  • Our Story
November2002-I met Don on line and we became fast friends.

December2003-We met in person in Banff and fell in love. (my 3 kiddos
    think Don is cool)

March 2003-I opened my new restaurant and Don
came to help get things ready. He met my parents
(my parents think he is WONDERFUL!!)

July 2003-Don and I travelled to eastern Canada (actually only to
    Ontario and Montreal)

    October 2004-ENGAGED!!!!

November 2004-Began our endeavors towards a visa for me and the
    kids.

December2004-Don came out to Alberta for a late Christmas with us on
    the 26th.

March 2005-ended my lease for the restaurant (in hopes of moving
    to North Carolina)

July 2005-Don came out to Vancouver with me for the interview
    with the embassy
-I was denied due to a criminal record for something
dumb I had done in 1992 (young and stupid)
-we applied right away for a waiver I-601 (the embassy
    staff were completely helpful)

August 2005 -I moved to Vancouver to look for work while we wait for
the waiver and visa for me to move to North Carolina
-I received my notice of receipt for the waiver application
    (dated Aug. 03/2005)

October 2005 -Don came out for our Canadian Thanksgiving

November 2005-Mailed a letter to Vermont Service Center requesting the
    status of my case

December 2005-Still hearing nothing from USCIS concerning my waiver
and it has now been 4 months
-Don phoned his senator to help (he said we should hear
back by Monday the 12th of December)
December 2005- We heard back early from the senator's office. However
I think they are hoping to keep us from contacting them
for a few weeks. The lady there told us that VSC is now
working on July applications. That seems strange since
I have read a few timelines from January-June who still
are pending. We will continue to contact them every
few days so that they realize we are persistant and will
not lay back and do nothing while they keep us apart.

We get to see each other about every 3 months. Being apart is taking it's toll on both of us and the children. We are deciding if we should keep waiting for the waiver and visas to move to North Carolina or if Don should try for a transfer to Washington to be closer to us. Both of us think North Carolina is nicer but we really miss each other.
