  1. I guess this question is along the same line as those above. I paid the AOS fee a week ago but still have not received any notification of receipt. I did, however, go online and I see that the fee is now listed as paid. The link for paying the IV fee, however, is in red and not working. So, do I still need to wait for an official notification, or call NVC, or what? I hate the thought of calling them with all the constant busy signals.

  2. Nueva pregunta. Alguien sabe?

  3. New question. This one is kind of jumping the gun a bit. This is assuming all goes well with NVC and we get an interview, and assuming the interview goes well. The embassy in Bogota says on their website that the visa will not be issued the same day, but will be sent by DHL to the address we list on-line. I know how to enter the site, but the problem is we are hoping to travel back to the US together. My wife does not live anywhere near Bogota, so we hoped to wait in Bogota until the visa is issued and then travel to the US. I'm not finding any info anywhere on the timeline from interview date to visa issuance date for the Bogota embassy. Anyone know?

  4. Voy a preguntar en ingles porque yo no confio en mi español.

Is anyone familiar with the FORMATO AUTORIZACIÓN PERMISO DE SALIDA DEL PAÍS PARA MENORES DE EDAD? My wife will need permission from her ex for the two children to leave the country. We are not sure how to answer questions 3 and 5. #3 asks for the "Propósito de viaje del menor", Do we say to live in the US? To study in the US? Or what? This leads to the concern with question 5: "Fecha de regreso o entrada al país del menor". We don't know when or even if the kids will return to Colombia, as the idea is to live in the United States. I certainly don't want to lie about anything on this form, but we also want it written so the father will sign it giving permission.

Any experience with this? Or ideas?

    Thanks,

    Charles

  5. 1. Country USC resides in: Colombia
    2. Is there a USCIS field office in this country / Is DCF still possible? No
    3. When did you file the I-130: Sept 8, 2014
    4. How long had you been living abroad: 12 months
    5. Do you reside in the country legally? Yes
    6. What is the reason for your residence: To live with my wife and her children.
    7. Did you list your foreign address on all forms in I-130 package? No. I listed my US address, however, this is causing us problems as NOAs are not arriving at that address. Trying to deal with this by telephone with USCIS and this is NOT the best way to accomplish things with them.
    8. Did you send I-130 package from abroad? Yes
    9. Did you include evidence of your residence abroad in the I-130 package? Yes. Rental agreement with both our names. Various photos plus copies of pages from our facebook accounts.
    10. Did you mention the fact you reside abroad in the cover letter or write a letter describing your current situation and the evolution of your relationship with your spouse (mentioning your residence abroad)? Yes in the cover letter, including information as to where and for how long.
    11. Has your case been "auto-expedited"? No idea as I have yet to see any of the NOAs.

  6. I have been married to a lovely Colombian lady for 15 months. We have lived in Medellin since the marriage. I submitted the I-130 for my wife and two children on Sept. 15, thinking that with the normal processing times, we might hit the two year mark around the time she came to the states (thus being an IR-1). Surprise, surprise!! After exactly one month, I received notice that the two children have been approved and more info is needed for my wife. I will address this as soon as I receive a copy of the 797 (it's in the US, still).

Question right now is this: Anyone have experience with cases being processed this quickly? Possibly for direct embassy processing in Bogota, in the sense of largely bypassing the NVC wait? Never heard of a one month turn around and just curious what it might mean.

Copying this from the Colombian forum to see if there are any responses here.

  8. Hi all. I and my wife living in Medellin, Colombia. I am beginning to prepare her I-130 and have a question on question 18 on the form. I plan to return to the states to find an apartment after we receive the NOA1. I've found other posts on the subject but all are two to five years old and I know that things have changed somewhat in the past year with USCIS.

Is it still viable to file the I-130 from here and move later? Or, do I need to go back to the states prior to applying? Any other topic threads that might relate to this topic?

    Thanks in advance.

  9. I went through this process several years ago and thought I would never do it again after that marriage failed. But life is what happens while you're making other plans.

Doing the CR-1 visa for my beautiful amor from Colombia. Any and all constructive advice is welcome and appreciated.

    Good luck to all!

  10. Hola a todos. Ojala puedo escribir en ingles porque yo no confio mucho en mi espanol. ;-)

I went through this process several years ago, but I've forgotten much and many things seem to have changed. So, pardon me if I ask questions covered elsewhere (and in English).

I plan to file for a CR-1 visa for my wife from Colombia. She has children. Though nothing seems to clearly state this, it appears I need to file separate I-130s for each of them. Does that mean a separate fee for each of them, also? Will the same be true for the other forms (i-864, g-325, etc.)?

    gracias por su ayuda
