  1. My fiancee stayed at the Comfort Hotel the first visit to Nairobi which at the time was about $ 45 a night. She said the hotel was ok but if you do not know Swahili or the area which my fiancee (Ugandan living in Kampala) does not, they will exploit your ignorance by making deals with services that provide them kickbacks. The second stay, I put her at the Diamond Plaza Apartments which were much better but cost about $ 70. The nice thing was it had a kitchen so food costs were not as high. The only problem we had there was the fact that I had paid on-line through a booking service and they did not know how to handle getting paid. If you book with them, make sure not to pay up front. FYI, my fiancee's medical took 4 days to complete, then another 3 days for the doctor to prepare the report for the consulate. Our Journey was great up till finding out that Nairobi was the only immigrant issuing facility in East Africa. Since she is not Kenyan, and everything needs to be done in Kenya (payment only accepted at Post Bank Kenya or Safari Com Kenya; Medical only valid in Nairobi or Mombasa; and the fact that you can't go home until you have passport in your possession) everything is 10 times more complicated than it needs to be specially since her home is literally 10 minutes from a US embassy in Uganda.
