What it means is any EAD cards, re entry permits, travel documents etc. They dont need your foreign passport. Nope, no need for all notices they sent you.

Thanks!  Appreciate it your thoughts here... I don't think I could find  my old EAD card that was provided before my Green Card.. hopefully they won't make that a hard requirement.

@BrianPeppers oh good it finally came! Excellent.

I just brought the notice with the questionnaire on the back filled out and my green card. I did not bring any other work authorization cards. Mainly because I didn't know where they were. The green card they will take from you at the ceremony.

Oh if you have the time apply for the passport  the same day. Yes you will have to send in your naturalization certificate with the application. I did mine at the Grand Army Plaza Library and they made a copy of the certificate which they gave to me and they kept the original to send with the application. Also , I know not many people do this but in addition to the passport book , I also applied for the passport card. It looks like the green card sort of. It's a good way to keep my proof of citizenship on me rather than carrying the actual certificate.

Best of luck at the ceremony!👍🏽

Thank you so much!  Yes, I plan on getting the passport card as well because I think it goes into effect very soon that Driver Licenses are not enough when traveling domestically.

I assume that that there were about 150-200 people at the Cadman Plaza Ceremony ?  The majority would have flocked to the post offices later?  I'm thinking of going to somewhere fairly far from the ceremony like an Upper East/West Side post office to avoid the crowds of people applying.

  2. So I finally have received the N-445 (Notice of Naturalization Oath Ceremony) .

It states to complete the questionnaire on the back of form, bring your Permanent Resident Card which is expected but these two puzzles me:

    3) All Re-entry Permites or Refugee Travel Documents you may have, valid or expired.

    4) Any other documents USCIS issued to you.

How I am interpreting this is that I must handover my foreign passport that contains all previous expired/non-valid Visa's as well as all historical notices received from USCIS from previous Visas?  Surely we don't need to bring all the letters they sent us for the N-400 process?

  3. With a huge sigh of relief, I had a L2 officer fax me the details of my Oath Ceremony this Friday.  The L2 officer was super friendly and extremely helpful.

Like Charro advised, do not listen to the representative you first speak to after calling customer service.  They will not give you any information and do not wait the 30 day period as indicated By them.  If I had listened to the L1 representative of waiting till the 28th, I would have missed out my ceremony.

Oh wow.. i am also a NYC filer, and my interview was 2.5 weeks ago, yet i still havent heard anything in regards to the Oath ceremony appointment. What is the time frame any idea? Should i be calling?

Are you In Line for Oath?  It look me just over two weeks to get the In Line for Oath.  I think you will you will get it any day now.

I would call only from 4 weeks out (at least thats what I would have done)

Do you have Delivery informed notifications with USPS? I mean did you receive a picture of your mail piece by E- mail ? if yes . did you receive all mail that showed in the notification except this one ?

I have informed delivery on but for some reason USPS is only showing packages ... never mail.  I guess its something to do with my area where they are not supporting it.

Asked 10 neighbors no one seen it today!!!!!

If you do not receive your receive your notice by September 28 , please go to www.uscis.gov/e-request? It is not Sep. 28 yet, but the mailpiece is lost 100%. Is it okay to request electronic copy now?

And if the ceremony September 15, why needs to wait till Sep.28 ?   lol it`s funny !!  like someone asking you wait till you miss your ceremony date.

Will calling them Tuesday asking to talk to Tier 2 ,,,I posted this to see if anyone can share same experience? Thanks

Im in the same situation...  They mailed my Oath Letter last Tuesday (29th) but I have not received it.  I know the NYC Federal Court holds the Oath Ceremony the following week after mailing out so I am very concerned about missing out my Oath Ceremony.

Given Monday is Labor Day,  this is cutting it very close...  We have no customer service representative available to tell us the days over this long weekend :(

@BrianPeppers I was in a similar position as you are( I am also a NYC filer) My notice seemed to take longer than usual to arrive so I called uscis. I initially spoke with an L1 officer, I let her go through her routine then politely requested an L2 officer.  They take your number and inform you that someone will return the call in a specified time frame. Before that time was up I got the call from a uscis L2 officer. He was very helpful and was able to tell me that my oath ceremony was in 3 days! He faxed the letter over and I also got another call from someone confirming I got the fax. It was amazingly efficient and pleasant that experience. My notice interestingly actually came that same day in the mail but after that call. So it would be a good idea to call. I think they are even open on Saturdays. And I did call as soon as they opened too. Good luck!

Thank you for the insight!  It looks like Customer Service Center Hotline is open Monday to Friday but I doubt anybody would be there on Monday.   Hopefully I will get it in the mail tomorrow or Tuesday.

  8. As a NYC Filer waiting for the Oath Letter, I am concerned that I have not received it after four business days.  I have seen people here where they schedule the Oath Ceremony the following week.  I am concerned with the public holiday being on Monday that I may miss the Ceremony due to late processing with USPS.

Is there a call center I can to get the date without hassle?

Thank you weakheart for sharing. You saved my time.I have read somewhere that people go 2 hour earlier. Your suggestion abt 15 min sounds very reasonable. Thank you, weakheart, I take your advice .

    Have a great day:D

I just received an update on USCIS saying they mailed the Oath Letter... do you happen to know where this is mailed from?  Not sure if the letters all come from a single state mailed nationally or the local USCIS field office mails it out..

HI ,  I had my oath ceremonies scheduled after tomorrow 8/29  in candam plaza   Soon you will receive yours just be patient good luck

I noticed a lot of people got their Oath scheduled 5-10 days after the interview...  Since I had my Interview on 8/2, I was hoping for  a September Oath ceremony but it looks to be in October as I believe the time between the mailing of the Letter and the Oath Ceremony is about 3-4 weeks?

    Hi Everyone,

I had my oath ceremony yesterday and I just want to share with you how it went. My ceremony was at Cadman Plaza scheduled to begin 8:30 am. Upon arrival, I had to go through security who told us to leave our phones  and or cameras with them until after the ceremony. We were directed to the 2nd floor where we were seated in a courtroom but guests were directed to another room on the 3rd floor until after the ceremony. Taking guests with the intention of taking pictures is a waste of time as they will not be permitted to enter the room with you or witness the ceremony.

After everyone was seated, officers called a few people to their table. Those people were told to go outside and take 2 passport pictures and return to the courtroom when they were done. One lady was given a document and told to go home and respond to that notice. Some were called to another table to verify the changes they made during the naturalization process. At about 10:00 am row by row we were asked to bring our green cards and notice. The officers took the green cards, went over the question section of our notice, instructed us to take one envelope from the stacks on their desk and return to our seats. Those envelopes contained the words to the Pledge of Allegiance, the Star Spangled Banner, The  Naturalization Oath of Allegiance, passport forms and a folder for your certificate. The judge entered after everyone had received an envelope and the contents of the packets were explained. He told us about his immigrant family, asked us to repeat the Naturalization Oath after him, then to say the Pledge of Allegiance. We were then congratulated followed by a round of applause.  The officers then told us to form two lines row by row. Those who had the number 1 written in red ink on their notice were to form a line at Table 1 and those with 2 written on their notice should form a line at table 2. After handing our notice to the officer, we were given our certificate to inspect for any errors before signing. Once we signed we were told that we could leave. The process was 4 hours long.

7 people did not show up for their ceremony. The officers kept calling for them from beginning to end and none of them showed up.

I'm happy to say that I've completed the journey and I am now a citizen!

Congratulations!!! Thanks for sharing your experience here as I assume I will be going through this very soon (personally I'm still suck in 'in line for Oath Ceremony' for two weeks now).   I might bring my passport photos with me that I took to the interview just in case!!  Thanks for that tip.

If you don't mind sharing, can I ask whether you went to the Post Office afterwards with your Passport application?  I assume there would be huge line at the Cadman Plaza USPS so best to go to somewhere like Grand Central?

That was my thought too. I think the only harm is signing and submitting before the ceremony. Filling it out, printing it and keeping it until after the ceremony shouldn't be a problem. i have a prefilled form at home that I'll be taking with me to the ceremony so that I can submit right after.

I thought the pre-filled DS-11 submits something to the Dept of State?  So when they scan your form, they already have a copy in their system?  Thats the part that worries me.

It turns out that even though I was told it would be at the federal plaza the letter said cadman plaza.

I thought so... not sure if anybody had a ceremony at Federal Plaza...

Also for people on this last leg of a very exhausting journey, does anybody know if we are breaking any laws pre-filling the Passport Forms at the Dept of State web site so we have a form all ready to submit right after the ceremony ?

My concern is that some government official may interpret that we are claiming to be a US Citizen when filling out the passport form where we have not yet gone through the ceremony.

congratulation , i received saturday  an update about my case I tought will be an oath ceremony when  i check i got a superised that my  CASE UNDER SUPERVISOR REVIEW after couple hours status change to CASE UNDER SUPERVISOR REVIEW COMPLETED   I dont know  what the meaning of that even the IO give the congratulation and recommended me for approval

plz any once had such experience

    Thanks!

I never had that status change but I assume it was just the IO supervisor doing a check on the work.  Since there was no change to RFE follow up, I think it will shortly be changed to "In Line for Oath".

    Hi Everyone,

I wanted to give an update on my case. Last week I received an alert that notice for my Oath Ceremony was mailed but I haven't received it as yet. I figure I'd get it this week but I was on The February filers page lurking as I do ever so often, to get an idea on how long it would take to get to each step (So far it's been accurate). I saw a young lady from my city that interviewed around the same time I did post that she received an alert that her oath ceremony notice was mailed out last week and was able to not only call USCIS and get her interview date and location from a Tier 2 Rep but they also faxed her the letter. Of course  I decide to try my luck and was successful in getting the date and time of my Ceremony. My ceremony is scheduled for August 23rd at 8:30 AM. The officer told me that if i don't receive my letter by this Friday, I should call back with a fax number and they'll fax the letter to me. The ceremony was scheduled for 8 business days after it was mailed out, I'm almost done with this journey y'all.

Nearly there!   Good tip to get the letter faxed!  Thanks for that...

I just got the confirmation that I'm in line for Oath this morning, I hope to get a mailed noticed later this week with a ceremony date for early September.

At least you got something, my cousin that applied 4 days before me had her oath ceremony today. Yes in NYC field office

Do you know how long she waited from the approval of the interview to some form of update in the USCIS Status Check? Been a week since my approval at the Interview (Federal Plaza) but no change yet on the USCIS status check to "In Line for Interview"
