Thanks sukhi4498 for the response.
My wife has SS#. Is asking for extension an option?

How are people filing taxes as their spouses are outside US? I am planning to file jointly. IRS publication 54 mentions we need to report the worldwide income if we file jointly. But I am not clear on how we report the worldwide income since my wife's income is not in USD? Any help is appreciated.

Our interview is on 5/29/13 at Mumbai consulate. Our ceac status still shows NVC.

How to make an appointment for Fingerprintinting at Mumbai consulate? Do we need to call them? Please help.
You can make the appointment at https://ustraveldocs.com/in and register your profile.
Anyone knows when the status at ceac would change from NVC to something else to reflect the status we received IL?

Just called NVC and got interview date
May 6, 7.30 am, Mumbai Consulate
Would suggest u guys to call NVC
Hi, would you mind sharing your PD and CC date?

Anyone from India - Mumbai received ILs? NVC mentioned they have sent out ILs for some people for Mumbai consulate.
-
Called NVC. They told me to ignore the checklist and also said my wife can take the PCC to the embassy. But she also said they haven't reviewed the supporting documents yet.
Would it be better if we get the PCC from the Passport office now and submit to NVC (in case they ask for it) or take it to the interview since it is valid for 1 year?

Thank you ShahenazFahad. Can you please let me know how you applied it and how long did it take for you to receive it? In Hyderabad they told us to get it from the police station.

We have sent I-864 and IV forms in the 3rd week of Jan and 7th Feb. We got a checklist for I-864 in Feb 1st week to which we sent the response on 2/18. When I called NVC few days ago they acknowledged they received the IV forms and our response to I-864 but they haven't opened them for review and we should wait 30 business days to hear back from them.
Today I received another check list email from NVC.
______F - FINANCIAL EVIDENCE:______________________________________
The NVC has received the requested Immigrant Visa Application (DS-230). However, we are still waiting for the response to the checklist letter for the Affidavit of Support (Form I-864). Please return the requested information so that we may complete the processing of your case. When responding to the National Visa Center, please include the bar code sheet that came with this letter. Failure to include the bar code sheet may cause a delay in the processing of your case. The barcode sheet should be placed on top of all documents being submitted for this case and mailed to the address provided.
______10 - PASSPORT POLICE CERTIFICATE:____________________________
Indian Police Clearance Certificates should be obtained as follows:
• All Indian IV applicants aged 16 and above, residing in India, should obtain police certificates from the local Passport Office.
• Indian passport holders applying for visas outside India should obtain a statement from their local embassy or consulate confirming they have no criminal record.
• Non-Indian IV applicants residing in India should obtain police certificates from the District Police Station serving their area of residence.
• Indian police certificates are not available for foreign (non-Indian) applicants applying outside India
I am confused as in why they are waiting for the response to the I-864 checklist when they already received it as week ago.
For the police certificate in India, we obtained the PCC from the local police station since the Passport Office issues the police certificate only for up to 6 months from the date they issued a passport. Since this is not the case with us, we got the PCC from the Police department.
Can someone please advice on how to proceed with NVC? I tried calling NVC today but their phone seems to be busy.
Thank you in advance.

Thank you KLZ for the information. Do you know what details I need to provide when I email NVCExpedite@state.gov? Is there a format NVC expects?

Can you please let me know on how I can request NVC for the expedite request? Are there any general guidelines on what requests are honored? Is making a request for expedite request going to delay the process? Any help is appreciated.

Immigration Visa Interview in India on June 22nd through June 26th
in US Embassy and Consulate Discussion

Hi almosttheeerr,
Did your wife had her visa scheduled and attended? Hope she got the visa. Do you remember what questions did they ask her? My spouse has her appointment coming up soon.
Do you know how long (approximately) does it take to receive the passport after the visa is approved? I need to plan the trip to India to bring my wife and kid.
Thank you!
