  1. So i went to my AOS interview yesterday. Basic questions about me and my husband. The IO asked if i have travelled to the US before and i told him not yet and im 10000% honest with that. He ended our interview with a paper saying they will conduct more background check before they give a decision coz  they found 2 Alien Registration Numbers under my name? How can that happen? Shouldbt they have checked on that prio to my interview? Nobody petitioned me before or whatever. Whoelse knows about a case like this? And normally how long will they process this again?  Coz im not sure that i only have the same name with the the other A#. Coz the way the IO said it, he was saying its under all my identity. Thank you all so much for your input.

  2. Yey! God is soo good! :) we finally have our visas on hand. Thank you all for patiently answering all my questions throughout this journey. You all have been a very great help in easing my stress because of some things i didnt know before i stumbled upon this site. Special thanks to Hank and greenbaum who is always present on my thread. U guys are great and all the others who helped too! See you soon Uncle Sam! :)

  3. Whew! After an emtionally torturous journey, atlast we are already issued yesterday. Had our K1 and K2 interview last June 2. Was on AP for almost3 weeks due to my son's medical report was delayed but did not get 221g. How soon do u think i can receive my visa? Im from Visayas so i cannot pick it up and will just wait for the Delivery. Are weekends included in the 10day processing? I have read a lot here that no one can really say how long does the visa arrives but maybe u guys can give me the average time people feom VJ waited for theirs? Thank u all for ur advices and everything. It really guided me well throughout this journey :)

  4. What do u think about this Hank? Sorry for the lengthy words. I just want to be really detailed. Our k1 interview was last June 2.My medical was done May 15. My son has completed his medical last May 29. Theres a slight delay on his part since he got postive on skin test when we were there last May 15 so he was advised to have chest xray. Since it was already a friday, we were told to comeback the the following monday. Since we live in Negros, we went home coz i work too. I called st lukes prior our interview to ask if his chest xray is ok then they told me its negative. So we went back there last May 29 to have his immunization. That was a thursday. I reminded them that our interview will be in 3 days. And he said dont worry Maam we will forwarD it to the embassy this afternoon. I took his word for that. So its already June 2 and we passed our interview since the consul did not give us 221g form and kept all our documents. She just said that the only lacking docs that we have is his medical result coz it was not yet forwarded and i should not worry coz it will just take a couple of days. And i was advised to wait at the other counter. It was already 12:15nn. While were waiting, we were told to have lunch first and comeback at 1pm. So we went out had lunch and went straight to st lukes to personally talk to that person who told me he would forward my sons result on thirsday. Upon checking his computer, he found out that his medical was just forwarded to the embassy just on the morning of our interview so naturally it was not yet on the hands of the consul.

In short, we arrived at the embassy 45mins late of the 1pm they told us. I went straight to the releasing counter but was told our documents were filed again since they kept calling our queue number at 1pm. He just told me that he will just stamp our documents CLEARED meaning we went to that window already. I asked if he can see in his computer if we lack anything for compliance, he looked tired already and looks lime he doenst want to answer some of my clarification. He just said they will have to wait for the medical of my son. I was not really satisfied with his answer coz he looks like he was in a hurry already. He advised me to go the 2go counter to give our delivery address amd wait for our dox to be delivered.after that, he closed the blinds on his window. Since our interview was june 2, there was an update last june 3 that my status is still ready (about the interview thing) and my son on AP (about to submit any lacking docs required by embassy but we were not told about it). As of today no movement yet. I dont know what mistake have i done in the process. Im worried it will delay us long and i feel like im hanging in a limbo and in a black hole. Thanks everyone for your advises.

  5. Yes all K-1 are processed as an immigrant visa. The embassy is waiting for the medical file for your son is why his status is AP. Your case file will go to AP at some point as well, all cases are reviewed after the interview - that is AP. It can still be a few weeks, maybe a little longer being the embassy is waiting for a medical file. Relax. :)

Thanks hank. I always look forward to your answers on my queries coz somehow it calms my paranoid nerves. Hahaha

  6. hello. Me and my son had our interview last May 8 too. We were told that we're approved but will be in AP because my son's Medical Report's not yet submitted to them. The consul officer told me, there's nothing to worry about and just wait for our visa to be delivered. We didn't get any 221g letter. May 12, i decided to call St Lukes to ask about my son's medical report. I found out that his medical report was still there, and mine was submitted on May 5. I was so pissed that time cos why my medical report was submitted before the interview and my son's wasnt? He had no problem with his medical exam, in fact he only had few exams because he is just a toddler. I told them to submit the medical report as soon as possible and im glad they did submit it later that day. March 14, the consular officer who interviewed us received the Report already. And until now, my case status is still Ready for Interview and my sons' still AP. Hopefully we'll have our visa issued this week. Waiting sucks.

We have exactly the same situation. Our k1 interview was last June 2.My medical was done May 15. My son has completed his medical last May 29. Theres a slight delay on his part since he got postive on skin test when we were there last May 15 so he was advised to have chest xray. 7. Hi. I would just like to inquire coz im wondering why in the CEAC website, my case number could not be found when i search it on the non immigrant status. Since im on K1, i believe its under non-imiigrant. However, when i tried the immigrant status inquiry, i can see that my status is still Ready and my K2(my son) is on AP since june 3. We are done with our interview last june 2. We were not told that we are denied nor approved. I was not given a 221g and our all documents were not returned to me. The consul ssaid they are just waiting for the medical result of my son since we were done just 3 days (including weekend) before our scheduled interview. And she said dont worry coz it will just be a couple of days. Is it ok if our case is found under the immigrant visa? And why is my case still READY but his is under AP? Thanks for your inputs.

  8. I find it hard to believe that the Dr. confirmed you were TB positive (whether active or inactive TB with just using the skin test and then placed you on meds, it is common knowledge that the skin test will show positive result for the vaccination you took as a child cause this to be. Did the Doctor take chest x-ray or give you the sputum test for confirmation. Yes, you can tell St. Lukes about the skin test and give them the medical findings if you want, they will not recognize the doctors findings nor the treament course even if you had completed it. They will issue you TB Skin test regardless of previous ones as it is required by the U.S Embassy, you may fail it, they will then do chest x-ray and the 3 day sputum test, if nothing shows then you have a 2 or 3 month wait to see if positive TB culture grows, if it does then you will have to undergo 6 month of medication to be given to you daily at St. Lukes which requires you moving to Manila during this time.

If you pass the sputum test at St Lukes this means you do not have active TB, if it is inactive TB they will still allow you to pass as you are not contagious, once stateside you may or may not be referred to the health unit for further testing and possibly be placed on meds for 6 months to insure that it not become active TB.

My wife had the same problem, failed the TB skin test, took chest x-ray showed small scarring, she then did the 3 day sputum test, 1st and 2nd day sputum sample was good, the 3rd day it was sent for culture. She called St. Lukes at the end of culture on date told to do so and was informed it was negative and to come back in 2 days for completion of shots and physical and then to U.S Embassy K1 Visa interview.

    Hope this info helps

So even if your wife has a positive tst and a small scarring on the chest xray, was she still allowed to go to the US and have medication there? Coz im scared for my 6 y.o who also is tested positive for the skin test but negative in chest Xray. I worry that he may not be allowed to go to the US and medicate there. I dont know the outcome yet coz we will have our interview on June 19 on a K1 visa. Thank you for your feedback.

  9. If you stop taking your medication you will have to start all over again, I'm over here stateside, where I was born and raised. I've been going to the Philippines since I was a baby and had multiple PPD Skin Tests, once when I was a baby, once in high school which were both negative. Then I went in our local clinic about a month ago since I was caught whatever the local cold/flu bugs which were floating around. While in there I was asked to take another PPD and the results came back borderline positive/negative. Rather being safe than sorry I; like yourself, was given a prescription for anti-TB for 6 months. I have a 4 year old cousin who came here to the US from the Philippines when she was 2 years old, she was also tested(positive) and is currently undergoing a 9 month treatment session. One way or the other you'll have to complete the prescription whether in PI or US. Just because the virus isn't currently active doesn't mean it can't become active sometime in the future, hence the precautionary measures taken. Taking preventitive measures are better than getting treated if it becomes active and you spread it to all of your loved ones, just saying. TB is taken very seriously here in the USA even missing one day of your medication during the 6 month period is considered a big NO-NO. This isn't the type of medication you can slack off on you have to be consistent at taking your medication on time. They won't prescribe additional refills unless you go in for regular checkups and bloodtests

Hi. I would like to ask coz my 6 y.o son has also tested positive for TST but negative in chest xray. Will they allow my son to enter US and have his medication there instead? Thank you

  10. A positive reaction to the TBT test is a firm red bump at the site within 2 days. Measuring the redness will give the physician the results. The results of this test must be interpreted carefully. The person's medical risk factors determine at which increment (5 mm, 10 mm, or 15 mm) of induration the result is considered positive. The reaction should be measured in millimeters of induration (palpable, raised, hardened area or swelling). They do not measure erythema or redness.

I can't comment on if he does test positive whether he can do the medication once he arrives in US. SLEC and USEM will determine that.

His results have no barring on your visa. Your visa and his visa stand on there own merits.

IMHO, I think you are getting ahead of yourself with many worries. It's normal but it can add undo stress to your life. Right now there is nothing you can do so take each step and deal with the issues as the appear. You sound like a very caring mother. Your son is in good hands with you. Stay positive and you will get through this.

I am glad you were able to get your appointment for his exam with your Doctor. I wish you and him well.

So sad but his TST really came back positive. The doctor measure it as 17mm. I really cried infront if the Doctor coz i was scared. The doctor said that my sin will undergo chest xray and she is 98% sure that his xray will be ok. I also confirmed with her if even my sons has tested positive for tst but negative for chest xray, will he still be allowed to go to the US? She said yes. That made me fekt relieved for awhile. Since it was already friday when his tst was read, it was already 330pm when he took his chest xray. And we were advised to comeback 430pm but when we came back, we were still told that results cannot be claimed that day because the the radiologist where already out. I asked them if maybe they would know whats the result for my peace of mind. Since our interview will be June 19, they said that its ok if we come back on June 17 for my son's immunization. When i heard about the immunization, i was thinking that he will be cleared coz i think u will not be immunized if u have problems that needs to be medicated. Am i right? If the medication is highly dependent on the decision of SLEC and USEM, can i fervently request them to let us go and medicate in the US instead? Does it depend on how i request them? Since we are living in the province, its really not practical to have his medication in the embassy since we dont have relatives in manila, my work is kn the province and his school is in the province. Maybe they can understand aince we dont have many money to spend living in manila. I know im thinking negatively but i just want to be prepared as early as now and maybe all u guys have an idea on what to do about my case. Thank you all so much. Appreciate all ur advice.

  11. Thanks everyone for your reply. I know that my son will not be a threat to society and im positive that he will have a good feedback with regards to his evaluation and im happy that at last i was able to get a schedule for evaluation on May 24. :) atleast we are still within our schedule of interview on June 19.

This is already irrelevant to my 1st co concern but maybe i can i sert this question here. Today is the 48th hr of my sons TST and it seems that he has a reaction :( he has soreness on his forearm. Its red. The induration is not really big. I cant estimate how many mm it is and it not really raised too. My question is, since he is still 6 y.o and doesnt have any physical evidence of active tb like coughing, etc. Is it possible that he will be allowed to enter the US and have his medication there? Coz i heard someone like that and they were allowed. Is it a matter on how i ask for an approval from the doctor about that? We are living in negros occidental. My work and my sons school is there. I dont have money if ever they will require us to stay in manila for the medication. U think i can request for that? I was also surprised why he has a reaction coz he is very healthy. Dont have cough and never known to have contact with person with TB. My medical exam goes well so if he is infected, it should also reflect on my test right? Thank u again everyone. U guys have all been a great help to me.

  12. If they see a significant functional impairment, they are permitted to do that. It is under the banner of may cuase harm to himself. You may be looking at a bit of a delay here to get this done.

I can't tell you if you will get denied. You know your son better than any of us do. Hopefully the doctors you see will determine that he can function adequately, will advice St. Luke's accordingly, and that will be the end of it;.

    [/quote

Actually if u loom at him u wont know that theres a problem with but the doctor in the immunization area notice coz we he talked he stutter slightly coz he has mild language delay. Other than that he is ok. He is not self destructive, he's got emotions and currently goes to school with regular students. If thats the case and he does not hurt himself and can answer when asked, u think theres no problem with the embassy? Coz i was thinking that the US embassy might see him a liability in the US which i believe is not. Hope that helps.

  13. Hi fellow VJers. We are on 2nd day of medical exam in st. Lukes Just waiting for the TST result of my son tomorrow. One more thing is that my son in the spectrum of autism(high functioning).the doctors noticed that when they were interviewing usso they asked me about it. Good thing i brought his old records. They said that they cannot release his medical exams unless we have a recent evaluation from a neuro developmental psychologist. Our last test was 2012. They only honor 2013. I called all possible Developmental Pedia but their earliest schedule is july-december. Our interview at the embassy is June 19. :( my question is, is it really relevant for our visa interview? Is there a possibility that we will be denied because of my sons condition? Is that a big factor for our K1 visa? Pls give me an ideas what happens on my case. Thank you so much!

  14. Suggestion to minimize his wait: If you get there earlier you get a better place on line and shorter waits all day. Can you get there yourself maybe 2 AM to get a super good place on line and then have someone else bring him to you at 6AM, right at the time that you go in?

Also can you make it the 15th? I hear the shortest lines are on Thursdays.

I am travelling alone with him since airfare for another companion will be really expensive already. Just incase i go in at 2am and have my priority number with me, can i go out again and be back at st lukes with my son with me before they open? Atleast i have our priority number already and atleast we are there bfore they officialy open. And yes, actually my plan was to really be there on thursday but since he is required to have skin test and that takes 48hrs for the result, i decided to go straight to st lukes when we arrive on wednesday 11am. You think that time is still ok for us to go there directly? I hope u could answer my other queries. Thanks al

  15. Hi guys im here again. Finally its our medical exam on May 14 at St.Lukes medical center. My question is, do they offer priority number for special cases? I know that there's a loooong waiting time inside st lukes. My concern is my 6y.o son. He is mildly autistic and hyper active. Well he is sensible most of the time and can undertsand situations but he gets tantrums if he gets bored and seems to wait too long. Well i guess regular kids his age gets aggravated waiting for a very long time, how much more with his condition right? Ive readied his book, toys, and ipad to keep his attention while waiting but i cant say how well will it go while we are waiting inside. I read some have waited for 3hrs!. If thats the case, and i have medical reports from his developmental pedia that he has that condition, will they prioritize us? Because in DFA for passport processing they have a system like that. Hopefully st.lukes is the same. Thank you for your inputs.

  16. Thanks everyone for your reply. Our flight is on wednesday and will be arriving in manila at 10am so i guess we will go straight to st lukes for medical so that we still have time to wait for the tuberculin skin test result coz we will be flying back home on saturday. So i guess 2 1/2 days is enough already?

  17. Good day again fellow VJ'ers. I have a question again about me and my 6 year old son's upcoming medical exam om May 14. Is it really required for the both of us to undergo tuberculin skin test even if both of us has not been in contact anywhere near people with TB? Ive becoming paranoid lately about the test coz even though we dont have the symptoms, im scared there will be an inconclusive results which will delay our time. Are there people exempted from having that test? I mean if we are healthy looking, is it possible that we wont be having that? Thank you for your responses, that will surely ease out my tension. :)

  18. Right now we really dont have a concrete plan where the wedding will be or the dat etc. The interviewer might ask if we have invitations already for pir wedding if ever i will be approved. I dont knkw what to answer coz that might be taken against me and my chance for approval. Coz honestly right now that is not on our mind yet coz ouf concentration is to pass the medical and interview. We alreason that planning of our wedding can be done once im there coz for sure we will not have a grand wedding. We where thinking of getting married in las vegas white chapel just like her cousin did. That sounds fun. Do u think its alright for me to day we plan to get married in vegas a month after im already settled there? Would that be ok since they might not take the vegas weddi g seriously coz i think mostly gets divorced right away from a "wedding in vegas" haha

  19. Are you all ready with your requirements, including passing the medical exam?

My experience -- Last December, my appointments went from April 24 to Jan 9.

Afterwards, I had to do sputum exam so my Jan 9 appointment was cancelled by St. Luke's. I went back after 2 months, March 18, and on the days before (March 16,17) the website had been saying there were no appointments available (so i was panicking).

When St. Luke's was rescheduling my interview on the 18th, I got lucky and a March 24 schedule opened up. The girl told me she had been giving out May appointments before me.

My point is - it's really unpredictable. Today it's full, tomorrow someone cancels and a spot opens up. This whole process takes a lot of patience and a bit of luck.

Thanks for your inputs. Why it took u 2months to comeback? Is that really the waiting time for the sputum test? Im not fone with me medical yet. Hopefully everything will turn out well. Im schedule for a medical exam on May 14-15

  20. I concur with Hank's advice 100% based on my own experience. The date you got is average as far as wait times go. I booked a month ago and got May 20.

Right now Typhoon Yolanda victims are getting prioriy. Normally the wiat is not this bad.

You made the right choice grabbing the date you got before that one vanished. Just keep watching if somewting earlier opens ujp.

Thanks Al. Yesterday I saw an open schedule for May24. However i was hesitant to push through with it because apparently you have to cancel your original schedule 1st before you can reschedule for the available one. I did not do it because i was scared that maybe by that time that ive just cancelled my original schedule, somebody might grab that schedule then il be left with nothing. If only they will allow us to schedule a new one bfore we cancel the original schedule just to be safe... any advice?

  21. ya, yer calendar is messed up.

From the date that he last saw you,

to the receipt date in the NOA-1,

    what's the span of time/days/months?

Answer that one, we can help you..

We received our NOA February 4 2012. He came to visit me January 2012 and went home Feb 22. So i guess we are within the dates required?

  22. Hi all. Im on a K1 visa and will undergo medical exam next month and my interview date is june 19. I just have a question, since it was stated in the K1 visa rules that i should have met my fiance within 2 yrs of filing for fiance visa, the problem is the last time we last saw each other was Feb 2012. That was more than 2yrs now. He visited me here Jan-Feb 2012. But prior to that he came over to visit me here in the philippines 3 time. He was not able to visit me here again since we plan to file fiance, we decided that might as well save money for our processing and for our future than spending $$ for his tickets and vacation here coz normally he spends $3000 whe. He comes for a visit. That includes his ticket and everything else already. Now since we are nearly done with our processing, is it a big deal for the interviewer that we havent met personally again since feb 2012? Although i have proof that we talk and chat everyday. Pls advice. Thanks in advance
