  1. Hello! I work during the business hours that the dmv is open, so I thought I'd ask on here in case any of you know.

My husband speaks and understands English pretty well, but he doesn't read or write well. I looked at the list of translators they provide at the DMV, but couldn't find any of his 2 other languages on there.

He speaks and reads Swahili and Kinyarwanda fluently. Is it possible to have a translator from either of these 2 languages help translate for the written Driver's License test?

Thanks in advance for any help!

  2. Hello-

My husband had his interview today, and was told to send his passport and an additional document to the embassy through DHL after we obtain the document. I went to register through DHL, and it is asking me to pay the $265 MRV fee. Is this required for a CR-1 visa applicant? I thought we already paid the fees (IV).

    Thanks,

    Jenah

Can anyone help with this question? Thanks in advance.

  4. My husband had his interview in Nairobi this morning. They gave him a yellow paper asking for:

Affidavit of Support from Petitioner or Co-Sponsor (Form I-864) or Finance Affidavit of Support (Form I-134). Submit with IRS- generated transcript of the return from the previous year attainable at: (irs website). Co-Sponsors should include copy of passport of legal permanent resident card. THEY CIRCLED "CO-SPONSOR" AND UNDERLINED "IRS-GENERATED TRANSCRIPT OF THE TAX RETURN FROM THE PREVIOUS YEAR". They also wrote (underneath in pen) 2012, 13, 14. In March, we got a checklist for filling out the I-864 incorrectly, so we sent a new I-864 with their 2011, 2012, and 2013 transcripts. But, now they want 2012, 2013, and 2014.

Problem is, my parents, the co-sponsors, haven't filed their taxes for 2014 yet. They did get an extension on their taxes and have until October this year to file. Can we send in the tax returns from 2012 & 2013, and then their 2014 W-2 forms with a copy of their extension approval for 2014? Also, I am in Kenya with my husband, so can my parents scan me over the new I-864 form they fill out?

Thanks for any and all advice. I'm super discouraged and upset. :(

  5. Hello wonderful VJ community. It's been a while since I have posted here.

You might know me from the spreadsheet, I'm the legendary "v4b" who has a scan date of 1/12/15.

Well, today (4/22/15) I got CC, after 100 days. I'm so happy because I got CC, I'm also happy because I broke the previous record (99 days) held by the respectable Ash2026.

Please update my info on the spreadsheet, and please, no need to add a note next to my name that says I'm a legend, okay well if you insist that's fine :P

Haha! Thanks for the laugh! :)

    So happy for you!!

  6. jenahrae,

Thanks for your response! I think I will close my eyes and dial that number tomorrow "just to check" if there is any update on the case. Let me know if you need any assistance/info about NRB for your hubby as that's my home town..LOL!

I am going to call as well tomorrow. So nervous! Haha! Kenya has a special place in my heart! I've lived in Kitale on and off the past 4 years, and my husband has lived there 6 years!!! :)

My checklist SD is also on March 30th and hopefully we will hear something by the end of this week.

    Fingers crossed!!!!!

  7. I am getting a little tense and confused in the process. So these people don't always send an email of the checklist right away? In that case how could you know you have one? My SD is 3/30 and I have seen cases reviewed for that date but I don't want to relax and hope for the CC while a checklist is on the way .

The way I found out I had a checklist the first time is by calling. I didn't get the e-mail for two weeks but had already sent the papers in that they told me I was missing over the phone. My new SD is also 3/30 (My husband will be interviewing at Kenya consulate, too, btw) so hopefully we will get some news within the next couple days!!! You can always call and ask for any information, however, I wouldn't stress (or try not too, haha) about it just yet. Wishing for the best for both of us!!!

  8. I found out 10 days ago that I got a checklist, and after one week without getting an e-mail I called again and they told me what I needed to send. I sent them in yesterday with the barcode cover sheet that I sent the first time. Of course, this morning I woke up to the checklist e-mail and it says I must include "this" cover sheet when submitting this form and a copy of the letter in the e-mail. Do I need to resend everything again? Or is the original barcode sheet I got okay to have used? Thanks in advance for your advice!

  9. I'm not sure where to post this, so please move this if it's in the wrong place.

I got a checklist last week, and they need me to send Proof of Employment. The lady on the phone said to either send a letter from my work or my most recent pay stubs/ statements. I have two jobs. For one of them, I am sending my most recent pay statement (my taxable marital status on that pay statement is married). For the second one, I went to go make a copy of the pay statement and saw that my taxable marital status is listed as single. I am having this changed at work today, but it won't reflect for another 2 weeks when I get paid again. Is the 'single' status going to cause a problem? Should I just send a letter of employment from that job? And if I do send a letter of employment from one and a pay statement from the other, would that be odd?

Stressing out about this, so any help or advice would be appreciated!

    Thanks :)

  11. Hi Everyone!

I'm a bit confused and would so appreciate some help. I am gathering my AOS package together and not sure which I-864 form I along with our joint sponsor should use.

I live at home with my parents and am sponsoring my husband to come to the US. I don't make enough due to the fact that I've been travelling back and forth visiting for 4 years. My mother and father (they are married) make enough to be a joint sponsor. Do we all 3 need to fill out a separate I-864 form? Could my parents fill out one form together? We all live in the same household. Do we use a different version of that form or just the regular one?

Thank you in advance for your advice!!!

    Blessings to all~

  12. Hey there! Just wanted to introduce myself and say "hi" to all of you May filers! :-) My husband is from Rwanda but has been living in Kenya for 5 years, and I am from California. We have been happily married since December 16, 2013, after meeting while on my first missions trip in 2011 and falling in love on my second trip in 2012. I filed our I-130 May 6, 2014 and received our NOA1 May 11. Our petition was sent to Nebraska Service Center. Praying for a speedy, smooth process for all of you... I know how hard it is to be so far from the ones we love, but before we know it we will be reunited and together with them forever! Best of luck, stay strong, and God bless!!

    Lots of love,

    Jenah (Emanuel's wife)
