  1. You will go through the citizens' line and since this is her first time, she will go through the visitors/visa line since she's not yet an LPR. Then the next time she comes into the US, she can use the LPR line.

Our son is a US citizen. He's only 1 yo. We wouldn't want him to lose sight of either one of us. Would that be reason enough for the officer to process us all together?

  2. I just called the NVC and the operator confirmed that my case has been completed! He told me that I would receive the email with the appointment date soon since there's not waiting for my type or country.

My case has been completed long time ago as well and they had plenty of time to forward it to the Embassy. Yet it's been close to 2 months now and the case is still at the NVC even though our priority date is current and has been current for 2 months now.

  3. We've submitted all of the required supporting docs a while ago. Since that didn't trigger the NVC website to update, I emailed the NVC to find out whether they had at least received it. They responded saying that they got all the docs necessary to complete our case (although formally the case is still not complete) and that they are trying to schedule an interview at the US Embassy. Priority-date wise we are current now. How long does it normally take for them to schedule an interview at the Embassy?

    Good luck everyone.

  4. I will become eligible to apply for US citizenship in the end of April. However, my travel plans for the summer are such that I will be out of the US for all of July and August, so I decided to start the naturalization process after I come back in the end of August. The naturalization guide mentions something about the amount of time spent living in the USCIS district or State before filing n400, that that time has to be at least 3 months. What does "living in the USCIS district or State" mean, does it mean physically present there or just maintain an address there? If it's the former, then I guess I will not be eligible to apply after I am back in the US in the end of August? Thanks.

  5. I just called the USCIS and talked to a Tier 2 representative about my case. She explained that though my PD is 9/26/2013 the Vermont center is currently processing petitions filed around 9/18/2013 and my case is still considered within the normal processing times, and therefore she is unable to create a service request. I attempted to submit an eRequest through the USCIS website - got an error saying that the case is not outside the normal processing times. What's going on here?

  6. Your time zone might be different

On their website it says they are open 8am to 5pm in any time zone. Anyway, I finally managed to get through to someone, and was told that VSC is currently processing cases filed around Sep 18 2013, about one week earlier than mine, and that the 5mo timeframe is only an estimate, and basically that I am not eligible to put in a service request as my case is still within the normal processing time. Is that BS?

  7. U r currently outside processing time as per USCIS VSC processing time, so u can call them and can ask to create a Service request, they will reply u within 1 month....do soon since u r a september filer.....and already way outside normal processing time....

I just called them but could not get through to an actual customer service representative. It kept saying call back between 8 am and 5pm to speak with a representative, and I called at 10am. How does one get through to them?

    Thanks.

  8. Hi there, would it make sense to add another column to the speardsheet to indicate the immigration status of the petitioner: US Citizen vs. LPR?

It appears that not all of the USCIS service centers process I-130's filed by LPRs. For example, NSC seems to target only I-130's filed by US Citizens. Otherwise I see no other reason why the USCIS website gives no processing time for NSC for I-130's filed by LPRs, only for Citizens' petitions. Many fear to be transfered to NSC, but if you are an LPR then you probably won't because NSC does deal with the I-130's from the LPR pool. Or am I mistaken here?

At any rate, I would suggest to add a column to the spreadsheet reflecting the petitioner's immigration status: USC vs LPR. It'll make the picture clearer.

    Thanks.
