  1. Hello everyone! Just want to share the news that my USEM interview went smoothly so I am currently waiting for my passport and my approved K1 visa. The Filipina Consul who interviewed me was very thorough. She asked me the following:

    (1) My Name,

    (2) Date of Birth,

    (3) Petitioner's Name,

    (4) How did we met?,

& (5) Why doesn't she have an ITR?

My fiancee is retired and her means of income is her pension which passed the Poverty Guideline. Anyway, after giving her some VA letters certifying my claims, she took m passport and she told me first to just wait and then she said I could just take a seat because she has to verify if it's ok that I'm not presenting an ITR. Anyway, after the long wait, my queue number flashed for the American Consul interview. The Consul was nice and only asked me this:

    (1) My Name,

    (2) How did I met my fiancee,

    (3) "As a member of the LGBT, I know you have experienced difficulty. Tell me your family's reaction when you told them that you are officially together as a couple.",

& (4) What are your wedding plans?

After answering all the question, she said: "Well, everything looks great. I have everything we need. Please take a seat and wait for our final instructions."

After 10 minutes, I was in line for the final instructions. I was given the appointment letter and was told that I could go home now and check online about when I can get my approved application and passport.

This is my USEM interview experience. :star::)

  2. All you need i believe is to explain the circumstances why he did not file ITR. In your case because his pension is not taxable. Im sure somebody on here has a first hand experience.

I believe that's all I can do. Thanks ChEd. :)

I did not provide a tax return for the same reason, I don't file as my income is tax exempt. The letter from the VA certifying income will be adequate as long as it show income to meet the 125% requirement of the I-864P, you can also provide the IRS Publication 915 worksheet, this will show "officially" no tax return is required to be filed.

Later you will have to do the same thing with AOS.

I have been googling about this topic for quite some time. Thank you for your reply. I will then compile the VA letters. Thanks for the help!

  3. Hi! I got my passport back in 2012 and I was a student back then. I went to the DFA main office in Pasay. What's important is the NSO birth certificate. NBI Clearance and the Philhealth ID will do. As long as it is a government issued picture ID, I think that will do. Try her luck at the main DFA and get it expressed priority. She will get it in no time. Do not lose hope. Keep trying.

  4. Hello everyone!

I will be having my USEM interview next week. I have a concern regarding the supporting documents for Form I-134. The petitioner is a retired US army and our means of income is the pension from the US government. My question is, the petitioner doesn't file taxes since the pension is non-taxable. I cannot show any income tax returns and any withholding tax statement. We only have this letter from the VA certifying that the we get this pension every month and the petitioner's annual income meets the 125% above the poverty guideline. Do I need other documents or what we have is enough?

    Thanks in advance.

  5. Try to call them again next week :) Goodluck Goodluck! Guess you'll be able to have your interview by november :)

Hello! Thanks! We had the case number a few hours after I posted. So we are waiting for the papers to be sent to the USEM then we'll be good to go. One step at time. :)

  6. Hello everyone!

I'm the beneficiary from Philippines. We have been together for five wonderful years and counting. We filed for the K1 Visa. Currently waiting for NVC to ship the petition to USEM so we can start the next process which is the Medical Exam and the Interview. It has been a nerve wracking experience. We know there's more to come, just taking tiny steps together. I am counting the days until I get to be with my beloved and start another adventure together, but by this time, as a married couple.

Have a good day everyone! (L)

  7. Hello! Same Sex K-1 filers as well. Currently waiting for the case number from NVC. We called NVC the other day and they said they do not have the case yet even though the papers were already forwarded by USCIS to NVC last September 10, 2014. I know, we should just wait. Hope everything goes well. We still got a long way to go. :clock:^_^

  8. Hello. We are an August K-1 Filer as well. Sent the package to USCIS last August 12, 2014 and got NOA1 on the 14th of August. On September 3, our petition was approved. As I check the status on the USCIS website, last September 10, they already sent the petition to NVC. We called the other day to NVC and they said we don't have a case number yet. We will follow up thru e-mail today. It's so hard to wait but all good things come to those who know how to wait.
