Got my passport yesterday - amazingly fast - 5 working days, still haven't recieved the citizenship certification. Passport is the new type with security chip and good for 10 years - better than the Canadian Passport which was issued only for 5 years.

Since you are mentioning new feature from the passport, I'm wondering whether I should order passport cover to block RFID random reading from my new passport chip or not.

Anybody ordered one already ?

Not me, didn't know they were available. My thoughts were if you lost your passport or it was stolen at the airport or something they could locate it. But I guess someone could steal your name and address etc or whatever else is on that tag. Anybody know whats on the tag?

Yep, and only 400.00 too. Id wait a while and then contact the passport office and ask when they were planning to send it back. Ask em why it wasn't sent back with the passport like other peoples.

Hey, we got ourrs back in 5 working days non-expedited. Mailed it on Saturday and got it the following saturday. The cert was in the envelope with the passport and only slightly bent not creased :-)

My wifes IO was from Newark. He said in the Newark office she would be sworn in right there. However, in Hartford, she had to wait a few days and go to the courthouse.

Congrats! May I ask what condition your Naturalization Cert was in when you got it back? I am a bit of a document nut and that one is particularily nice with the gold leaf and the engraving is awesome. I have a high rez scan of it and I'm sure the plates were engraved by masters.

Thanks everybody, Had the ceremony on Friday. Applied for a passport on Saturday. All done but they crying. Back to work on regular life again.

Why are you contacting that office if you have your NOA1's & Priority dates? Anyhow, looks reasonably straight forward to me despite the words simultaneously and earlier priority date etc. The information is fairly meaningless as the I-129 could slow down and the I-130 speed up.

Anyhow, In Connecticut, if you are an immediate family member of a fallen soldier you can get a special license plate with a gold star on it or something. Anyhow, they were charging 35 bucks extra for them. Get em while their hot!

This earmark crusade is a populist joke. Certain earmarks are stupid. Look at the whole list and 95% of it should be in other bills anyways. Its called negotiation. Some people deny that GW is caused by human activity. That’s understandable and you could probably convince me of that. But what’s striking is that many people also deny that global warming exists at all. The shrinking icecaps are not caused by global warming they are caused by spring? #######.. But you can't convince me that it’s not warmer on average now than it was 25 years ago. That’s just crazy talk. Look at the 5 year moving average here. Fix the dollar.. Good one. They can't fix it so they will make investing in its alternatives more difficult. My favorite part was the fact that they burn more fuel when they fly from place to place or drive a car. So a fat person in a Prius is worse than a skinny guy in a beamer. Ok.. whatever.
