!!!
