  1. Hi All,

Had my interview today. Was very nerve racking. Lots of questions about my previous overstay. Also asked if anyone else was dependent on my mum for financial support. I was in and out of embassy in an hour. It was gruelling wait though. The case has been updated on ceac to administrative processing. Hoping for a quick turn around so I can really relax!

    Cheers

  2. I've had my medical so thought would be helpful to post:

I called on a Friday to request an appointment and since I'm in London and am quite flexible with work, I was able to get one on the Monday. I had to go to Bentnick Mansions near Bond Street tube.

I arrived about a half hour early. I can't help it, I am ALWAYS early. They asked me to wait in reception and come back 5 mins before my appointment time. When the time rolled around, I went up to the window, handed over my stuff- UK police certificate, Passport, UK photo, questionnaire and immunisation records (these I got from my university and I had an updated tetanus from Dr).

They gave me another questionnaire to fill out, (the official US office one), which I did and handed back to them.

About a 5 min wait a very friendly guy came and called me for my chest x-ray. Very quick and painless. Had to wear a gown which I was told to keep on until I saw the doctor. When x-ray was done went to a smaller waiting room. Waited there for about 10-15mins.

Doctor asked me questions about the questionnaire, checked my lymphnodes (all of them), eyes, ears, reflexes, chest, weight and height. Took my blood pressure and did a blood test.

I didn’t have to see the nurse as my vaccinations were up to date.

    Relatively quick and painless.

  5. Did you have to do anything to clear the ban after the 3 years passed? A friend of mine was banned years ago and her filing is complete she was told that she needed to pay and fee to clear the ban is that correct?

    Thanks.

Hi Pickneygal. Not specifically. I knew I was banned but didn't know how long so applied for a non-immigrant visa. It was then that I received written communication that I was barred and until that was up I was not eligible for a visitors visa. When my bar expired, I applied for the B2 visa, which was then granted. This incurred a fee. First visa was for 2 years, next one I was granted a 10 year visa.

So I paid a fee insomuch as I paid for a visa... I can't help you further than that I'm afraid.

  6. I understand what you're saying but there SHOULDN'T be any grilling. I fly over 2-3 times a year; all they ask me is the purpose of my visit and how long I'm staying. The fact that you have a visa tells me you've been for a visitor visa interview and granted the visitor stamp - that's half the battle I think.

You can take evidence that you need to return to your home country i.e. a letter from your employer with the date you're due back a work; rental lease or college schedule; anything to show that you have every intention to not overstay. Don't offer it up until/unless you're asked though. And general advice from most forums I visit is to politely only answer the question asked and not to volunteer information they haven't asked for.

Hope you're going somewhere warm! Have a great time!

    B

Hi Both! If it helps I've overstayed before when I was going through Aos on a k2. After my 3 year bar (which wasn't fair as no one told me to leave) I was given a b2 visa. First visit I went to the 'little room' was explained that this would happen again. Stamped entry and on my way. Maybe a couple of brief questions but nothing that was too aggressive.

Hope that helps. After two trips I was straight through.

    Nothing to stress about.

  7. Hi all

I got my interview last 25 of March, at Sydney embassy, but I'm from Colombia , I was very good same questions as hibjail but the officer asked me about my job , status visa in Australia and previous job in the military forces in my country, she asked me as well for my mom's W2 affidavit support , I think is important , after that she approved my visa, now I'm finishing my job in here to join with my family very soon in Miami after long wait, thanks Good!!

I wish you guys all the best in this long procces, at the end it worth!!

To Lauza8 if a person have criminal records in Australia have to get fingerprints if you don't have do just your name , I did just my mane and worked, no worries about that, I found the information in the Camberra embassy web.

Thanks dug77. My lawyer queried it and im now case complete as I dont have any convictions! Now waiting for an IL!!!

  8. Congratulations Haljbr!! All the best for you future life in the US!

    Hi,

My interview was 3 days ago.
Its easy to get green card when everything (all docs) are complete.
    And it was my case.

I arrived at 7:00 Am and around 9:00 it was done.
    She just said:

    1. Do you swear say the truth ...
    2. Who did apply to you (my mother)
    3. Is she US citizen (yes)
    4. How many time does she lives there (more than 10 years, around 13 years)
    5. what do you do in brazil (Telecommunications system analyst)
    6. Why do you want go now to USA (I always wanted to go)
    7. What (I want to go to live with my mother)
    8. Ok your visa was aproved.

At points 6 and 7 - I said that I always wanted to go to USA, but she was expecting to hear that I want to live there to be with my mother.
As I can see the main purpose of these type of visa (FB1) is: family reunification. So I must say that I wanna go to be with her

My passport is valid till 7 september, so they must give limit to go 2 months before expiration date. I must be there till 7 july.

Some importantes questions that I learned with my process:
    * unmarried means unmarried. If you was married and divorced you continue being unmarried.
    * Just answer what they ask. Don´t try explain why 1 + 1 = 2. You can be sure they know
    * If you are here on this journey (FB1, FB2,...) you have the RIGHT to have your green card, you are just waiting the queue. Don´t be nervous at interview.
    * Search through forums and advices but always ask for the (legal) source of the information.
    * fill out all the forms, say the truth and have all the docs.

I hope all the good people (just these ones) at this forum can get their visas.

  9. Hi All,

I have a question and not sure if anyone can help.. I have submitted all my docs to NVC and I have received a checklist. Apparently they require a fingerprint check for the time i lived in Australia. (i'm Australian originally), I haven't needed one for the UK. Also, last time I went through this process (K2 visa and I aged out during AOS), I didn't need one.

I obviously will comply with the request, but it will delay everything by a couple months. Does anyone know if this is standard? I'm a bit ticked off at my lawyer that she didn't instruct me to do this in the first place months ago. Is this new? I'm beginning to lack confidence in her.. I know this may vary by country but thought it was worth asking.

    Thanks,
    Lauza8

  10. I just received the exam result.

Does anyone know how does this mean? looks like something is wrong. There is a "X" where says insufficient time interval.

    And in results says:

Vaccine history imcomplete and applicant may be eligible for.......

    Attached

Upon reading that I would suggest you've been given a wavier due to the reason 'insufficient time interval.' That is my guess. Others may know more...

  11. Hi Lauza8.

CEAC status will still be at NVC when they received your documents. I suggest to call NVC after a few days from the time your send your documents just to confirm that they receive your package. It will take about 30 days to review your documents.

And if everything looks good then your case will be "CASE COMPLETED" and then forward it to your appropriate consulate where your interview will take place. star_smile.gifcontent.gifsmile.png

Thanks John21 for response. I'll call on Monday :)

    Cheers,

    Lauza8
