  1. Hello all !!

I am bringing my two stepchildren who are 9 and 8, to come live to the US with their father and I. They are currently living with the grandmother in Dominican Rep who is their mothers, mom. My husbands ex gave the mom consent to be the guardian since she lives in Canada now. I need advice on whether I need to bring a consent letter to my interview signed by the mother or the grandmother, granting me permission to bring the children to live in the US with their father and me. They're interview is on Dec 21st.

Thanks in advance for your help :)

Hi, I brought my stepdaughter from the Dominican Republic early on September. We had all of the necessary documents regarding legal guardianship of her at the time of interview, but they didn't even bother to ask for it. But when they were leaving the country, IT WAS A REALLY BIG DEAL.. Make sure to have those court papers because the Dominican authorities are the ones that really need to see them.
  2. What does your ELIS account say?

Or you can call the USCIS for the IOE number.

I totally forgot that I created an account when I paid. I try to login, they already sent me an email with my username. Which is just my name, but when I enter it to reset my password, it says invalid username. Am I supposed to put something else besides my name? Like for example "johndoe@xxxxxxxx"?

  3. Same here. I arrived at JFK in mid Oct and still no sign for either SSN or GC. We called for both like 2 weeks ago but were informed it's normal to wait up to 60 days (!?) Unable to track online with the same error msg, if I understand it right the tracking # should be the one we got after paying fee, right?

Anyway, good luck and please keep us updated :)

Hi, you have to go to the social security office and apply. When I applied for my husband's visa, I also applied for the social, and when I noticed that a few weeks passed by and nothing, I decided to go there and inquire about it. Thank God I did. A week later, my husband and daughter got their social.

~~moved to general immigration with other like topics from IR1/CR1 process and procedures~~

It can take up to 6 months for the GC to arrive if you paid the fee before the beneficiary arrived. Generally it happens within 3 months though.

Tracking number should be an IOE receipt number.

If you don't get the SSN card within 2 weeks go to an SSA office and get one.

Hi... Can you tell me what IOE is? I am still unfamiliar with immigration codes, lol.

  4. Did you get a note/email/text saying the green card had been produced? You should be able to check the status of it on the ELIS website where you paid the IV fee.

Thank you for answering me.. Whenever I try to enter my case on the Elis website, it says "an error has occurred" I am completely lost. I have a confirmation number that email to me when I paid. I am planning on bringing that with me when I go the iscis center.

    I meant uscis center..

  5. Hello guys... I hope everyone is well and that workers at NVC are a little bit more helpful these days. I thought my nightmare with this whole process was over, but it is not. My husband and step daughter arrived to the U.S. Early on September, and still, no Greencard yet. My husband is working. He got his social security # with no problems, but we have not received the greencards yet. I called USCIS, and let me tell you, there are no choices in the phone menu for " new immigrant haven't received card in the mail yet"... The lady that helped me had no clue on what I was talking about. I made an appointment for December 7th on a uscis center, but I want to know if this is something normal lately.... Any suggestions and comments are welcome ☺️

  6. Good evening guys, my hubby and daughter are finally coming to the United States on Saturday! Yay! I have a very important question... My dad is renting a bigger appartment and we should all be moving in two weeks from now. How do I make sure that we receive the Resident Alien Card, SS# at the new address? Who do I contact? I don't want my husband to change it at POE because is not 100% sure that are moving yet. We put in an offer, and we are waiting for the answer. I just want to know ahead of time that way I know what to do.. Any information will be greatly appreciated ?

  7. I'm going thru the same process with my hhusband. I have a question, does he have to bring a copy of the petition package sent to NVC? forms, documents, affidavit of support, etc? also copy of the I-130 form? or is not necessary?

Thanks and congratss on getting approved

You don't need to bring a copy of the form I-130. I brought AOS forms, civil documents, photos of wedding and trips, medical records, ds-260 confirmation page, and some on. Basically, everything that I sent to nvc when i sumitted the documents to complete the visa application. In the end, they did not ask me for anything, not even photos! There are certain documents that are very important to bring. The cedula, the medical exam results, passport, and new police certificate. I hope I a, not missing anything but this website is really good. You can post your questions right before you do anything, there will always be somebody here to help you ?

use this site to pay online

each and everytime you log in they send a password number to your celll phone or email to access this system

you have to pay here online / they sent no receipt of payment to you but you can check if processed on the site

and give spouse the government tracking number

and agency tracking number plus amount paid

i had this information sent to my email when i did not get a former receipt so i could let my husband know these numbers

says it is advisable to pay before leaving the country / my husbands country demands it is paid / do not know but about yours

Hi, I used the link that you provided but my husband A# is only 8 digits after the A.. Am I supposed to write a 0 in front? Or another A? Please help... I am so confused..

  9. Hello my friends, I am trying to figure out how to pay the Ellis fee. I heard that once visa is approved and issued, there is a final fee of $165 to finalized the whole crazy immigration journey. As I am trying to book a flight for my husband, and daughter, I am wondering how that payment works. Do I have to pay that before they come to the U.S? Will I get billed? Or do I have to log into some website to pay the fee.. I am completely overwhelmed and loaded with so many questions.... PLEASE HELP!!!!!

  10. Go to the ceac.gov website, log in, go to the "Completed" hyperlink for the IV application, go to the "Sign" option on the top of the page, select "print form DS-260", print it to PDF format and save it on your desktop and then email it to yourself.

Thank you! I went to staples this morning and printed out exactly the way you told me! Yay!! I am setting everything up, and getting ready to go to the airport ☺️.. Thank you so much!

  11. I received an RFE and wanted to know if I could call to find out what it is for before receiving the letter or do i have to wait??

    thanks

There should be an outline telling you what they need from you. When my petition was at USCIS, I received a RFE, and what they say they needed was for me to sign my G-325a. I did it and less than a month later, my petitions were approved. If you don't see an outline, you can call USCIS and they might be able to tell you.. Good luck!

  12. There is no such feature. You are to bring the confirmation page to the interview.

Okay, that is great then.. Thank you for your help.

If you don't have a computer, maybe go to a library and use theirs and print it off there?

I don't trust public libraries to print out information that is so sensitive. I think that I am only going to bring the confirmation page.. Thanks for your input ☺️

  13. Hi, I am trying to figure out how to email myself a copy of completed DS-260 to bring to the interview. I don't have a regular computer, I just have a tablet. When I enter the ceac website, I am able to see the completed DS-260, but I can't find an option in which I can email it to myself or to my husband. I want to email it so I can print it out at staples. Am I missing an option on the website? If anyone has done from a tablet, please let me know so I can do it too ?

  14. We were married in DR in 2013, I moved back to the US in February 2014 and I only traveled back once in October 2014 for 3 days before this time for the interview. If you were working and stuff it's enough of an explanation, I only had 1 yr of taxes for the interview since I had only returned to the US to work and send in the petition. You should be fine with 5 trips, don't worry. Good luck!

    Thanks for the advice ☺️

  15. I have been reading pretty much every single U.S. embassy review in Santo Domingo, DR, and it seems to me that approvals were granted to people that appointments between 6:45 am, and 8:00 AM. Am I on to something here, or is it just pure coincidence? I heard that most of these visas are either approved or denied before one even gets to see the consular officer, and then it is up the CO to change the status of that.. Maybe I am just thinking too much, but it seems kind of odd that the time is so precise ????.

  16. Bring everything I know I brought like 4 albums 1 page a month of whatsapp convos that went back 4 years of us being together. Receipts of things I bought for him everything little thing

Thank you for input.. Can I ask you a question? You don't have to answer if you don't want to. How many times did you travel to visit him? I have traveled to the DR 5 times including this trip, since we got back together in 2012. Is that enough travel time? I hear so many people telling me that it is not enough, that it just adds to my worries. Thank you either you answer or not ☺️

  17. I know, we were really nervous too. But it was a great experience. All I can say is just act natural, we only replied to the questions they asked us, never gave more info than they requested and even though we talked over each other a few times, it was funny and reduced the tention since that's how a relationship usually is.

    Good luck!

Thanks for the advice and your wishes....

  18. We went to our interview yesterday, this is all we were asked for:

    -appointment letter

-copy of the appointment change email (for our case since they changed our appt via email)

-copy of the confirmation page for the D-260 IV application

    -new police certificate

    -new 2x2 pics

    -his passport

    -sealed medical docs

It's good to take more things but they will only ask for them if they need them, it seems, since they didn't even ask us for proof or pictures of the relationship...they just looked at the ones I sent with the original I-130 application over a year ago and then returned them. I took a 5lb file-folder

full of documents, pictures, phone records, etc and I never even opened it.

Good luck to you and your spouse!

Congratulations!! I forgot to add the DS-260 and medical records.. I am so worry because I am the kind of person that listens to everybody. I have people telling me that they are very strict, and they are going to harmmer us.... And I have people telling me that it is not a big deal. I am so worry ?.

  19. Hello VJ friends, I am very excited, and nervous about my upcoming interview for my husband's, and step-daugther's immigrant visa at the U.S. Embassy in the Dominican Republic. I have a list of documents that I have put together, but I am not sure if I am missing anything. I know I am going to get great suggestions here, so here is the list of what I am bringing with me. PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE TO LET ME KNOW IF SOMETHING IS MISSING!

    LIST OF DOCUMENTS:

-Birth certificate (husband, step-daughter, my daughter, and mine)

-legal document with my step-daughter's custody

    -Police clearance certificate

-School schedule (I don't know if I should bother with this)

-Letter of employment offer for my husband (I don't know if it is even worth it to bring it)

-Two scrapbooks with photos that I put together. One is the weeding album, and the other is trips that I taken there.

    - a whole bunch of lose pictures in which are mixed wedding, and trips taken there.
