  1. came in a k1 visa in early June 2014, everything went smoothly, applied for adjustment of status end of June 2014, biometrics done in july, got EAD and Advanced parole early September 2014. Ever since then, nothing. On the Uscis website the message I get is STILL "On June 27, 2014, we accepted the fingerprint fee for your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status". No movement in quite some time. Is this normal? How do I know if my application is still at the "MSC" or at my local office? How do I find out if my application is lost somewhere in the piles of applications at the NBC? Is there any way to find out?

Sure this has been asked many times but so much info on here that I am having a difficult time pinpointing the info I really want.

  2. I entered on a K1 visa in June. Got married and filed for AOS, AP and EAD by the end of June. My husband and I moved to a new apartment on july 1st, we did the address change bit with USCIS on July 3rd,

Online, I was approved for my I-131 August 27; they said they had sent me out my approval notice. I was approved for my EAD at the same time (card in production).

Last Friday I noticed that on the USCIS website they said my card was "undeliverable" by USPS. And...I never received my approval notice for my travel document.

Seems they only changed the address on the "I-485" application but not on the I131 and I765.

Luckily, I was able to go to the local post office before my EAD card was returned but I never received the approval for travel document (cause they had the wrong address it seems).

I just spent 45 minutes on the phone with USCIS about this whole address mix up and (surprise surprise)they told me to wait 30 days for any action.

NOW, the question is; can I travel with the combo card? Or do I REALLY need the I-131 approval notice also?

  3. I just interviewed in Montreal on May 13. I did not have any DS-156 form, nor did they ask for them. You could always fill it out and bring it but its a waste of time and energy IMHO. The DS-160 "replaces" (for lack of a better word) it.

here is what i brought to the interview, for K1 visa:

-Passport and photocopy of biographic page

    -Medical examination

    -2 passport photos

    -confirmation page of the DS-160

-intent to marry letter (dated close to interview date) from petitioner

-birth certificate and copy (translated to English as mine was in French)

    -Police certificate

-form I-134, with recent federal income tax returns employment slips and bank statements from petitioner

-proof of relationship (photos, boarding passes, chat logs, emails)

I was approved so, I think I had all the necessary papers!

Of course, if needed, you would need to bring divorce certificate, custody documents etc...

    Good luck :)

  4. Of course there are people who are not in legit relationships. Hard for me to judge ; I am from Canada, I have never experienced war, natural disasters, extreme poverty, I have a good job, free healthcare, a pretty good quality of life (except for the horrid winters...).

It makes me more sad than angry; sad to see that some people see it as their only resort, to sell yourself short, to be with someone only for the "papers", to not experience true, unconditional love.

There are "scammers", of course but there are so many genuine people, truly in love. And sometimes, things just don't work out, whether you're from the same country or not.

I love my fiance to the moon and back, we have been dating 3 years and we are ready to finally be together - in the same country.

  5. we also filed at TSC. petition sent out on November 26 2013, NOA1 on Dec 3, NOA2 Feb 18 2014, had my interview at Montreal consulate(approved)on May 13 and am now waiting for my visa. So yeah, took about 5 months for us. Of course, it could be more or less, all kinds of factors come in to it. Our case was pretty straightforward: I was born in Canada, he was born in the US, neither of us have been married before, we visited on a monthly basis, he has a good job to support us financially.

    Good luck

  6. Hello all! ... so many questions!

So...I attended my K1 interview at the Montreal consulate on May 13. Everything went as planned, I was approved (yay!). I thought the "big" stress would be over but now find myself waiting for my visa and checking the CEAC website constantly. I know many people have posted on this topic but am looking to get personal experiences (mostly from Montreal consulate). I am aware that it has only been 10 days but; I have been at "Ready" ever since the interview. My case has been "updated" on the 21st, what does that mean? I am worried because I am seeing many peeps getting AP before their visas are issued. Am I freaking out for nothing here? Has anyone been stuck at "Ready" and then went straight to "issued"?. How long am I going to wait? Lady at the consulate said "1-2 weeks". I just want to know if this is progressing as it should. Any experience you have had would be of great comfort to me... thanks in advance.good day! :)

  7. Definitely need the long form. I ordered my long form BC, in French - as they will only issue it in the language the birth was registered- , received it within 2 weeks. I got it translated at REV.com, 25 bucks I believe, had the translation within 48 hours via email. Printed a copy, brought my original French BC along with the translated copy to the interview (Montreal) and there were no issues.

  8. Any US citizen may accompany; you must have your passport. As for getting there early, I heard of some people being turned away and told to "come back later" (but this is just hear-say). My interview is in Montreal on May 20th at 8am and my American fiance will be there.

  9. thanks for the links/info. I only have a "short form" bc so I opted to order a long form birth certificate in English. (hopefully they send me an English one, that's what I asked for...)should be here in 2 weeks or so, which is fine. STILL no appointments available in Montreal so it seems like I have plenty of time!

  10. Not sure if I'm in the right place to ask this;

I am awaiting packet 4 for K1 visa (from Montreal)...so I know that I still have plenty of time to finish preparing my paperwork. On the checklist it specifies to translate birth certificate (or any other paperwork) to English. I was born in the province of Quebec, my birth certificate is in French. Where do I go to get a a birth certificate translated to English?

    thx in advance!

  11. I am a Canadian citizen, just sent out packet 3 (to Montreal); sent DS-160 confirmation, biographic page of my passport and a scanned copy of signed checklist. Those are the only items that were on my "list" of things to email.

Maybe I am getting ahead of myself here but on the Packet 4 checklist it says you need to bring the DS260 confirmation. I am confused and am getting conflicting answers. Do I actually need to do the DS-260 also?

Also, does my fiance need to fill out the I-134 or the I-864? Whats the difference?

Any info/input would be greatly appreciated!

    thx

  12. thx...we are not married yet, but assuming we get married before we go to Italy, then apply for spousal visa/family reunion visa (before leaving) -I should be good to go to Italy, correct?

Could we not apply for the CR-1 while living in Italy? (I hear its a long process). When we come back from Italy after a year I would think that CR-1 process would be pretty much complete...and then deal with the AOS

  13. "Do they give priority to other countries from North America, rather than any other?"

I tell you one thing, they sure as hell don't give priority to Canada. And with the timelines I have been seeing of many Canadian applicants I seriously think that they see a Canadian application and put it in a different pile. "we'll deal with those Canadians later..."

    in any case...good luck!
