Hi

I'm a British woman who recently became engaged to a British man who has lived in the US for 23 years. He has Legal Permanent Resident status, got his green card many years ago and is currently starting his citizenship application.

We are now looking at the K-1 visa for me to come live with him and marry in the US.

Having looked around this forum and researched immigration laws and procedures I have to admit I am a little dismayed at the length of time everything takes. I really just want to be with him as soon as possible and for the rest of my life. I even looked to see if it would be quicker for us to marry first then 'import' me but got a little confused by some of the things I read. I know there are no short cuts, but I just want to be with the man I love and not be apart for another year or so.
