  1. I thought it was 125% but maybe it's different for k1s. Either way, it's probably a percent OF the poverty line, not above. So it's not so bad. Obviously it's better to have a tax return that shows income, but you can prove it other ways, like an employment contract or pay stubs, if it's a new job.

I also believe that it's a different form for support on a k1, not the 864. 364 maybe? Something like that. And I seem to recall that you can still get a joint sponsor on a k1.

Actually you're right, I'm pretty sure it is 125%! Thank you so much for your help, makes me feel a lot better :)

    Why not self sponsor?

I'm sure that is how we're going to go about it, but it's nice to know there are alternatives :)

Current income is key. At least one day on the job.....but really should have about three pay summaries.....and a letter from the employer to tie it all together.

That really helps me get a better grasp of the picture.. It's just nice to know that we wouldn't have to wait a whole years to get a full annual salary before applying. I understand that at the same time it's best not to rush though, so thank you!!

  2. Hi there! I'm new to the forum and just wanted to ask something I can't seem to find a solid answer for..

So I understand that you need to be able to support your other half, and the minimum income you should be earning is 100% above the poverty guideline - but how long do you need to be under employment for in order for this to work?

Both me and my girlfriend are recent graduates, so haven't had a great amount of time to earning a decent salary - from what I assume, the host would have to have at least a years worth of previous income in order to qualify? Or can it be less than that if it's under contract?

    Thank you for reading!
