  1. Got some great news yesterday--the visa interview is scheduled for October 21st. Woo hoo! However, that is way earlier than I had figured, and my fiance was planning on coming to the US to visit me in November. If the visa has already been issued, can he still come just to visit? I know he has 6 months to use the visa, but since it's supposedly printed in his passport, it could raise some questions. He wasn't planning on moving over permanently until January.

Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks all!

  2. Congrats! I'm from ATL, too, and my fiance is from Ireland. We received our NOA1 on 2/25/14 and still haven't heard anything. I'm starting to not believe that they actually process them first come first served. I feel sorry for the December and January filers who still aren't approved.

I do have a question, though. Did your fiance ever visit you in the states? Mine visited the U.S. twice on ESTAs and also on a J-1, so I'm hoping that's not delaying the process by requiring extra background/security checks or something.

Yes, he's actually been to the States about five times in the past year to visit me. In fact, he just left today to go back to the UK so we actually woke up this morning to the approval notification which was bittersweet. He just comes over on ESTA, and obviously, doesn't stay for more than 90 days any 12 months period. I don't know much about J-1 visas, but I wouldn't think any of this would hinder your application. I really think the whole things depends on when someone bothers to pick up your file, definitely not in the order they were received which is so frustrating. Hang in there, friend.

  3. Got our NOA1 Feb 18th (USA/UK), still no NOA2! Called up and they said we'll hear something 'within' 60 days from a tier 2 officer. Hope ours is this week!

Fingers crossed for you! I didn't call or put in any service requests or anything--the only thing I did do a few weeks ago was write to a member of USCIS about the wait time discrepancy between TSC and CSC. I never heard anything back, so I doubt that had anything to do with it. Sending good vibes your way. I know we still have quite a journey ahead of us.

  4. We have a very similar story, though didn't go through the H1B process. I am a US citizen, and I was working in the UK last year when we started dating. When I came back to the US in September, I had hopes of going back to the UK but then I decided that I wanted to be close to my family in the US. So we decided that he would come here on a fiance visa and we would get married. Don't get me wrong, we are very much in love and I think we would have gotten married anyway down the road, but probably not as quickly as we are planning to now. We applied for the K-1 visa back in February and are still waiting...it's a long, depressing and drawn out process but I know it will be worth it in the end. My parents are very supportive and have met my fiance several times, so I am not facing the risk of my family disowning me--which I can imagine is very stressful for your GF. If your girlfriend is completely against it, then I wouldn't pressure her otherwise. After all, it is still marriage in the end and you should be ultimately doing it for the right reasons.

Anyway, not sure if that helps. That's just my two cents. :)
