  1. Hey guys,

Just FYI... Rebecca's visa got delivered to the post office this morning. The tracking said estimated delivery would be January 4, and a CPC employee said it would actually take longer than that, so we were thrilled when we saw it was delivered! Rebecca went and picked it up... Hopped on a train... And is now in route to the airport to catch a 5:30pm flight to the USA!

  2. Just found this thread and wanted to weigh in :-). My husband had his interview in Montreal on December 17 for his CR1/IR1 visa. Apparently it was quick and painless (which was a relief!), and he was approved right on the spot. We registered for the courier before his interview, and paid the $22 to have it sent to our in-laws' place in Ontario where we've been staying. After the a few days went by, we checked the CEAC website and it said "issued" as of December 21, but no tracking info yet.

I knew everything would be a little delayed from the holidays, but as of today the status is still the same with no tracking number. The folks at the visa appointment services call center say they can only see the same info as us, and to keep checking CEAC status. We've been checking our email/junk folders, etc, and still nothing. Wondering if its normal to be stuck in "issued" limbo for this long without any tracking info? Getting a little worried :-/

Our interview was December 18 and our status on CEAC was updated to ISSUED yesterday. We were emailed a tracking number this morning. If you have been assigned a tracking number you should be able to see it on AIS under status next to the applicant's name. Hope this helps!

  3. Has anyone else with a CR1 been updated? I was hoping that because it is the US consulate that they would be open today and issue my visa, still no update :(

I am from Calgary, but listed the Kingston, Ontario DHL pick up thinking it would be issued a lot faster than this (I am living with my Grandparents because they were so close to Montreal). I won't have a place to stay past Jan 1st, so I really hope this is issued and mailed to me in time.

My interview was December 18th and I was the very first person in line for that day... it's such a bummer that there are so many holidays between my interview and Jan 1st!

    10 days waiting now :(

  4. are you ready immigrant or have you switched to ready non-immigrant yet?

I think it is unlikely it passed through security in just a couple hours, but you never know! everything is unpredictable. Hoping it was triggered by someone working on your case!

Mine is on immigrant ready. Does a CR1 change to non-immigrant in the system?

  5. Hey guys,

Didn't realize this section existed on VJ. My wife's interview was on December 18 for CR-1. Right now our status is "Ready" on Immigrant Visa Application. The date has been updated twice, but that's it. Will keep updating this thread and checking for updates from everyone!

  6. Hi guys,

Just to update... We received our interview date for December 18, 2015. Rebecca got her medical scheduled for December 14. We are now trying to figure everything out for the interview and put everything together! Could anyone elaborate on picking your visa up the next day after the interview? I read where you might have that option vs using the courier service. We would like to do that, but I'm not sure if we still need to fill out the courier information or not. Any thoughts?

  7. @Danielhenson usually aroud 7-10 days. Then another 2 weeks for case number to be assigned. Our NOA2 was July 9 and NVC received it on July 17. We got our case number and IIN on August 6. It's different for each case and center. Try to call NVC again tomorrow to ask whether they've received your documents or not.

Did you have to call NVC to get your case number and IIN or do they mail or email it to you?

  8. Hi everyone,

My Canadian wife is preparing for her medical exam and she has had every vaccine except Hepatitis A. On this list, http://www.visajourney.com/content/uscis-v, it does not mention Hepatitis A. Although it is not on that list, I have seen it on several other lists. Can anyone confirm whether or not she needs the Hepatitis A vaccine? The problem is that it requires two shots that are 6 months apart.

  9. Has anyone taken a Greyhound Bus from Canada into the United States? Could you tell me what the border crossing was like? Rebecca is thinking about taking a bus instead of flying because it's cheaper and she would like to see some of the countryside. We're not really sure how it works though... She was planning on buying a return bus ticket. Any thoughts or ideas?

  10. I doubt this expedite request would be approved.

She said that the expedite request inquiry would get a response in 30 days, but that it could lengthen the processing time due to the fact that my case should be processed within the next two weeks. I told her not to file the expedite.

All I'm concerned about is whether or not my previous I-129F is going to cause problems. I contact USCIS about this in the beginning and they are the ones that told me to not worry about it because the I-130 would "cancel out" the I-129F. Now I'm not sure and they seem to be going back and forth depending on who I speak with. I just tried calling the Canadian consulate but they are closed. I will try to call tomorrow.

  11. Yes, half (or more) of the USCIS people don't know what they're talking about.

The only following up I would do with the I-129f is to contact the consulate and tell them you would like to withdraw the petition since they're the ones that should have it now.

Did you ever get a letter from NVC with your case # on it?

    Hi,

When you say contact the consulate, do you mean the Canadian consulate that would be conducting the interview?

No--I didn't get a letter from NVC but that's most likely because I changed my address without notifying them. After I was told by USCIS that the I-129F no longer mattered I disregarded that application and proceeded with the I-130.

  12. I just spoke with another immigration officer and she told me she could put an expedite request in on our I-130 based on the previously approved I-129F but that our I-130 should be approved in the next 13 days based on processing times so it would actually take longer to approve the expedite...

Half of the people I speak with at USCIS say that the I-129F won't matter because it is invalidated based on my I-130... The other half say I should follow up with the I-129F. Either way, it's nearly impossible to get NVC on the phone so every time I try to call I just get an answering machine. I didn't want to submit the I-129F case through CEAC and pay the fees if the I-130 is what we have to go with...

  13. Wait, please clear this up. Your petition was approved, but she didn't have her interview at the consulate yet, right? If that's the case, you're correct, the petition is invalid. The point of the K-1 is to get married on U.S. soil.

Yes, this is correct. That's what I initially thought, which is why we filed the I-130.

I didn't contact NVC to withdraw the petition because USCIS told me I didn't need to.
