  1. Once you have in hand your SSN and GC, you will be idle about paperworks preparation till the next step-I 751 which will take place in 2 yrs time.Relax and chill out for the meantime! :-)

That's right, relax and time to have a good time. :)

Thank you all for all your responses. :)

  2. Is the name on your SS card showing your married name in the traditional format where you have your maiden last name as your middle name now, and your husband's last name as yours? Are you planning to use the traditional married name format? If so you may just want to update your green card.

Hi Hank. Yes the SS card is on the traditional format and yes I'd like to kepp it that way just so its consistent with my documents in the Philippines.

I'm waiting on the green card hopefully I get it this week too. How would I update the name on the green card then?

Did you pay the immigrant fee of $165?

Hi apple21, yes I did pay it a day before I left PI.

FYI, the SS card is for government purposes, benefits, etc... The GC is for your status as a LPR, conditional or not, and allows you to travel outside the US and return while the GC is still valid. I hope this helps.

Thank you carton25. Now I'd really just want to update the green card once I get it just so it's consistent with my Philippine passport and some other docs.

  3. Hello all.

I got here in the US last January 20th. Today, I received my social security card. Kinda confusing that the middle name on the ss card is my maiden name. Would that create any problem given that all my USCIS docs has a different middle name which was my mother's maiden name?

Also, since I am on a CR1 category anything else we have to worry about now besides the removal of conditions which is in 2 years?

    Thanks.

  4. Congratulations. Welcome to the United States.

Very cold there in South Dakota, but it's a nice place to live and lots to see. I'm a neighbor of yours from Minnesota, but now living in North Carolina with my wife.

Thank you Greenbaum. It is very nice and very cold too. I think Im adjusting well. Best wishes to you and your wife. :)

    Congratulations!

    Thank you icebryker. :)

  5. Hi everyone! I arrived here in SD last January 20th. I had an unventful flight. POE was Denver and I was surprised immigration process at POE took less than 20 minutes and I was given the sweetest "Welcome to America" greeting.

I'ts a wonderful feeling to have the stress of immigration process, the agony of waiting and anticipation all behind us now. My husband and I are just so happy. We are already married back in PI but my parents in law have arranged a wedding reception for us in March so I can meet all the relatives. Time for me to be nervous my husband would jokingly say. I am excited, I am with a good man with a good family.

I just wanna do a special shoutout to Cessypaul27 and Gelene8. I hope you girls are doing awesome too.

To all the VJers, thank you and I wish you all the happiness we all deserve.

    God Bless!
