  1. My POE (toronto) experience was quick and pleasant.

I told the immgration officer that I ws entering on a K1 and he directed me to a waiting room.

Once in the room I handed in my sealed envellope, and passport to the officer there. Was called up for finger printing and photo a minute later. I-94 was stamped, passport was stamped and I was on my way.

No one ever needed or wanted to see my x-ray - it is now on the wall in my office.

  2. save your money, fire the lawyer. VJ is better than any lawyer out there. If you have questions, ask them here. Unless of course you already paid up-front for the whole process.

I would tend to agree. After finding VJ I was, quite often, correcting my lawyer - sinking feeling (Her legal assistant even thought I should get into the immigration business!) . I only hired her because I was travelling all over the world on business when I applied for my K1. A necessary evil I suppose.

  3. I had my AOS interview Oct 16. I was approved pending FBI name clearance (oh yay!) Should i apply for AP? i am REALLY wanting to get home sometime in the next few months. Anyone else done this? It's just so hard to figure out if i should do this or not.... my luck, i'd apply for it, then my GC would get approved.... :help:

My AP took more than 3 months to get. You could have your GC in weeks.

  4. My situation and a couple of questions.

    Received EAD and AP.

I will be working for a US company, on location IN CANADA, for 10 days and am flying in for my AOS interview Nov 14th. After the interview I will be flying back to Canada for a few more days to finish the contract. I will then return home to the US.

    Questions:

    1) Do I need to hang on to the I-94 issued with the K1 for presentation at the AOS interview?

(I know from experience with my stamped 'multiple entry' I-94 w/ L1-b visa that every border in and out of the US seemed to have a different idea of what to do with the I-94 ... no consistency)

    2) If I don't get a stamp at the AOS interview will there be any problems re-entering on the AP?

I realise I'm probably worrying about nothing. I's just that I've invested so much time in this process ....

  5. I was also once picked up by the police and taken, hand cuffed, to the station. It was a completely bogus charged initiated by someone I once new that had a history of mental illness, and had just been released from the psyche ward. An absolute freak occurance.

I was cleared and given a ride home by the police 15 min later.

I was not charged and do not have a criminal record - BUT - there was a warrent issued for my arrest and I guess I was arrested ... it was a few yeas ago.

I had my police record check done and it was clear. That was good enough for me.

    I answered NO

You can be arrested for anything (mistaken identity, whatever) and then later cleared.

My two cents is to forget about it.

  6. Yet a republican (and the people he put in their positions) lies to the American to start a unfounded (not based on true and actual facts) war (which incedentially is when the price of gas FIRST went up!) everyone seems to look the other way, scream LIBERAL or STFU...

One of the only reasons the price of gas has gone up is we can not refine it fast enough..(that and big oil wanting more money) there is way more then enough oil out there to make our gas.. just can't make it quick enough .. therefore demand goes up.. and price does too .. ;) There is much more the the price of gas then the war..

The dollar lost some value .. much of the oil in the world is purchased with the US dollar.. one of our stipulations to Saudi a while back .. so when talking about gas .. know the facts.. war didn't make the price go up. its not cut and dry .. that and we purchase 40% of our oil from venezuela anyways..

    :ot2:

Sorry, biggest single supplier of US oil is Canada (2.144 million barrels).

  7. I supplied 1 line.

"Met at linkin Park Show in San Diego. Allyson was working as local set up crew and Tim was working on the touring crew."

Additional supporting evidence was also supplied, a few examples:

Her pay stub from the day.

    My tour shedule.

A notarised afidavit by petitioner summerizing our relationship thus far - in point form.

All the other ####### - photos, email, palne tickets, passport stamps, credit card receipts.

I left little doubt that we had met.

Still got an RFE - (requesting a copy of a passport stamp that I had already given them. UGHHH!)

  8. Previous visas pose no problems, as long as you did not commit any visa violations. I had various US work visas for 14+ years, and an O2 active when I applied for the K1. The EAD is the "Employment Authorization Document" a plastic picture/fingerprint ID card that allows you to work for anyone. (90 day temp. is a stamp I assume ... as I never received one ...hard to say)

I assume there is a stamp in your passport indicating entry on the E1?

I had pages and pages of L1 and O2 entry stamps.

  9. we had a quick legal wedding at the court house 4 days after I crossed on the K1. The other advantage is that we could apply for AOS etc. right away.

It was fun - had some local friends there, bought lunch afterwards.

That was the "fake REAL wedding." ha ha

We are having a "reception" later in Jan 2007 - flying relatives in etc ..

    the "Real FAKE weding."

Dividing it up seems obvious. You have your relationship, and you have legal obligations.

  10. Yes you can visit the US while your 129F is being processed.

I did 4 times at least (Toronto-San Diego) and for extended periods. I was never questioned when I stated the purpose of my visit was to see my fiancee.

It is a good idea to have documents that show ties to your country of citizenship - letter from employer, house deed etc ... to show you will return home. Though I never bothered.

You eventually get interviewed and cross on the K1 visa. Then you won't be going anywhere outside the US for a while.

  11. Oh this takes the cake.

My AP I-512L form was sent to my old address.

I changed it back in July when I moved. Received a conf. letter from USCIS @ new address.

    ALSO

I confirmed that they had my new addess at my infopass appt. and later again on the phone.

LUCKILY - my wife's old roommate happened to swing by the old place and found the letter ... she called me right away and brought it over to me. PHEW!

The best part is that the I-512L letter actually has my new, correct, updated address - just not on the envelope it came in.

Guess I'll wait to see where the EAD shows up.

Frustrating, but at least I got it.

  13. My fiancee came with me to the Montreal K1 interview. Didn't ask her anything. She was very helpfull with the presentation of paperwork during the rapid fire request for documents.

My fiancee was standing to the side a bit and the woman asked me when the last time I saw my fiancee was - "Uh ... she's standing beside me."

When asked for the affidavit of support doc. my fiancee said she "would promise to marry and support me."

The interviewer smiled but said she would still need the peice of paper.

    very quick and painless.
