  1. Hey all,

So we have our interview coming up, I was just wondering if we need copies of documents we've already submitted for the interview. Some are listed on the mail notice we received, but said not needed if we've already submitted.

Things have gone so fast for us, I'm thinking (hoping) there won't be too much trouble. We have EAD/AP approved with no RFE and in around 60 days I think. Anyways, just wondering if people have had nasty experiences with this or not.

Ultimately I think always better safe than sorry. But just looking to hear of some experiences.

  2. Sounds like there's you and your wife, along with a friend? I think the friend would have to be a joint sponsor unless he lives with you. Your income is whatever you make from your job that you can substantiate with evidence. So you and your wife would fill out an I-864 with an I-864a. And then your friend would fill out a separate I-864 claiming to be a joint sponsor. You will need tax returns along with additional evidence (letter from employer etc) to give proof of income.

  3. Well, honestly I never remember it being explicitly stated that you needed it, but I threw it in anyway just to be safe. We don't want any delays.. and it's a legal government document so it seemed relevant, I included it with everything.. I figure.. more can't hurt.. right?? Also, I only included my most recent one, but I'm pretty sure they want copies of previous ones too.. anywho hope the latest one will suffice otherwise will get RFEd. but honestly there was so much paperwork I'd be surprised if we didn't get RFEd

  4. Yes I filed it for my wife without a lawyer. Gosh, really, what a trip. I also think the I130guide2 should be updated, especially regarding the I765 and I131. Apparently there are more documents you have to attach that are not listed on the guide. Fortunately I read through it all in the papers, but would have made my life a bit easier if they had mentioned it there. Also, they didn't mention the fact that if your spouse is on I-20, to include all copies of that. But anywho, overall it was tough! But got it done, organized and put it together. Will keep updating as the process unfolds. Fortunately I have 3-4 other friends who've all gone through the same process so it's been nice to be in touch with them too..

  5. Hey all,

I am petitioning for my wife. I am a USC, I have my passport but it expired last year. Will they give trouble? Or is it enough to substantiate USC with that expired passport alone??

I don't want to go through the trouble of getting birth certificate. And I'd rather not bother with renewing my passport as I'm not going to travel for a while. We want to submit forms now as her current work authorization ends soon, passport takes 4-6 weeks and I'm too strapped for $$$ to expedite anything, nor can I be bothered to fill out yet another form! =P

    Thanks.
