when you call them you will most likely be on hold for a very long time. when they do pick up the phone they will ask you for your !i-130 receipt number. and if they have any good news they will ask for the petitioner and the beneficary's birthday. they say it takes 30 busniess days to get the nvc case number but it can take less or more. so just call often and ask. everytime i call ifind out something new
your nvc case number is important because until you dont get your nvc number your file will not be looked at or worked on.
while you wait for your nvc case number you should gather some paper work from pakistan. Such as the nikkah naama which will need to be attested from the foreign office, the beneficiary's 2 passport size pictures, a police certificate(background check), and the beneficiary's birth certificate.
