    neo - the bank will want to see credit history and steady income. You need to build your credit history. The best way to do that is to go to the bank and get a "secured" credit card. Then after 6 months or so of using the card and paying it off every month, you can start to apply for other lines of credit.

    As far as a new immigrant with their first job in America, you will probably have to get a car loan with your wife. She would be the primary borrower, and your name would also be on the loan. With good, on-time payments, this will build your credit and you will not need someone for the next loan.

    Sometimes this isn't possibly right away, and people have to buy used cheap cars that they pay cash for until they have built their credit history.

    Hey guys , i just want to share something with you .... and my frustration... Why do companies not want to hire over qualified people? Wouldn't it make sense for a company to hire someone especially when they are over-qualified for the job ( Phd , Master ) ??? if the person in question is willing to take a paycut/accept what the company is offering for the job? Many managers feel intimidated/threatened by someone who is possibly more qualified than themselves, and will be reluctant to hire someone who might be able to take their job. Should i ask my self why i'm over-qualified ???

    On the phone the recruiters keep saying that i have good english and they are impressed ... but i know my english is not perfect ...

    IT jobs are less in Michigan compare to NJ, NY,FL ... , and i still didn't had a chance to have a real interview with ( Real recruiter not with third party recruiters ) .

    its been 3 months i try to find a position in information technology ... i got Bachelor and Master with 5years experience in domain and i talk 4 languages ... , i stuck ... i still didn't get any offer , i keep receiving calls from head hunters and passing boring interviews and filling papers ...

    how started the first job in US for you guys ?

    does my wife need to redo her medical exam?

    You just have to add the vaccination paper in she's AOS i don't think she need another medical exam .

    About the affidavit of support (whether you are a sponsor, a joint sponsor, or a substitute sponsor). You must show that your household income is equal to or higher than 125% of the U.S. poverty level for your household size.
