  1. Thanks Sukie and CO. For me to go there for a short period and come back might raise a red flag for immigration maybe? To get to ohio from nz is about $3000 - so I would try avoid this option.

In hindsight I would have looked at changing date of interview, but I didnt connect those dots til now. Ive already done the medical a few weeks ago, this was the same time we found out about everything. ..and it was very hectic/exciting . The main thing here is that the visa is as only as good as medical ie six months. Of which I dont mind doing again, but only if it means we can aim for a date in april without compromising and starting over

  2. Good Evening

We have our interview this week and I don't know what to do if we are approved but on the above.

Bascially just as we found out about the appointment for our interview we also found out my wife (USA citizen) is pregnant and we are looking to have the baby in my home country (NZ) and move to the USA a few months later (say April 2016 at latest) ....but on the documents we received it says the visa (spouse of US citizen) is only valid for 6 months, does anyone know what the options are? Would we have to start from scratch? How should I approach this at the interview?

    Thanks in Advance

    Matt

  3. Hi Team

After filing in March 2014, we now have an interview in two weeks time, just a few questions:

Firstly, we will have a sponsor for myself as once my wife and I move to USA we wont have any jobs straight away - the sponsor will be her dad. Part of the prep for the interview they are asking for proof of my funds to support myself whilst in America - i know there are the poverty guidelines which with sponsorship we will exceed so that's fine - but I dont know if there is an amount they are looking for when asking proof of my funds (I am the immigrant). By the time of the interview we hope to provide evidence of savings for USA of about $12,000 and also proof of assets of a car worth about $7000. I hope this will suffice.

Also, my wife (USA citizen and joint sponsor) has been asked to supply her latest tax transcript for the most recent tax year - but as we are both in New Zealand this is difficult because the irs online option is not active at the moment.....any thoughts with this? I bring this up because they had some minor issues with the way we interpreted and filled in the i864 - affidavit of support.

I hope when we present everything at the interview, any formality related issues we can fix on the day.

  4. Good Day Team

My wife & I both live in New Zealand so will be using joint sponsor..............my wife's Father will be this.

For his tax transcripts this has been filled jointly, I see it asks for individual income.............so would we put the full amount? otherwise do we need to have his spouse fill out the i864A????

Can some please help & advise what is speciallfy required or if there are any alternative options, sometimes it's difficult getting this info from across the world FYI we have his signatures on the documents because my wife went over there to visit during the holidays, so now we just need the correct info to put in.

Their joint income is about $141,000.

    Cheers,

    Matt

  5. Good Day

Just yesterday our I130 has been approved now on to the next stage...(I am being petitioned - Wife is USA citizen)

A few specific questions I have is if we both live overseas together in New Zealand, if we don't have any job for us when we go to USA then is it guaranteed we need to prove sponsorship from a source in the USA?

We intend to have at least 20-30k saved up and our current income is above the poverty guidelines...but as we wont have those jobs in America im assuming this is the case & will need a sponsor?

Our sponsor will be my Wife's Dad , but i'm wondering if we have to go through that hassle? or whether I sponsor strengthens our case?

    Kind regards,

    Matt

  6. Yarrrrrrrriba!!!!

NOA2 email arrived this morning (Saturday) at 5:45 am.

I know there's still a long row to hoe (as the old farmers used to say), but I'm just so happy to be able to do something besides wait.

Best of luck to all those still stuck in USCIS: they do seem to be catching up a bit (we're exactly three days short of five months, which was the posted service time in Nebraska the last time I checked).

Hi Shikimo, good stuff getting your NOA2. Just a coincidence but we have the exact same Priorty date - I'm hoping sometime this week as it's coming up 5 months. Hopefully your positive energy will rub off on to us.

Good luck for the future process.

  7. Hi Team

We sent our i130 form from New Zealand as that is where we both live together. This has been noted as being received on the March 11th 2014. When I sign in to my case status account on the USCIS website it says that the last update was on the 19th of March 2014< I'm assuming this was when the i130 cheque was cashed possibly.

My question is, should we be concerned that there isn't any update since then? I understand the average time for the i130 is 5 months, but shouldn't there be more transparency of what is happening with our case?

Can anyone speak on their experience?

Is it better to wait the 5 months before we do anything? Any contacts that you can suggest would be appreciated.

    Kind regards,

    Matt

  8. Hi Team

We delayed sending I130 until this following week as the process of getting money order in New Zealand was too confusing. So we got my wifes Mum to send a bank cheque from the states to sort the $420 filing fee.

My question, which has possibly been answered on previous posts, is at what stage can unfilled taxes affect your application if at all?

My wife (USA citizen is in the process of filing last 3 years of taxes (has been working abroad for 3 years) as she just realized this is necessary even though she is living and working in New Zealand. USA and NZ are part of a tax treaty where you only pay taxes one time in one country up til a certain threshold.

As part of the immigration process for me to go to USA, I just want to know what your thoughts are on the above implications regarding her tax situation? and at what stage they take this into account.

    And kind regards,

    Matt

  9. Hi NLR in regards to the sending a cheque option - are you implying that it gets sent to New Zealand where we both live? My i130 is nearly good to go apart from the passport photos and this cheque business and a cover letter, so your clarificaiton would be helpful :)

It is my understanding that I have to include the cheque in with my initial i130 petition, and I would send that all together in the same package

    Cheers

  10. Hi Team

I was hoping someone could give me some clarification regarding the I130 form.

Me (New Zealand Citizen) & My Wife (USA Citizen) have been living in NZ for over 3 years and married for over 2......so we've decided to give a crack at Living in America and this brings me to this forum with a few questions:

My circumstances are that I am living in Wellington, New Zealand and the immigration office is in Auckland but we don't have the option of filling the i130 direct as it isn't listed as having that option, so I understand everything should be sent to the Chicago lockbox. My main question is for the filling fee, which i believe is $420 - at what stage does this get paid? - Does it get sent through at the same time as the application of the i130.

Information below is from my countries Embassy page (if you can trouble yourself to read it), and it states that fees are paid at the interview stage.....can someone please advise on their experience of paying for the i130?

Immigrant Visa Fees Fee Type* $NZ IV Petition I-130 Filing $546 IV Application $299 Returning Resident $357.50 DV Lottery $429 USCIS I-601 Waiver $760.50 Transportation Letter (Lost Green Card)

    * Fees for all Immigrant Visa services must be paid in person at the interview. The U.S. Consulate General does not accept U.S. dollars; all fees must be paid in New Zealand dollars. We recommend fees be paid by credit card for all services except Non Immigrant Visas, which are paid at the at Kiwi Bank in Post Shops in advance.

    Kind regards,

    Matt
