  1. Hi everyone,

I just got married on the K-1 Fiancee visa and we are now applying for Adjustment of Status. My wife completed her physical exam and tests, but was unable to get most of the required vaccinations because of a medical condition in her home country, and it looks like we have to get them here in the USA. The civil surgeons I called want to charge huge amounts of money for a physical, tests, and overpriced vaccines, so I'm looking for an alternative.

    1. My wife says her sealed medical packet documenting her medical exam overseas was taken from her by immigration. It seems the civil surgeons here will want to perform an unnecessary physical and tests. Without proof, how can we convince them that she only needs the vaccines? She was given a Vaccination Documentation Worksheet, is that enough?
    2. The vaccines at the civil surgeon's office are overpriced, and the local public health department offers them at a cheaper price. Is it possible to have them done there, bring the documentation to the civil surgeon, and just have the doctor sign off on the vaccine form?
    3. According to the website (http://www.uscis.gov/news/questions-and-answers/vaccination-requirements), it looks like the required vaccines include measles, mumps, rubella, polio, tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis, Hep B, HiB and seasonal flu. It also requires "Any other vaccine-preventable diseases recommended by the Advisory Committee for Immunization Practices." What does this mean?

I would appreciate any information on any of these questions, thank you all in advance.

  2. Hi everyone, I will be applying for a K1 visa soon and had questions about what happens after the wedding. My fiancee and I both have strict schedules and wanted to have a quick USA court wedding and a wedding in the Philippines soon after. The problem is getting back to the Philippines after the USA wedding. I understand we have to apply for the Green Card right after the wedding, and that she won't be able to travel while it is processing. I also know that in order to travel while the Green Card is processing, we need to apply for Advance Parole.

What confuses me is that I read that Advance Parole is only granted for work, school, humanitarian purposes, and emergencies. Is it true that we would be denied if the reason we provided was to have a formal wedding in the Philippines?
