I went on a vacation to Ireland to check out Dublin then off to Scotland to visit friends in Glasgow and Edinburgh. As soon as I got to my hotel, I saw some people signing (British Sign Language) across the bar in the hotel - one of which was the most gorgeous, tall, broad-shouldered babe I've ever seen in my life. My ASL (American Sign Language) is rusty, but the chance to talk to him seemed worth the embarrassment. Long story short, Jake and his friends were visiting from England, we were inseparable for my trip to Europe, I rerouted my plans to go to England to see him, and he proposed! We told our families and set a date for December of 2014.
About a month later, he came to visit me for Christmas in Las Vegas where I live on VWP. His flight was set to go back on his birthday in February, but we couldn't stand the idea of being apart again. We got married on the Las Vegas strip (Chapel of the Flowers - really quite nice!) on New Year's Eve. We debated returning to England, having Jake return to England on his own, and other options. Jake did not take his flight back to England in February, but instead we filed for an AOS Petition on March 24th, 2014 (overnighted to the Chicago Lockbox).
We have been married now for three months today, and it was honestly the best decision I have ever made. :) I hope all of our paperwork goes well!
