  1. Hopefully someone can help.. God know the USCIS "Help line" couldnt!

I need to file my husbands affidavite of support for his AOS. The only problem is that I couldnt file my taxes this year because he didnt have a ss# and couldnt get the temperary one because he was eligable in the next few months to get a ss#. Due to lots of travelling, last years taxes are the only nice ones showing supporting evidence that i make any money. But they are not filed. Can i use my W-2 to show my income rather than unfiled taxes? They do say if you cant provide them, then explain. But does that mean for something else? Im very confused.

I made well above he poverty line last year. I would like to file without a co-sponser. Does anyone have Any advice??? I couldnt get an appointment with an immigration officer for 2 weeks. I feel like its wasted time.

    Thanks guys!

  4. You need it for the interview but i highly suggest you start getting it asap. You never know how long it will take.. sometimes months. If you lived, studied, or travelled in any other country for more than a year.. you are considered residing there. Some countries can take MORE than many months to give you a report or clearance. I suggest not waiting to do anything.

    good luck

  5. Does anyone know if this sounds right??

My husband and i have been waiting for a police clearance for 3 months now from Malawi. We told the Vancouver consulate this and they said to get a letter from the Malawi embassy stating how long ago we have applied for the clearance that they are not sure when it would come. Is this going to be good enough? Ive been told that it is up to the actual officer that we talk to whether this is ok or not. Does anyone know if it will be?? Everyone says the interview is a breeze.. as long as you have everything on the checklist..

Im scared to go there and they say its not ok. The Malawi embassy said it would be no more than a month.. its been 3 and they have nothing to say about it. We all know the story.

If you know anything, let me know..

  6. This may sound stupid... but for the DS 230 they ask all the places you lived for more than 6 months. The embassy told me it ment all the places you lived/travelled/studied for 6 months or more. Now.. for the police clearance, that does not also mean that you need one for all those places too? It does say all the places you lived.

My husband travelled thru japan for 1 and 1/2 years.. He wouldnt need a police clearance would be from there, right??? That would be ridiculous if you would need one from a place you just travelled through. How would the police even have anything about you?

    Im so confused!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    thanks for your advice

I guess I dont understand.. I dont see how they would even know anything about him if he was just travelling. And then.. he was in Malawi in africa for 9 months.. so that means he needs to try to get something from africa?? Wow.. if anyone has ever been there, they know the pace of things getting done is ridiculous!!

So basically he has to get them, there is no option?

  8. Hey,

Im just looking for some quick explainations of what happens and what to do once my husband gets here.

Im assuming apply for adjustment of status once he gets here.. but then what?? Is it true he cant get a job for almost 3 months?? And cant get a drivers license until he gets the approval to work? Does he have to wait to get a ssn to get a drivers license?? Im so confused. I thought it was much easier!!!!!!!!!

    Any thoughts would be appreciated!

    Thanks

  9. Hi,

Does anyone know about the police clearance in Vancouver? Since it needs to be translated into English, this means that you can hand it into them during your interview, right?? You can go to the police and get it yourself. Does it have to be notarized? Im assuming the translated one needs to be official? How do you do that, the notary??

    Thanks
