  1. NVC has assigned our I-129F a case number today and is going to be sending it off to the embassy, all while they have not even received the I-130 yet. There is hope for us not having to make the Montreal trek!

Anyone hoping for the K3 in Van, all I can suggest is calling and pestering whoever you can to get them to send the I-129F NOA2 prior to the I-130 NOA2. Ours was held for only a few days, but at this point, it's making all the difference!

  2. Teacup, I don't know how much help it is, but we were receiving the same ####### responses when we were trying to change our address- none were relevant to the questions I was asking. I finally got fed up and sent an email to the big wigs and was assigned a specific person to help me.

The first email i sent was to the general email address, nscfollowup.ncsc@uscis.dhs.gov. It said it would take seven days to get back to me (we had an RFE mailed to an incorrect address, so it was time sensitive) and when I didn't have it on the 8th day I sent an email to the following:

    To: nscfollowup.ncsc@uscis.dhs.gov
    Cc: SCOPSSCATA@uscis.dhs.gov, Lori.Scialabba@dhs.gov, donald.w.neufeld@uscis.dhs.gov, OLUInquiries@dhs.gov,
I also sent a letter outlining my requests/questions to their fax line - 402-219-6171.
Two days after sending that, I got a response from someone named Stephanie Guevara (her signature said Management and Program Analyst, Liaison and Coordination Branch
Customer Service and Public Engagement Directorate ) who offered to look into the issue for us.
She did wind up getting our address changed, and ultimately our approval without us needing to respond to the RFE (the RFE basically made it look like someone had actually just issued it before they looked at any of our documentation)

Might be worth a shot if you're not getting anywhere with them? Something to note - if you and your spouse reside outside of the USA, their systems actually can NOT maintain an international address and has to be manually changed whenever they are mailing something out to you (it is also impossible to update/change an international address using their online tool). We went through the same thing with various documents that were sent out - they all ended up in Overland Park, Kansas. You'd think they'd be better prepared to deal with these sorts of things!

  3. Well, after getting notice of an RFE two weeks ago but never getting it in the mail, our cases were updated with an approval at about 9pm last night. We did request an expedite on the I-129f due to the cost we would get hit with if we had to travel to Montreal for our interview (the k3 interview can be done here in Vancouver), which may have helped us get approved a bit faster, unfortunately it still looks like we'll be hanging on by the edge of our seats to see which one gets to the embassy first!

Good luck to everyone, hopefully we'll all be done with this process before we know it!

  4. We got an RFE notice via text/email yesterday, but after calling to see if they could fax or email me the document because we literally just moved yesterday, tier 2 told me they could NOT see an RFE anywhere on either of our cases.

They won't let me update my address as both myself and my husband live in Canada, so it will be interesting to see 1. If we actually have an RFE 2. If we ever actually get the thing in the mail. I've emailed the general Nebraska email to request they change our address, but who knows how long that might take!

  5. Well we have news finally, sort of. After follow ups with USCIS on a regular basis, we received an RFE alert yesterday by text/email. Either Nebraska went ahead with the expedite, or they're actually working on the promised timeline - who knows! The trouble with this is we received the notification for both our I-130 and I-129F - I'm really hoping they're not processing them together, or they obviously missed the point of our expedite request

I had called last week as we were planning to move yesterday, but was told I could not update my address until we had actually completed our move (since that obviously makes total sense...not). I called in the morning to see if there was any way I could have the RFE re-mailed to our new address (in parallel with updating our address on file to our new address) and was told there was NO record of an RFE on our case. Not only that, but they CANNOT update international addresses in their systems and I can either snail mail Nebraska a letter requesting the change or email their general email address (which will probably be just as slow as snail mail). So what the heck? Do we have an RFE or not? Apparently even if they eventually see an RFE in their systems, it's against policy to email it or fax it to me. I know this is BS because they faxed me the letter requesting more info on our expedite request.

Oh how I can't wait for this to be finished. Ok, rant over. :)

  6. I just basically cleared out October and threw some November headers in there. I've left it completely edit-able because I probably won't have time to maintain it or create a proper form for it, so if someone would like me to pass it onto them just let me know smile.png I realize in doing this open for edits it also lets everyone with the link see my email, I don't think there's any way to suppress that unless we move to a form-based response.

If I've completely missed the mark here or you want different info in it, let me know and I will try to figure it out (I say this with hesitation because my excel skills are limited)...

  7. Well, we have an update, but no resolution.

The first time I called in, I was told not to call back and that we would receive some type of "correspondence" by the 25th. When we still hadn't received anything by yesterday (the 27th), I gave them a call. Went through the process of speaking with Tier 1, getting transferred to Tier 2, only to find out they had requested more evidence to support our expedite request on the 21st. The letter was apparently mailed to us that day, but the immigration officer I spoke with said he could fax it over.

A few minutes later I receive the fax, with our mailing address as the NBC address in Overland Park, KS. No wonder we haven't received it, ugh.

I've faxed back our documentation (sample costs of flights, hotels, as well as our monthly expenses that show we really can't afford to go to Montreal when we have the option of Vancouver) this morning, and requested they update our address. Hopefully, with how quickly they looked at the initial request, they will get back to us with a decision soon!

  8. Absolutely PNW, if we somehow get this through maybe by some chance it will open a door for others. I'll let you all know as soon as we hear anything!

I called their general line - 1(800)375-5283 , hit #1, #2, entered the I-129F receipt number, then hit #3. That took me to a Tier 1 rep.

When they transferred me through from Tier 1 to Tier 2, the wait time on the recording was 65 minutes. I entered my number for them to call me back on when I reached the front of the line, which happened in almost exactly the 65 minutes stated. Just make sure you listen closely to the number the read out, in my case, they listed the number I was transferred from as the call back number, not my actual number.

Good luck to you (and everyone else on here) as well! Hopefully we'll all have good news for each other in the not too distant future smile.png

  9. Hi Everyone,

We're in a similar situation to what it sounds like you all are - we live in Vancouver and have sent in both the I-130 and I-129F. After reading the general negativity on the boards here about the K3, I figured we might be a lost cause with trying for it.

As a last ditch effort before I just give into the fact that we're going to be stuck going to Montreal for the interview, I called in and explained our situation to a Tier 1 yesterday morning. They were shocked to hear Montreal was our only option, and immediately put me through to a Tier 2 to file a service request (their suggestion). The Tier 2 I spoke with was also surprised to hear that we'd have to go to Montreal, especially considering the interview for the K3 and CR1 are essentially the same interview. I made sure to have estimated prices for everything before I called, from flights and hotels to food and transportation while there. He took note of everything I said, and then told me that he could would a service request asking for expediting due to "Significant financial loss". I explained to him that we didn't necessarily even need anything expedited, we just wanted to show preference for the I-129F. He told me we didn't have any other way of voicing that other than via expedite request. We have a few other circumstances involved with our case that I also added to the service request, but my biggest point was that we would end up spending significantly more on the CR1 than we would on the K3. After he submitted it, he wished me the best and said that if it were up to him, our service request would be approved. We're due to hear back from them, whether it be a request for more info or an approval/denial, by Feb 5th (Monday). Hopefully by email, and not snail mail...

Fingers crossed for the best, but not expecting much- although I definitely had a better experience customer service wise than it sounds like many have with the USCIS!

  10. Hi Everyone!

As a forum newbie I suppose there's no better place to start than here! Thanks to TeaCup for the forum suggestion good.gif

I'm the US Citizen, Thomas an Irish Citizen, both of us living in Vancouver, Canada as Permanent Residents after quite a lengthy hassle with immigration up here. We've been here 3 years now and were recently married here in Vancouver on 10/24, and submitted for the I-130 on 11/14, receiving our NOA1 on 11/18.

I know VJ has the general view that the K3 is obsolete and expensive, but we're at a point where we just want to be down in the US as quick as possible so we're willing to have a shot at it. We mailed the I-129F on 11/26 and received the NOA1 for that on 12/5.

Both were sent to Nebraska, and it's looking like they've been paired up at this point. On 12/11 we received the following updates on our case statuses:

"On December 11, 2013, your Alien Registration Number was changed relating to your I130, IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN"

    &

"On December 11, 2013, your Alien Registration Number was changed relating to your I129F, PETITION FOR FIANCE(E)."

My assumption is that they were updating our info after the I-129F was received. Of course I'd love to believe it means that we're going to get approval, but I'm pretty sure that would be wishful thinking ;)

Anyway, I've updated my timeline to what I think is correct (again, I emphasize the newbie status), and I'm crossing my fingers and toes for all of us November-ites!

A happy and safe early New Year to you all as well!
