I had the oath ceremony today, 177 new citizens from 47 countries.

After the ceremony, We had to fill out an application for the new social security card and voter registration card . The whole process took 1h.

Finally, my journey is over:)

in my case they just asked to bring all passports and travel document current and expired issued to me by any government .

Hello everyone, I would like to stat a post about ramadan recipies, so I'm starting with the Traditional Moroccan soupe or HARIRA .

Moroccan Harira

Ingredients

1 large onion 1 tablespoon Paprika

3 cloves garlic 1 tablespoon Turmeric

5 -6 tomatoes 1 small pinch Saffron crushed (if desired)

1 cup meat cubed 1/2 cup garbanzo beans (soaked overnight)

1 bunch parsley 1/4 cup lentils (washed)

1/2 bunch cilantro 1 cup Vermicelli pasta (broken to small pieces)

1 can tomato paste 1/4 cup flour

Olive oil 4 cups water

1 teaspoon Salt

1 teaspoon Black Pepper

Instructions

Heat olive oil in large stockpot.

Puree onion and garlic in food processor. Add to pot and sauté.

Add meat and brown until almost cooked.

Puree tomatoes and add along with another dash of olive oil

Either finely chop or puree parsley and cilantro (w/ tomatoes) and add

Add salt, pepper, paprika, turmeric (and saffron if desired- I do)

Add water and can of tomato paste

Bring to a boil and add lentils and beans

Once beans are cooked, add pasta

Let simmer

If too thick, add water. If too thin, add flour/water paste

Adjust spices to desired taste

See, that is what I thought too... not about the border jumping! lol But that this is really not making fun of a particular race but showing the humor in some mistakes made in LANGUAGE BARRIERS. Like I will tell on myself for a second. My husband is Canadian, however he is French Canadian. When I went to his country and met his family for the first time, we were going to play cards. His father was testing me to see if I was fully listening and understanding. He said, "Let's Play Strip Tease." He must have said it with a really thick accent cuz I heard "TREIZE." (Which is 13 in French.) My husband had taught me and my children this game his family likes to play. So when my father in law said, "strip tease." I smiled and said, "Yes let's, that is my daughter's favorite!" My husband and his mother looked at me like "What?!? You are crazy!" So I asked, "Isn't Treize 13 in French?" My husband said yes and laughed, but he didn't say "treize, he said strip tease." His dad started laughing and I was like "What? NO! " So, for me being through some of my own big misunderstandings with language barriers, this is particularly funny without picking on a specific race, make sense?
