  1. Thanks!

I have never heard of the other person giving permission for someone to file as co-sponsor - there isn't any place on the forms, that I know of, for that, so yes, the answer is no. smile.png

    Should be OK then.

For the status question, I think I found the answer somewhere else: birth certificate or passport to prove citizenship. Passport works for me.

  2. Ah, my bad for not checking. Yes, it's just for your fiance this time. smile.png

As for the co-sponsor, I don't understand what you mean by "approving the application"?

I meant would the joint filer have to give the OK about the cosponsor's sponsoring of my fiancée since the tax return is joint? I think the answer is no, but I want to make sure.

By the way, it looks like we're at almost the exact same stage! Good luck with everything.

  3. The passport-style photographs accompany the G-325A form, which is necessary for both petitioner and beneficiary, so you both need to submit them.

Yes, I already submitted them for that step, but I'm talking about the Packet 3 checklist item. Do you know anything about that?

Sorry I keep finding random questions, but I just have my main "status in US" question left and one about tax returns as support for my cosponsor's I-134. If they are a joint filer, would the joint person be required to approve the application? My cosponsor brings in the majority of the income.

    (Moderator hat off)

The beneficiary is free to fly domestically. However, if you're driving within a 100-mile radius of either U.S. border (especially the southern), be aware of inland CBP checkpoints. Be sure to have the most updated available information with you -- a valid I-94 is fine, and after that, the NOA1 for the AOS filing, or at least a copy of the cover-letter for that package. I had Mrs. T-B. carry a copy of our marriage certificate with her until she got her green card.

Thanks T-B for moving it appropriately! We'll keep that in mind and make sure to be prepared.

    See my response in red:

Thanks Boggy. I will make copies of these documents as well for extra security.

Any ideas on the status in US question?

  5. In which part of Packet three does that come up? Looking at my DS-160, and checklist, I don't see anything asking for proof of the US citizens residency or status. I would think that had been covered within the I-129f application.

As faras I know, Montreal accepts co-sponsors on a case-by-case basis.

Well, in the checklist there is a request for "Evidence of petitioner’s domicile in the United States". I was looking ahead at Packet 4 actually for the "K‐1 FIANCÉ(E) VISA INTERVIEW CHECKLIST" which requires "Copy of the U.S. petitioner status in the USA" as well as "Copies of documents proving petitioner’s U.S. domicile".

Thanks, I hope the cosponsor helps in my case.

  6. I suggest you look at the reviews for the Montreal Embassy to see the experiences other members have had with that embassy.

I'm not sure about your domicile questions, but I do know that she's free to fly domestically inside the US.

Thanks! I will see where I can find reviews of the consulate too then.

I would appreciate if anyone can answer the other questions.

  7. Hello all,

Thanks for your wonderful site and the great info we were able to find here. My fiancée and I are at the Packet 3 step right now and I have a few questions I would appreciate answers to.

    • What evidence is sufficient to prove my domicile in the US? Is a copy of my lease and some bills enough?
    • What about the evidence of my status in the US? What does that mean exactly?
    • Finally, once in the US, can my fiancée travel freely by plane within its borders?
Also, another general question. We will be using the consulate in Montreal. I have heard that not all embassies and consulates accept cosponsors for the I-134 form. Does anyone know if this one accepts them?
Thanks a lot for your help!
