  1. Does anyone know how long it is taking the embassy in Guangzhou to send the passport to CITIC bank. It's been 2 weeks today and still no word, only thats it's being processed for delivery

  2. My step son just got his visa interview and was successful , he has a question that I can't answer and I was wondering if anyone could help? His Chinese name is almost unpronounceable in English, he was thinking he could change to an English name upon his entry into the US on his green card. Is this possible? thanks

  3. Does anyone know the answer to this question:

My step son, who is Chinese, is almost at the interview stage in his visa procedure. He currently is in college in Canada and his mother(my wife) has her permanent resident card and is here with me in the USA. My question is , can he get his visa interview in the American embassy in Canada, since it will be hard for him to get back to China until next summer. He has all the original documents that he will need. thanks

  4. My wife was interviewed on June 25th, visa issued on June 26th. We chose the CITIC bank by the American Consular office to pick it up since I was told that it was the main clearing house for all passports, which they then send to other branches in China. So in theory you should be able to receive the passport quicker. As of today July 3rd our notice says been its been received by the consular dept and is being prepared for delivery. Now Friday is a holiday so the best we can hope for is a delivery to the CITIC bank by Tuesday or Wednesday almost 14 days from issuance. (4 days were weekends and 1 holiday) I have to return to USA so my wife will have to wait in Guangzhou for another couple weeks before coming to USA. Good thing she has a friend there to stay with.

  5. My wife's interview was scheduled at 8:15 am today at Guangzhou. We arrived at at 7:30 at 7:45 they allowed the 8:15 interview people in to line up for security. By 8:15 she was inside by 9AM she was done and outside waiting on me with approved visa. She said they asked her about 10 questions in both Chinese and English. examples were,

    where did we meet

    where did she learn english

what was she planning on doing when she gets to USA

how many kids do I have

How many kids does she have

when do I plan on retiring

Nothing hard at all, only paperwork they needed extra was my 2013 Tax returns

didn't look at pictures or the stack of emails and texts she had printed out

She said they were very friendly and polite.

  6. I've researched this topic and now I'm confused. Can anyone clarify for me the following

I checked at CEAC website and it shows case READY, but it's been that way since 4/8/14

I've yet to hear anything from Guangzhou about either scheduling an interview or having an interview date scheduled for us. I wrote them an email last week, but I know it's a holiday in China currently and don't expect to hear from them until next week at the earliest.

My question is should we set up our own interview on CGI Stanley, without getting a letter from Guangzhou because it says DO NOT do that until you are told, but I've read other people saying they did it anyway. We are registered and it shows the next available interview date on their main page but we haven't attempted to actually set up a date because I don't want to piss them off if we aren't really allowed to set a date ourselves. (CR1 visa)

    thank you for any help

  7. OK our case was held up in customs for only 7 days ( so that's good ) and now it's been delivered to the US Consulate in Guangzhou. Does anyone know the next steps. It's for a CR1 case.

  8. Ok I went to us travel docs and logged in to select an appointment date, got to the passport ID section and it wants my wife's name in Chinese characters, which I can't do, so she needs to fill out the form from her home computer in China. It says on the website that the first appointment is April 22nd. My question is , can she make an appointment without us receiving a letter saying to make the appointment? Or is that standard operating procedure that the letter may come later. We do have that message on the DOS website that says our case is ready for an interview. If she is allowed to schedule an interview, it won't hurt our case will it

  9. When I checked the Dept of State website and put in our case number I received a message saying that your case is ready for your interview when scheduled at the US Consular section. If you have already scheduled an appointment for an interview, please prepare your documents as directed in your appointment letter and appear at the consulate on the appointed date and time. Otherwise, please wait until you have been notified of your interview appointment.

Does anybody know exactly what this means , I tried CGI Stanley and was unable to schedule an interview.

    Thanks

  10. I used--- EXP 04 april 2014A and used days 03-06 as search range I can't find anything on DHL. tried other times to see if I got any hits at all from anybody. Nothing , does anyone know what I'm doing wrong on tracking packages from NVC to GUZ

  11. Our case was listed as complete on 3/22. Called NVC today and was told case file was scheduled to be mailed on Friday. Too late for EP. I think I'm screwed with all the delays at customs I doubt we hear anything for months. Is there a way to track the package and see when it arrives in China. I wish I would have found this forum before I decided not to opt in for EP.

  12. I talked to a person at NVC. She told me that the case is already complete now and the interview will be set up in the next 3-7 business days. She told me my wife should have her interview scheduled for late April to the first week of May. They said I don't need to do EP. So that's good.

  13. Sorry to bother everyone again but I made a mistake on an earlier post.

So let me correct my mistake and lay out my case and see what I should be expecting.

1.Feb 27th 2014 NVC send me a IV processing Invoice

2.March 4th 2014 confirmation email was received of the payment

    3. DS-260 was emailed and accepted at the NVC on March 5th 2014

    4. I received an email stating that they had my form and needed my original civil documents.

    5. I fedex'd them not EP'd that same day and they received them on March 6th.2014

    So my questions are:

    1. How long is the normal wait time until I receive a case complete email? I heard 20 business days?

    2. After that email, will I receive another email stating our interview date in GUZ or will I have to go on CGI Stanley and set up my wife's interview?

    3. Last question, does anyone know the current wait time for the interview to be scheduled?

    Thanks Jerry & Shuhui

  14. WHEN YOU GET YOUR INTERVIEW DATE, DOES IT ALSO HAVE A SPECIFIC TIME FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT OR IS IT FIRST COME FIRST SERVED AT THE EMBASSY- THANKS

  15. Can I set up my wife's account for her at ustraveldocs.com/cn or does she have to do it. I am having trouble explaining to her about the part that requires her to type in scrambled letters to insure that she's not an autobot. thanks

  16. Are you saying she needs a certifited copy of my divorce record even though I sent that info in a long time ago. We were married in the US, so the marriage certificate is from where I live in Las Vegas not a white book like her documents are in. Also when does she set up her account with CGI Stanley for the document delivery. After the case is listed as complete or anytime? Thanks for the help.
