  1. Hi All,

Just today we received a packet from USCIS containing all the docs we submitted saying it was rejected. I am a K1 visa holder and i have my 19 mos old son with me as K2. The I-797 NOA says :

"You must sign your application in the signature block if you are 14 years of age or older. Your parent or guardian may sign their name in the signature block if you are younger than 14. Your signature or a parent's or guardian's signature in the "Signature of person preparing form, if other than above" is not valid signature for this purpose. Please sign and send the application with the correct fees to the address listed on the bottom of this page.

Now here are my questions: :crying:

    1. How do I sign it for my son? Just write his name? Or do I need to add my name next to his? (I'm really confused  )

    2. Is it okay if i will just reprint the "signature page" and then resubmit the rest of the documents even though it has all the USCIS markings on its right sides?

    3. All the documents are returned and stapled in a different way by them. Do I need to remove the staples and then rearranged it the way I originally submitted it?

    4. Do I need to change the "Date application filed" on the cover pages and other parts of documents?

Hope I hear from you guys. I lost my confidence after receiving the rejection notice. Just don't want to prolong the waiting since their customer service will not be able not until on Monday. :huh2:

    Thanks a lot.

Sign your son petition like this using a black pen

Your name, comma and father or mother.

Example: If your name is John Doe,and your son name is Scott Doe, sign is petition like this:

    1-John Doe, Father or

    2-John Doe, Mother

Remember to use a black pen

  2. I would take your marriage certificate also to prove the name change. Some people get asked for it and some don't. When I went for my biometrics I used my passport that was in my maiden name and I was specifically asked for proof of name change, others haven't been. Probably best to take it just in case.

    Thank you very much

I also just brought my passport with me during the biometric. That is sufficient for AOS applicants adjusting from K-1.

Although, I just remembered somebody mentioned here in the last 2 months that they were asked for a marriage certificate, but that was the only experience I read so far. Do bring yours just in case.

Don't forget the biometric appointment notice too. :)

    Thank you very much

  3. Hello Visa journey,

My flight will be on May 19, i am planning to bring a few months supply of my birth control pills to the US. I just want to know if it is okay to bring it coz i read some that i will be needing some prescription in order for me to bring it, some others said, i don't need anymore..I was confused.I need a precise answer since i don't want to have trouble in the airport and my POE.

    Thanks VJers...

Why would you want to bring birth control with you? Don't you want to get knocked up as soon as possible?

  4. Are you saying your wife completed the full medical required my USCIS in her home country before coming here and has now only has to only have vaccinations done? Did she not do the vaccinations with the medical in her home country?

Yes she did her medical for the k-1 visa but she did not get the vaccines as she was told by the doctor she did not need them at that time. Now she needs them for AOS

  5. My wife came with a k-1 visa now we are getting ready to send in form I-485 to adjust her status to permanent resident but because she had her medical prior to receiving her visa USCIS only required her to submit the vaccinations portion o the form I-693, but no civil surgeons in my area want to do it without the full medical. What do we do? Did USCIS not inform those surgeons that not all people are required to have a full medical?

    Any help please

  6. My fiancé received his K1 Visa on January 24, 2014 in the Dominican Republic. He wasn't able to come right away because of an important project at his work place in which he played a big role. Now that we are finally getting things rolling and preparing for our wedding I wanted to make sure I get some advice. What documents are needed from my foreign fiancé in order to obtain a marriage license in NY? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

All he needs is his passport to show his identity

  7. I had my interview two days ago and at the end of the interview the officer told me that everything is fine and its been approved. When I checked my visa status I got little confused bc status is Administrative Process. and I get this message :

Your visa case is currently undergoing necessary administrative processing. This processing can take several weeks. Please follow any instructions provided by the Consular Officer at the time of your interview. If further information is needed, you will be contacted. If your visa application is approved, it will be processed and mailed/available within two business days.

Is there a chance that after they approved they could still put it on AP? or its just a message shows up till its issued. The officer said ``u can get ur visa package in 7 days``! I hope they didnt put in AP bc they didnt say anythng about AP about our case. Just confused.

It's normal procedure, it means they are preparing your visa for printing, don't worry they will issue your visa pretty soon.

  8. When you went to your interview, were you approved on the spot? Did the IO ask you about them?

Yes I was approved on the spot. He asked me the question # 23 on the form N-400 in which I answered NO when I submitted my application for citizenship before I answered him I told him I had received a traffic ticket 7 years ago which the fine was less then $500, he then told me the answer to the question should be Yes, he then proceed to scratch the NO response I had given and check the Yes response on the form. After going through the remaining of the questions with me to which I answered NO he told me CONGRATULATIONS and gave me a piece of paper and told me I should my appointment in the mail to take my OATH.

  9. Hello, Ok I just applied for naturalization and sent off my packet. I had my fingerprints taken last week Friday. After reviewing my applicant, I realized that I read the instructions on and I failed to mention 2 speeding tickets and a warning that I got. They were both under $500 and I just paid them. Is this going to cause a problem? Should I mention it at my interview or just not bring it up unless I'm asked about it.

The same thing happened to me ,be sure to mention it at the interview, they will write it down on your application at the interview, that's exactly what they did to me and you should be fine.

  10. I am still in disbelief! We received an email this morning from the consulate stating that:

"Our records indicate that Mr.xxxx and his daughter qualify for an immigrant visa."

Our interview was on Jan-15, 71 days in Administrative Review. Whew!! We are sooooo happy!! Thank you to everyone and this site for everything! This journey was made much easier by the support of everyone and by just knowing we were not alone in this.

Woooooo Hoooooooo!!!!!! They should be here no later than mid April!

    :dancing:(L):dancing:(L):dancing:

Yay, I am very happy for you guys. Congrats

  11. Nothing yet...frustrating and painful without a doubt. I'm on the phone (hold) with NVC right now to see if there's been ANY movement on our case. Long story, but apparently they JUST went to verify his divorce decree at the Archives on March 13th. Talk about a delay!! Anyway, praying praying praying that we hear something this week so we can join the APPROVED crowd and finally be together!

Judging by your timeline, it looks like tomorrow is the big travel day!!!!!!!!!!! How AWEESOME!! Congrats and cheers to your journey in the black hole of waiting being over! :dancing:

Yes tomorrow is the big day, I am very excited.

I am not sure if the NVC is gonna have the latest update about your case because I called them them about a week after my fiancée said issued on the CEAC site and the told it has not been issued yet and my fiancée picked up the visa at HAITI MESSAGER the next day after I called the NVC. The next thing to do is to try your best to call CIVA and I know it wont be easy, emails wont do any good, they still have not response to my emails I sent them 4 weeks ago as to why the visa is not yet issued.

  12. Congrats!! and FINALLY!!!!!!!!!! We are still waiting ... but hopeful something will happen soon ClockWatch2.gif Excited for you both and I completely feel ya on the "never wanting to go through that again" comment!

Hey guys, have you heard anything about case yet? It must be very painful and frustrating

  13. Hi, My wife's brother and his family are here on a tourist visa, my brother in law is going back to Peru soon, his wife and kids just came on February so they will stay longer.

My wife wanted to get the change of status for her brother's kids (2) so they could be students and go to school for one school year.

The thing is that my wife has already petitioned her brother for the residence which will take a long time, so he's in the process and we got a case number. That's why he is going back to Peru to maintin his status legal.

His i94 is not showing on the customs and border website, but his wife and kids are. So, since the form for the change of status requests an i94 for the process, we called customs deferred inspection lists (which was recommended if the i94 number was missing), but the officer who answered asked all kinds of questions, and practically interrogated my wife on the phone and accused her of trying to do anything possible to keep her brother in the US. She explained that her brother wants to go back to Peru with his wife and my wife and I wanted the kids to have the chance to experience a new culture, learn the language and have a nice experience in the US we offered to put them in school but wanted to get the change of status to do everything legally. The officer kept insisting that this looked terrible for the government and that he gets paid to stop people like the brother and his family from entering the country, that if he would have known of our intentions he would have denied the entry of all of them, he asked for my brother in law's passport number and one of the child's passport number, we gave them to him, my wife was answering all his questions very politely but he turned rude and insisting that they were trying to do something wrong, actually accusing us of trying to do something illegal to what she replied that she did not understand because we were calling precisely because we wanted to do everything by law.

At the end he wanted to ask more personal questions and get more information to what we refused and he said thank you and good bye.

It all seemed like he was attacking us for asking for the i94 number which is not on the website.

    Why????

Your wife plan is completely illegal, entering the U.S with tourist visa with intent to stay I visa fraud
