Canucker,
FYI, my husband just got off the phone with the information line, and they said the actual card was needed before work could begin. They told him it would come in the mail between 1 week and 30 days, but after viewing the timelines, it seems like most people get it a lot quicker than that! I hope this helps!

Thank you! We are very happy! And it only took 60 days from our NOA! This is hopeful information for anyone that is waiting for approval!

Hello,
I checked my case status this morning to see if there was any news...and my EAD was approved! The message says that my card will be mailed shortly. I already have a job offer, and they want me to start asap. Can I start now, since my application is approved? Or...do I need to wait until I get the card? Thanks!

I was wondering what is the situation about working for a company before you get your EAD, if you may work with them eventually?
Can you work in a voluntary/training situation, or are USCIS strict on working in any capacity before you get an EAD?
Also how long is the wait for the EAD? I sent mine in mid March.
Thanks.

I have a couple of questions about the advanced parole document,
in part 3 just before question 4 it says:
"if you are applying for an advanced parole document, skip to part 7"
do you fill in Q's 4 and 5 in part 3 which are after where it says to skip?
also in part 7 what do you write to explain that you qualify for advanced parole?
thanks for the help

thanks for everybody for your help,
i ended up calling immigration because it seems that only some people get a numbers on their i-94 or possibly on other forms.
what they told me was that a k-1 does not get an a# because they are not an intending immigrant until they get married and on the forms they said to just put "NONE"
i will be issued an A# when the application is being processed, so thats something that might be of interest to some other.
thanks again for all the help

I was wondering if you can work with a company whike your AOS, EAD is pending, if you are in a voluntary role or internship and are not getting paid.
Are they strict on saying that you cannot accept any sort of employment what so ever voluntary or otherwise?
just wondering because i want to know what i can say when i'm on the job hunt.
thanks

I heard that you can send in personal checks with your application I-485 to the Chicago lock box. However, on the USCIS website, it says Chicago does not accept personal checks. I am thinking that that may be for the regular Chicago office, rather than the lock box. Does anyone know if you can send personal checks to Chicago Lockbox?
Thanks!

Just a quick question on the fees we have to payfor the whole AOS/EAD thing,
do you put seperate cheques for each form, ie one for AOS, one for EAD and one for biometrics, and is it just one 70 dollar fee for the biometrics that we send, because it asks for it twice in both the AOS and EAD?
the next question is can we use a personal cheque or do we have to get a bankers draft or money order, similar to what we had to do for the visa at the embassy?
Thanks again!

Cheers Chris
my visa dosen't have anything under the annotation on the visa, or on the I-94 is it supposd to?
maybe I should just put unknown?
thanks for the help on the occupation thing
-
I saw on other peoples queries that on the visa they have numbers with an A in front of them,
my visa just has the control number in black and the non-immigrant number in red, there is no number with a letter A infront of it anywhere, not on the I94, or on any form from the USCIS for the fiance petition my fiance received
do we just put not known or can we call the immigration office or something to find out?
help!

in the AOS, EAD forms it keeps asking for my A#, in some places it says A# if any.
there is on the biographic information forms two places to put numbers,
one is on the top is "file number" with an A in the box,
while another is in the bottom of the form there is a box where it says put your name and alien reg. #, there is a space for the alien regristration number, but i don't know what it is, is it the visa number or the I-94 number, or something completly different
also what about your current occupation on the AOS form, as i'm not working now since the wedding do i leave it blank or put in what i normally would do??
any ideas anybody? cheers for all the help
i'll be so happy when these forms are sent in and the whole thing starts to be processed

Hello,
I am about to send the EAD application with the AOS and I have a question about what category to fill in on line 16 of the form, it says to go to part 2 of the instructions, it says for K-1 fiance of US citizens is category (a) 6, but it then says that it can be filed under category c 9, with a receipt or other evidence that the AOS is pending, and then it says that both the AOS and EAD, can be filed together????
we are not sure which to put on the form and what about the recepit, you obviously can't send a recepit for the AOS to put in with the EAD if they are sent together?
please help!!
also is there an issue if you don't file for AOS within 90 days of entering the country?
thanks for all your help, this website is a Godsend

is there a vacc supplemtent form you need to bring to the doc's officefor them to fill in or do they have one there? if you need to bring one where do you get it?
sorry bout the constant Q's
-
I was wondering if you have to send the vaccination supplement with the AOS forms, I didn't see on the instructions if you had to.
If anybody us can help in this, please do.

I got married to my fiance almost a week ago and we are getting our AOS, EAD forms together now. I was wondering if someone coukd help me out with information on getting the vaccination/medical letter from a doctor, I have no idea where to go for it. I had a mediacl done at home in Ireland before my visa was approved and I saw that I only need a vaccination document or something on the AOS forms.
If anyone can help me it would be really appreciated.
Also does it say on the Advanced Parole where you intend to go, what if you go somewhere different to whats you put on the form? are they strict on that?
sorry about all the questions.

Does anyone know how strict they are about reasons for requesting advance parole. For example, if we were going to visit my husbands family, or take a family cruise for grandparents anniversary, are those good enough reasons?...or does it have to be an extreme circumstance? Thanks!

Do you need to send in a certified copy of your marriage certificate with the AOS packet?
EAD approvals lately?

I sent in the EAD with the AOS package on March 17th.
My EAD was approved about 60 days after the NOA date (March 23rd) and I received the EAD card the following week.
Hope that helps, it should not be too much longer, but you can never be sure.
