Hi everyone! Back on here again
We filed May 22 @ VSC, NOA1 date is May 25. Looks like we've got a year to wait -
Well. It's been a while since I've gotten on here! In March we got an interview waiver notice. Supposedly we should hear by September 15th.
Here's hoping!
-
Well... We are a little bit late on this one but 3 weeks ago we got an interview waiver notice in the mail. Sooo looks like they will just send us the GC whenever they get to it?
-
just received my EAD card.,,they delivered it before Monday expected delivery date when it's heavily snowing outside! Thanks!!
I didn't apply for my AP along with it..but thinking of applying for it now...will 90 days start to count from original filing date or when I actually file for AP...
Now hope to receive AOS interview notice soon....
any idea how many days after EAD will you receive interview notice?
GC applications are processed by local offices is what customer service told us this last week, not NBC so I think that differs depending on your local office's workload, etc.
Anyone else hear similar?
-
Yes! Exactly! We included stuff from when we first met in 2006, but also included things from our most recent visits. Just make sure you have strong evidence of having seen each other in the past 2 years. It sounds like you have a handle on this!

EAD IS HERE!!!!!
-
Combo card arrived today!
-
We got AP approval letter last week - was dated Feb 12. Apparently the combo card was sent last Friday- but we are still waiting on it. USPS said it was supposed to be delivered yesterday, but nothing yet . Hang in there- usually the two are approved at the same time but it seems lately that EAD is taking a few days more to get to people.
-
We got the approval notice in the mail for AP today - dated February 12th. No news on EAD yet but I'm assuming it's coming soon
Whoop!
NOA date 12/8
Biometrics 12/30
No RFEs
-
No news for us yet NOA date was December 8th, biometrics were done December 30th. Still waiting... Our last update is December 4th saying "fingerprint fee received." We're calling tomorrow to follow-up if we don't hear anything tonight.

Marriage license is a permission to get married...and has no absolute
relevance to whether the marriage actually took place or not.
Also, marriage license is no official record of marriage,
and I've not heard of SSA accepting marriage license as a proof of marriage.
I've not received any mail about interview (or waiver).
We did biometric almost 5 weeks ago, and we are still waiting for EAD/AP approval.
One way to check the processing time is to go look at November filing thread
as only few December filers are now getting approved.
Calm yourself and be nice dude! Seriously!
So- my county refers to the legal document that records your marriage as a certified copy of the marriage license. The term license and certificate are used interchangeably in some jurisdictions.
WHAT I MEANT WAS: The legal document that provides proof of marriage. Happy?
-
Ahh yes- make sure you do it before your I-94 expires in any event!!!
-
Didn't want to bump this but i will instead of starting a new thread.
first question is who do we speak to to make sure the ds 3025 is filled out right? is that the guys from Knightsbridge in the UK?
if thats filled out properly we dont need a new medical? if so then what do we send?
Knightsbridge will give you the 3025. The doc my fiance saw gave him the form and reminded him to hold on to it- that it would be important later on.
It's just a single sheet of paper - they will actually staple a little note to it telling you to hold on to it.
If you file for AOS within a year of your Knightsbridge medical - you don't need a new exam.
-
According to the guide, it's better to get the SSN issued with the same name used on the I-94. Easy to change afterwards.
Sure- changing is super easy! However, it can involve spending several hours at your local social security office, depending on how busy they are
Just be prepared for your local office to be potentially confused - although we had someone who had worked there for over 30 years, he had NEVER done a SSN for anyone entering the US on a K visa.
-
Is she planning on taking your last name? If so- I would wait until after the wedding ceremony to avoid an additional trip to the social security office. Otherwise, what everyone above said
-
Actually in our case do. In her country she just had a first name, Just Priyanka. The US embassy forced that it would be considered last name and wrote FNU (First name unknown). So the visa was issued in FNU Priyanka. Social security recognizes only that name. Based one the marriage she would have an option to add a last name or change the last name. Hence with the marriage certificate it would be FNU Priyanka (my last name) or FNU Priyanka. (Yes I know its a nightmare). I applied all paperwork in Priyanka (my last name), and the EAD card is coming in that name. Apparently if that happens, my SS office here will recognize and do a (according to them) a complete name change. Hope I have cleared the situation. Its a pain when your K! spouse is coming into the country with only one name.
Well that's certainly wild! Good luck with all of that!

Got EAD production confirmation on Friday - Feb 13th. I am expecting by this Friday to have it in the mail. Will use it to change the name on Social security card. One thing at a time .
Also whats AP?
No status change if interview has been scheduled or not. I am expecting it in March to be honest.
You don't need to use the EAD to change your name on your social - if you have marriage license you can change your name with SSA.
-
Hello Vj friends,i finished my biometric yesterday
1/28..until now my status didn't change..is it normal?thanks for all your insight
Our status didn't change after biometrics either.
-
So we just included an OFFICIAL copy of our marriage certificate. As my foreign hubby had only been in the US for two weeks when we filed, we hadn't gotten the chance to do any bank accounts or anything. For ROC you will need the additional evidence (bank accounts, leases/mortgages, utility bills, etc.). Anyway. We didn't get any RFE's (we're just waiting for processing at this point) so I think we did it ok

Here's the short answer. If he has money, he can attend the moment he sets foot on US soil. He'd likely end up paying international student fees or out-of-state tuition, likely whichever one is higher. He can legally attend whenever.
.
That being said...
Once he has a green card, he can file a FAFSA and get federal aid and (most likely depending on the state you're in - qualify for in-state tuition). I'd wait until then (green card) to do the school stuff. Work for a few months, get assimilated, and then dive into school

1) do I buy a one way, or return plain ticket?
2) how long does it take (usually) for my visa to be ready to collect?
3)at my embassy interview they didn't take a passport photo from me.. They asked for it, then returned it to me. Is this what they normally do?
4) should I end my mobile phone contract here in the uk, then buy a new phone in America, or can I somehow use my phone over there?
There will probably be more questions as I get ready to leave...lol
Thank you in advance?
Andi
1. Return or one-way - whatever is cheapest. Just make sure if you buy a return that you cancel the second leg or the airlines will get stupidly mad at you about it. Also bear in mind sometimes random cheap fares come up for major US destinations (NYC, Chicago, Boston, DC, Atlanta) and some Canadian ones (Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver ). Sometimes getting one of those big flights and then a separate booking for the internal flight can be cheaper - We have found this to be the case on some occasions. Norwegian air is like Ryan Air - super bargain basement fares (no food or anything - bring snacks!) but you can get a ticket for like $500 usd.
2. Visa is quick - we got it within 5 days, delivered.
3. They scan the passport photo. Don't worry.
4. We switched to O2 pay as you go to keep UK number. With an iPhone you can receive texts and whatnot on a British and/or US iPhone by using iCloud - nifty little trick we discovered.
-
I usually had to call 20-30 times to get through, and then waited on hold for 60-90 minutes before talking to someone. Hang in there and keep trying!

Hi guys!
Has anyone received any updates on advance parole and employment authorization? How long is this going to take? I feel in limbo. This is the status from USCIS website.
On November 28, 2014, we received your Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization , Receipt Number MSCXXXXXXX, and sent you the receipt notice that describes how we will process your case. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you do not receive your receipt notice by December 28, 2014, please call Customer Service at 1-800-375-5283. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.
Well.
You are in limbo! Hang tight - it looks like from VJ estimates that you'll hear something in the next 2-3 weeks. We are all still waiting. It's been taking approximately 2.5-3.5 months for people to get EAD & AP adjudicated. I'm hoping we hear something by Valentine's Day!

Hang in there guys. Wait it out. It sucks waiting, and I remember feeling super frustrated and upset that CSC processed so much quicker than TSC. The wait is worth it. It doesn't help your frustration right now, but it will be over soon. In the meanwhile... Plan your weddings! Get your homes ready for your fiance to move in! Get stuff ready for NOA2 and the interview! Research the other stuff you need to know once your honey gets here (like getting a license, getting SSN, getting bank account, getting them added to your bills, etc.). The extra "once they're here" stuff takes up so much more time than I ever anticipated!
We waited over 6 months for any news from USCIS. It took about 11 months for him to get here - and that was with us scouring the boards for every last shortcut we could find. Read the guides, read the forums, figure out ways to create as many shortcuts for yourselves as you can.
I was mad about waiting months and months while CSC filers got approved in a matter of days. I contacted all of my local/state legislators. It doesn't do any good unless you have extenuating circumstances!!!! It's bull, and it stinks, but just sit back, relax, wait.
They'll be here soon.
And once they're here... you'll forget about how much waiting was the worst thing ever. I promise!

in Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion

Hello hello everyone,
5/23 VSC ROC filer here. Just updated the google doc with my info.
Now we wait
A little deja-vu from Summer 2014 when I was frantically waiting for my now husband's I-129F to be approved!!! Looks like we've got about 12-13 months until we get that 10 year GC in hand.
Anyone else thinking about naturalization next year?
