  1. Hi everybody!

My question will may sound ignorant, but.... How do you check your GC status?

Is it on the ELIS website?
Cause I got my visa and I paid the immigration fees one month ago but I didn't pay attention anymore cause I was too happy to have my visa and I'm still in my country, I'll move in the USA in july. Do I have to wait for POE for them to send it?

    Thanks for your help! :)

  3. Here's the thing,

what if I just got my visa (IR1-CR1) and I'm planning to leave my country in July.
What if, also, I wanna visit my best friend in Canada before my arrival in the USA...

And finally, what if I wanna travel from Canada to USA with my best friend using a bus line....

It would mean that my first entry as a legal immigrant in the USA would be by bus. Is that possible? Or do I HAVE TO arrive by plane officially?

Thanks for your answer to this weird question and maybe naive....

  4. If they don't contact you on the 60th day, make a call on the 61st, cause that's what I did and they told me "oh you're supposed to receive an email in 3 or 4 days with the checklist" and all of a sudden like 30 minutes after, they sent the email to both of us.

So I was like, oh I thought I was about to wait 3 or 4 days... So, see? They just forgot about me and my call made them send an email right away. I think you have to show them you're here and you're waiting for them.

And it was a real checklist, cause it was very specific and they were waiting for it since when I called them to check if they had received it, they told me it was under process.

Yea cause their email system "has issues" lately. So if they don't send you an email to tell you they received it, then call them. Even tho you know they have it cause with the USPS tracking number you can know that.

And the 60 days start as soon as they receive them and opened the package.

But guys, call them as soon as you have questions, it's better when they know you exist!

  5. There's no specific delays either you send them together or separately.

Apparently they changed their process but I don't know too much about it.
But we sent them separately and they got it. A lot of people received the 60 days notice.

Hope it'll go well for you guys, on our 60th day we got a checklist notice, so another round of 60 days for us!

This process is ridiculously too long, but do we have a choice? No.

Good luck to you! Fingers crossed!

    Peace!

  6. Hi everybody!

Is somebody could help me? I got a checklist from NVC and we sent the documents they asked for last week and they received the file on Monday.

Do you know if they usually let people know they got the file and are gonna review it, or they don't do anything like this for a response to checklist?

    Thank you for your help.

    Peace everyone!

  7. Sorry i do not have a screenshot but basically, the aos fee that says "paid" changed to "n/a". And you will be having three n/a's in total.

My suggestion is for you to call and check with NVC if its already 60 days. As I understand, not all changes from PAID to N/A in their AOS.

Your case might be one of those who were case completed without the status changing. Just a suggestion.

    Thank you for your help.

    I'll call them on Friday.

  8. Hi everybody!

It's been 61 days today that i'm waiting for the NVC answer and my AOS status didn't change to N/A yet either.

I'm getting worried, this process is too long! It's killing me!

Did anyone have to wait for that long? I see a lot of 50something days...

Both AOS and IV have been sent at the same time but separately, they received them on the August 28th 2014.

And is anybody could send a screenshot to what we have to look to find if the AOS status changed to N/A from PAID?

    Thank you all!

  10. Hi everybody!

Our PD is Oct. 28th 2013, and we're now at the NVC, the AOS and the IV documents were both sent and received by the NVC on August 28th 2014, and now they emailed us that they got our documents and told us about the 60 days waiting because of the increased number of applications approved.

Is anybody else received this email about waiting 60 days too?

And how do you know when your packages are scanned??

Thank you so much for your answers! :)

  11. For the joint sponsor you're looking at, is her income currently above the poverty guidelines? What about the 3 previous years? Although NVC puts a lot of weight on current income, they do also look at past years, especially the most recent year. If this person has only recently started to work, then you may want to find a different joint sponsor.

Hi! And thank you for your answer!

She has been woking before, like mid-time during studies but I think she was under poverty guidelines but she filed her federal tax refund tho. She's done with studies since last year and started to work in October 2013 for this firm. She makes 40K a year for a household of... only her. lol

So she's above the poverty guidelines.

But as you say it may not be strong enough. And that makes me worried.

  12. Hi!

I have a question, and sorry if the answer is already somewhere, but it's not on the wiki you wrote.

My petitioner can't be the sponsor (=student with no job) but we have a co-sponsor. The fact is that she has started to work 10 months ago as secretary and clerical work for a tax firm, that's her first real job.

Is it long enough? Since she has to have filed a Federal tax return for each of the three most recent tax years as ask at the question 13 in the part 6 of the Affidavit of support.

    Thanks for your help!

  13. Hi everybody!

As you may all know with the visa bulletin, they moved backwards for like more than a year that made the current date may 1st 2012 for F2A category. And we fit in this category.

    We filled an I-130.
    We received NOA2 on april 25th 2014.

We always read stuff saying that we'll never get any news from the NVC process until our date is about to become current. Since our priority date is the october 28th 2013 we were sure to wait for a loooooong time.

But it happened that our process at the NVC has already started, so now we filled the DS-261, paid the Affidavit Of Support fees, and they'll come back to us for the immigrant visa application processing fee to pay.

We're really surprised cause it wasn't supposed to start now. We don't know what to think and we try to not hope too much to not be too disappointed.

    Is it normal to you?

  14. I really don't suggest you guys trust any of these sites that estimates when your priority date will be current, because I really doubt their calculate is anywhere near accurate. Like for instance it is telling me that my priority date December 2, 2013 will be current in April 2014 and I highly doubt that is possible. As a matter of fact I don't think the Visa Bulletin will move forward for f2a again until October 1, when the new fiscal year begins and they allot new numbers.

    Hi!

OMG USCIS approved your I-130 in 2 months??
