Hi Everyone,
My wife arrived in the US on a K1 visa. We were married and went through the AOS and she now has her green card.
She is in the process of being hired for a work position, and on one of the forms it asks whether she is a "lawful permanent resident" or an "alien authorized to work until..." with a space for the date.
I believe her green card says "permanent resident" at the top, but don't have it in front of me as I am at work. I know that the green card must be renewed in 2 years from the date it was issued, which is what is making it difficult for me to know which box to check for her.
Does anyone happen to know which one she would be considered?
Thank you in advance!!

with a new green card in hand,
she can do anything not requiring a secret or higher government/military clearance.
so - it's a huge vista for her, for what she can do.
you guys not chase EAD card? what's up ?
Hi there, yes we did get her EAD card, and then her green card about 1.5 months later. The market is just difficult right now for work, at least from what we've seen. Thanks for your reply

The limitation on an LPR is for jobs reserved for US citizen; police, national security, etc.
Great thanks for your answers. I agree, the compensated volunteer does seem oxymoronic, however that was one of the positions she was looking into so I wanted to include it in my questions.

Hello there
My wife arrived on a K1 visa last summer. We were married, filed for adjustment of status, and then we were approved. She received her green card in december, and has been looking for work since this time, with limited success.
One question I have (that I cannot find an answer to anywhere!) is if there are restrictions on the type of work she can do. She remembers reading somewhere that she cannot own her own business. Is this true?
Can she be a freelance or independent contractor?
Can she be a volunteer who receives compensation?
She has been giving language lessons through a couple sites for the last couple months-- we assume this is okay as it is through a business..
Thanks in advance for any insight you might have!

My wife (a K1 filer) didn't do it- we sent the DS-3025 with our i-485 filing and received no RFEs. Just had our interview today for aos (passed!) and the officer didn't even bring up the medical.

Hello everyone,
My fiancée arrived here in California from France on a K1 issued mid-June of this year. She had her medical exam done from the Embassy approved doctor in Paris. Now that we are married, we are filing for her adjustment of status, and I've scoured visa journey looking for advice concerning her I-693 form. I understand that she doesn't need another medical exam done, rather she needs her DS-3025 (vaccination list) transcribed to the I-693 by a Civil Surgeon. I've called about 20 so far in the Southern California area, but so far none who will do this. Every Civil Surgeon's office I spoke to said that they required another medical exam to be done.
Long story short- has anyone on here had any success with a Civil Surgeon doing this in the Southern California region? I would be greatly appreciative of any recommendations of a civil surgeon who do this transcription.
Thank you in advance, and good luck everybody!

Just received the following email:
Application Type: I129F , PETITION FOR FIANCE(E)
Your Case Status: Post Decision Activity
On March 10, 2014, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E). Please follow any instructions on the notice.YES!! Exactly 2 months from the date I received NOA1. This petition was approved at the California center, and it is for my fiancée who is French. Hopefully everyone else from January receives news soon too. I was beginning to think something was wrong with my file, so relieved things are moving forward finally!
Good luck everyone

We sent our I-129F on January 4 for my fiancée in France and received our NOA1 on January 10th. On January 14th, the website said that an alien registration number was changed, but nothing has changed since that date. Our file is being processed at the California center. Reading all of your posts makes me feel like my file is taking longer. Any other January filers still waiting for the NOA2 decision?

Hello there,
My fiancée and I are filling out our G-325a forms, and there are several issues which she is coming across that I am hoping someone here can help us with.
She doesn't know what to put under "province" for where she currently lives in France. Does she put the department (Herault), the region (Languedoc-Rousillon), or nothing?
In France, she legally has no father (and so has no info since he is not in her or her mother's life for my fiancée's entire life) . Should she leave it blank where it asks for the father's first/last name, dob, and city?
For the list of previous addresses for 5 years, there is not enough blanks to list for the address- what should we do here?
Also, it appears that there isn't enough room in the cells to write her info and still have it appear when we print out the form. Is this normal? Is there a way to have everything written show on the printed form?
And lastly, she did do some university study for 4 months in the US (south carolina) in 2009. Would she have to include her residency there to the list of addresses? It was part of a program done with a French university she attended at the time.
If anyone has any insight to even one of these questions, we would greatly appreciate it!!
Thank you
Dave

Hi Everybody,
My fiancée is French, and we are looking at filing our I-129F petition very soon (by the end of this month/early January) and I have a few questions:
1) Do you happen to know the average processing time (meaning the how long it will take before she receives the K1 Visa and can come here to California) ? I've seen sites showing around 5-6 months, just wondering if it depends on what country she comes from as well as what state I am in.
I'm asking this because she is currently negotiating a contract with her work, and doesn't want to sign for too long, but she also doesn't want to sign for 3 more months and then find out she will have to wait an additional 6-9 months before she receives her K1visa.
2) Just to be sure: when I send in the I-129F, do I need to include my fiancée's original signed letter of intent? Can it be a copy? I have the same question regarding the G-325A document...
Thanks for your time- I'm sure everyone here receives these same questions over and over, but I know that we are all here linked together with the same goal of being united with someone we love
Thanks for any help and insight.
Dave
