Is it ok if I go to a different field office even if my field office is in Chicago? I live 3 hrs away from Chicago, and they don’t have available appointment anymore for the next 2 weeks and my extension letter is expiring on the 12th of this month. I would really like to just go to St. Louis or Indiana, those places are 2 hours away from us and they have available dates this week and next week for appointment.

I am not sure if every state are the same but if you go to the uscis website where you can find your supposed to be field office base on your zip code it will tell you what Office you should go to. I am from San Bernardino county here in CA i tried booking for an appointment in L.A because for some odd reason it's so hard to book an appointment in my supposed to be field office which is san bernardino. and so i was able to book an appointment for L.A went there and told me that they couldn't accept me because i am not from LA i should only go to san bernardino because that's where my zip code belongs to if that makes any sense! But you should definitely double check because you wouldnt want to waste time and money like I did. Just an advise it could be different in chicago so I would definitely double check.

  2. hey everyone just want to let everybody know specially my fellow August filers that we got the approval letter earlier this month actually dec.15 to be exact we got our approval letter saying that our petition for removal of condition has been approved and we shall wait for the green card within 60 days, but to my surprise 3 days later I GOT MY 10 YR GREEN CARD in the mail. We were so happy! it's the best christmas gift ever!!! a year and 4 months of wait is so worth it, we didnt get any RFE's thank god! its just the long wait that makes my anxiety level go up but all in all it was a good battle you guys. Now our next and final step CITIZENSHIP and we can officially say we are done!!

Per my experience if you getting in to a new job some employers tend to reject the letter. The stamp on the passport will be accepted.

If you already in the job most of them won't check periodically.. I know there are some especially hospitals

thank you and yes i am getting a new job thats why im panicking since my gc is still in process.

They cannot demand to see your green card, your extension letter or the stamp. They are legally obligated to accept a driver's license (or State ID if you don't drive) and your SSN. If they do not accept this, they are breaking federal law. If they tell you you will be fired after your Green Card expires, they are breaking federal law. If they ask to re-verify you after your Green Card expires... yeah, you guessed it.

Driver's license and SSN. That's it.

ohh okay so i dont even need to show or bring the extension letter or greencard? thank you for your time replying i appreciate it a lot :)

  5. Hi, my extension letter from uscis expire last august of 2017, now my question is what will i show my employer if they need a proof that i am legally allowed to work here specially if they specify that it shouldnt be expired and if i did get my passport stamped (scheduled my infopass) will that be enough proof to retain my job or accept a new job?

  6. Hi everyone GOSH! 2 YEARS since the last stalking moment here in VJ. so excited to be back haha. any ways to my fellow ROC Fillers do you have any idea whats the time frame? i filled mine august 2016 had my biometrics October and no update since then.. i heard between 5 mos to a year to receive either approval or RFE or interview is it right?

  7. Cupcake is correct, you can submit ROC as early as 90 days before the 2 year green card expires. Once you've submitted your paperwork you're basically in a grace period, so if the 2 year card expires but your ROC is pending in their system you're still ok.

Thank you @cupcake and @BOS_LHR okay so 2 months or so before the GC expired i have to submit ROC.. Do you guys know what papers or forms i should have and for how much? Do they have any interview as well? I mean how does the processing works? Thank you again sorry for asking to much..
