  1. Hello Fellow VJ'ers,

Our K-3 has reached the Embassy and we are scheduled for an interview this week.

    • I wanted to confirm that we are indeed submitting the I-134 for a K-3 visa?
    • Are we allowed to have a sponsor? My income is not sufficient as I am a student and the remainder in my savings is not 3 times the difference.
    • In the event we are allowed to have a sponsor, what forms should I request from him/her?
    • Does my husband need originals of all the sponsors documents or can copies be accepted? (having trouble finding ways to ship to a residential address in Kabul atm so would be scanning the documents to him)

    Thank you all in advance.

  2. I am so confused.

My I-130 and I-129F (K-3) were both approved on January 28th. I was under the assumption that this meant the K-3 would automatically be "dropped" and NVC would therefore only process my I-130. Until I received the following in the mail today from DOS/NVC:

    Dear XXXXXX,

The National Visa Center (NVC) received your spouse's approved I-129F petition from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). The NVC will now forward the petition to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate in KABUL. The U.S. Embassy or Consulate will contact your spouse when they are ready to process his or her petition.

In the meantime, please have your spouse and his or her children visit ceac.state.gov and complete Form DS-160 to apply for a K visa.

Please keep the following information for your records:

    Case Number ............................KBLxxxxxxxxxxx

    USCIS Receipt Number..............MSCxxxxxxxxx

    Principal Application..............(My husband)

    Petitioner............... (My name)

    Interview Location.................KABUL

    U.S. EMBASSY KABUL

    GREAT MASSOUD ROAD

    KABUL AFGHANISTAN

    Sincerely,

    U.S. Department of State

    Bureau of Consular Affairs

I checked online at ceac.state.gov and it says:

    U.S. Department of State

    IMMIGRANT VISA APPLICATION
    In Transit
    Immigrant Visa Case Number: KBLXXXXXXX
Your case is in transit to the Consular Section. Your interview date was provided to you by the National Visa Center.
I called NVC and they basically told me that they have sent it to the embassy in Kabul and I should contact them for my interview date.
Im confused. What happens to my I-130? If i choose to go through with the K-3, I know that I will ultimately have to go through AOS here in the U.S., but does this process allow my husband to get here sooner? I realized that they are not asking for any of the documents ie. affidavit of support, marriage certificate from me. Do I send all originals to my husband? so lost.
  3. Yesterday my husband was nearly killed in an attack steps away from his home. This is the way I have been living..constantly filled with anxiety and worry for his safety and well-being. And today (12:30am EST) this: On January 28, 2014, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN.

I happened to come across this website after I applied and have been following this forum since June. What an emotional rollercoaster it has been for everyone! All the best to my fellow June filers.

congrats .. were u transferred to nsc ?

    Congratulations!!

Welcome to the group, pull up a chair! I've added your info to our transfer spreadsheet. Could you let me know the date of your transfer notice?

Congrats on your approval! Your situation sounds terrifying, have you looked into whether he qualifies for an expedite? NVC expedites cases separately from USCIS so you may have a chance at hurrying along the next step in the process. Could you also share with us if/when your petition was transferred, and where to? Thanks so much and congrats again.

Thank you and sorry for the delay in responding! Our PD is June 24th, transferred to CSC on January 7th, ARN changed on January 15th and approved on January 28th. (The time between ARN change and approval had me worried as I know this change typically indicates a same-day approval).

@BOS_LHR Wasn't aware the NVC expedited separately. Although I have the majority of documents ready, I am most concerned about A. our particular embassy and B. mandatory AP. Would you be able to tell me where I can get more information on the NVC expedite process?

  5. Hello fellow VJers! I have been fortunate enough to spend the last few weeks with my husband after what seemed to be years apart. I was hoping the next time I would be posting on this forum would be in regards to my approval, as both my I-130 and I-129F were transferred to CSC on January 7th (I received the consecutive alerts on the 8th then 9th). However, on January 15th, I received an alert that my alien registration number had been changed and I have yet to receive anything further. I know that this indicates an approval/RFE is near so I am becoming more and more concerned. Any thoughts on what the hold up could be?
