  1. What issues for the IR-1/CR-1 or K-1 visas, exactly? I saw what you wrote about MENA and Canada, but that is Canada. El Salvador is not MENA. OP has citizenship and a birth certificate from Sweden. Do you know for a fact that European beneficiaries with family in El Salvador go through AP often? I think you're scaring the OP--whom the U.S. gov't will see could legally stay in one of the best countries in the world in terms of quality of life for the rest of his/her life--for no reason. OP needs to focus on evidence of a bonafide relationship, period.

i hope you right but i'm going to prepare myself for the worst to

  2. thank for all the answers, i have decided to move to ES but just for 1 year like that my boyfriend/fiance (not offical) can visit me more often he is not allowed to travel overseas due to work. i will do the cr1 or k1 in sweden and i hope my parents not being swedish my birth ain't gonna cause problem. And yes i was born in sweden so i hope i don't have any difficulties with the cr1/ k1 what ever i decide to do

  3. If you are the USC - petitioner - you would be better off staying in the US while your fiance/e or wife waits for her process in Sweden. In order to bring a fiance/e or immediate family to the US you will need to establish residence in the US, so it would be counter productive and counter intuitive that you should leave the country as you go through the process of bringing a foreigner to live here.

If you are the beneficiary - SE/HN citizen - you would be better off staying in Sweden as well, for most of the documentation the US consulate will ask of you will relate to your life in Sweden. You can always move to Honduras but you will be required to product a lot of documents, including a police record, of your time in Sweden.

It is ultimately your choice but I would believe it will be easier to stay the course and stay put in Sweden until you get your visa to the US.

    Good luck

    thank you for the info

  4. If you are the USC - petitioner - you would be better off staying in the US while your fiance/e or wife waits for her process in Sweden. i'm the beneficiary and living in sweden but i want to move i don't know if that's a good idea

  5. So i have double nationality i lived most of my life here in sweden i was born here in sweden so i am a swedish citizen what has happened is that most of my family moved back to my homeland el salvador and the other part to honduras. i feel really lonely here having all of my family over there mom dad my sister and i am thinking about moving to. i don't want to be alone here.

My question is can i start my cr1 or k1 from over there? what do i need to bring from sweden. im also worried that el salvador is a high fraud country is it more wise of me to stay here during the process i feel so drained being away from family i don't feel good at all i cry everyday but at the same time i think that is better to stay here to start the prosses since sweden is not a high fraud country. any ides? someone thats has been through the same what do you all think ? :sleepy:i really need some advice, thank u and sorry for my english :P

    I am the beneficiary

  6. Let's put it this way: You don't know you have an eating disorder. You think you might possibly have one, but unless someone with the proper medical license and medical expertise says you do, then from a legal standpoint you really have no way of knowing that you do.

If some doctor asks you specific questions about ED conduct, I would not lie to him since catching you on a lie can be big trouble, but if you are just asked the larger question of whether you have any such disorders, you can safely say no. Until a doctor says you do, as far as you know you really don't.

Le's put it another way: Suppose I have chronic headaches, a symptom of high blood pressure. But no doctor or nurse ever checked my blood pressure. I therefore do not know that I have high blood pressure and can safely say no.

yes u are right but i told cbp but maybe that has nothing to do with the medical exam???? hmm

  7. You self diagnosed and never saw a dr for it, why mention it? What would you tell a doctor now? "I believe I an ED but I am better now, can you write a letter saying I am ok".. If you self diagnosed, self treated and are good now, I would keep, that to myself IMO.

thanx im thinking about not saying to, but cbp knows or does that matter? but as u said it self diagnosed

  8. Ah, I see. Well either way, an eating disorder won't be an issue. You could try your luck and just go to the medical, or you could request an evaluation from a psychiatrist. You could also try calling the doctor to ask what they'll want to see for the medical.

hmm don't you think they can denie me at poe if i don't mention the ed at the medical ? or does cbp not ask about or pull out the record on previous visits? last time i was there they question me but not about the ed so i don't know if i should just not mention it at the medical since i was never diagnosed. i worry to much

someone that knows what cbp look at when u arrive with a k1? to they go through ur medical answers and so? do they watch the tape of your secondary screening since its recorded i mean i don't know hehe maybe my fantasi is to wild lol i just want to be over prepared and have no surprises

  9. You could contact a psychiatrist privately, but seriously, I just wouldn't mention it. You were never diagnosed. No diagnosis, no history of illness. Why complicate things for yourself?

the thing is that cbp knows when u travel with an esta from a vwp country u answer a few questions i answered yes in one cause at the time i was suffering from it cbp askt me and knows. dont that come up at the k1 interview about cbp and about being sent to secondary screening? or am i too paranoid now ?

and yes i was allowd entry.

  10. I don't know if the medical exams are conducted super thoroughly in Sweden, but it takes a REALLY good doctor to catch any evidence from an ED, and they'd really have to look. You can't just look at a person during a routine physical and come to the conclusion that the person has an ED. You could go to a psychiatrist and get their opinion if it makes you feel better. Do you know what tests they do for the Swedish medical?

Edit: You should definitely seek the advice of a psychiatrist if you feel that you are currently suffering from an ED.

i been good for almost 2 years now so im not suffering from it. hmm maybe a psychiatrist but just for the note then because im good now so i dont know really how that would help but thanx

and no i don't know what tests the medical does in sweden

  11. Were you diagnosed, but never got treatment, or never diagnosed and never sought a diagnosis/treatment? It's only worth mentioning if you got an official diagnosis from a psychiatrist.

i was never diagnosed or got any treatment. The only sign i have left from my eating disorder are my teeth my dentist actually though i just drank too much soda and i dont think it affected any other part of my body,But if it has and i don't mention it would they not see it in the physical exam? thats why i want to have the note from a psychiatrist

  12. You've never been officially diagnosed, right? Iono, don't think I'd volunteer self-diagnosed things. If you're set on answering yes, I recommend getting an evaluation done at a psychologist or a psychiatrist. You might even be able to get it for free, if you talk to your family doctor first. Good luck!

i was never diagnosed by anyone i know i had an eating disorder tho but i never looked for help i got through it with help from friends and family. we dont have a family doctor. is it any other way to get the note ?

  13. so about more then a year ago i sufferd from a eating disorder i been good for 1 year going to be 2 years anyway, i had the eating disorder for about 1 year and i never got any treatment for it. my question is on the medical exam i want to be honest.eating disorder count as mental illness right?

so i should but yes on that question. i'm worried this will get my visa denied.i read here on VJ that u need a letter/note from a psychologist saying In my case that i'm not threat to myself. i wonder i never got any treatment so how do i get this note?can i get this note? anyone that has been through the same not gotten any treatment for some mental illness and being able to get a note anyway ? so worried this will get my k1 denied :crying:

  14. I think at the medical they will ask you something along the lines of "Do you have any history of mental health problems?"

At the medical, the doctor will not have access to the answers you gave at the border. The only way they will know that you had an eating disorder is if you tell them. I would not tell the doctor if they do not ask.

I have never had a border agent ask me medical questions when crossing. Again, if they do not ask, do not offer up information.

If they explicitly ask "Do you have an eating disorder?" just be honest. Say "I had an eating disorder for ___________ (however long you had it), but I was able to overcome it."

I don't think you should worry about it. They let you into the country the first time, so obviously an eating disorder is not enough to make them turn you away. You will be absolutely fine. :D :D :D

    This is just my advice.

yes you are right i don't know if i'm just being paranoid about cbp. hmm i guess have to wait and se when it comes to the medical exam i will have a note prepared just in case.

good luck in your journey. and if you want to let me know how the medical went and if u had to mention the ed lol. i wish u the best :D

  15. I am worried about this too. I don't know if they will specifically ask about an eating disorder, but I know they will ask about mental health issues at the medical. My plan is to just be honest if it comes up. I am also planning on bringing a note from my doctor explaining that my depression (which went hand in hand with the ED) has been treated.

I don't think your past border crossings will come up in the interview at all other than to ask about your visits to the petitioner.

From what I have read here, a history of psychological issues don't pose a problem, unless they are along the lines of uncontrolled schizophrenia or episodes of violent psychosis.

My suggestion to you is to answer their questions honestly. Only answer what they ask. Don't offer up information beyond their questions.

Congratulations on beating your eating disorder. I know how hard it can be. :D

Hi thank you for replying i'm so worried that my k1 will be approved and that it will be turned down at poe because of the past history record about my ed. About the papers if you are not longer suffering from it do you still answer yes?

i don't know if the papers bring up eating disorders if they don't should i still inform them about it since cbp knows? and about the note i never got any treatment i beat my ed on my own now can i still get a note that i no longer suffer from it? im sorry for all the questions, and than you for sharing :)

  16. i wonder if a previously eating disorder which i no longer suffer from i been good for 1 year now, can this affect my k1? i mean if everything goes good at the medical exam?

also one thing i told cbp about it because first time i ever traveled i still sufferd from it back then so they know they still let me trough and did not deny me entry. Do they have this on their record this was 2012

they question me if i was trying to work there i said no and they let me pass. i don't remember how the eating disorder part come up but i told them is it in their system now? i know they record what u tell them will this be brough up at the k1 interview?

also least time i was there cbp they did question my BUT not about the eating disorder

also i never had any treatment for the disorder i got through it by myself never hospitalised or anything like that

    so worried
  17. You wasn't tortured, I very much doubt that border control have got so bad that they're waterboarding people or breaking out the thumbscrews.

You was questioned for a valid reason. You had overstayed on VWP so were therefore inadmissible under that category.

You had taken a short trip to a neighbouring country and tried re-entering. The US government got wise to that trick long ago and look out for it.

You were probably treated exactly the same as anyone else would have been trying to enter without a correct visa.

It probably was very traumatic for you, and doubly for your son, but far from being tortured.

what if u first travel lets say to honduras and stay there for 3 months and then back to europe and after that to the usa is this overstaying ?or is it just traveling from us to mexico and canada and then back to usa.
i have family in honduras. i was born in sweden but my roots are over there. those that mean i cant visit im getting confused??
  18. I have been getting denied before..... Horrible experience...... Was getting asked 4h questions after 10h flight and couldn't see my (at that time) still boyfriend at all... Same situation like OP, didn't overstayed and wanted to go back to him to see him after a to short time and Germany (and I didn't had a job in Germany :-/) I wanted to stay for another 2 months :-/ we didn't do enough research about how long you have to stay outside the country at least :C,.... I travelled to him from march 25th until june 16th, 2013 (didn't overstayed) and wanted to go back in the end of june 2013 to him....like I saied we were not even allowed to see us at the airport, I was getting denied and they told us i could only come back with a visa.....

Applying for a K1 Visa right now since august 12, 2013 (with a good immigration attorney; because of even this bad experience in POE), we got our NOA2 on February 14th, 2014! Still in Process... Interview hopefully soon.

Please be careful with going back again.... I can really only say, that even when I have my Visa I'm f#### scared to pass the officer in POE again,.... Another reson why my fiance is going to be with me when we fly to america.

i'm so sorry to hear that, me i been out of the states for a year around the time i pick to travel is it okey or do i have to wait more then a year? good luck on your jorney i wish u the best

  19. It does rather assume a level of stupidity on behalf of the PoE that even I would have a hard time justifying.

Your BF can not visit because of work, that is normal, well for long visits anyway, so what is your situation that does allow you to do so, obviously not a student judging by the dates.

okay i think it has been a misunderstanding. last time i went to the states i was there 1 month next time i travel its gonna be a year from my first visit and in only staying 1 or 2 week. i have not been there 3 months and im not going to stay 3 months this time idk where the confusion came from. sorry english is not my native language.

that means i be traveling once a year with 1 or 2 weeks stay the longest 1 month. are u asking me how i can afford this ? is this not normal for me traveling once a year seems normal? sleepy.gif

  20. don't be offensive to each othersleepy.gif im just going to say the true. and answer what i been asked. i'm going to tell them im seeing my boyfriend if asked or if they ask whose address i'm staying at becaue that is the true i don't wanna be stupid and be cought for miss representation and after that have issues with my cr1 or k1 not decided yet. i rather be sent home for being honest then let in and later have that affect me and my bf in a negative way. more worried that they are going to ask me about previous stay.since i changed address after the first night, from the first i gave them. but i heard they only want the address for the first night anyway i dont know im just gonna have to explain and say the true, thanks for all the info

  21. If you try to be clever, you will be sent home....tell the truth...those who have been admitted even when logic says something is out of whack ( who gets 6 months of vacation in a year??)...were lucky...you might not be...so....don't try to evade questions with silly answers.....and don't arrive with 5 suitcases and your resumes, or you will be turned around (denied admission) in seconds...

it's not gonna be 6 months. i stayed 1 month and when i go its gonna be a year from when i first went and i'm only staying 1 or 2 weeks this time. thank u for the info

  22. Just simply explain that you were visiting "friends" during your last visit (this is the truth), and if they ask the purpose of this upcoming visit just say again "visiting friends".

Only answer directly to what they have asked you. Don't disclose you are visiting a boyfriend unless they specifically ask " are you visiting a boyfriend?". If they do specifically ask this, you do have to answer truthfully.

It is incredibly scary. I will never forget queuing up and going through immigration checks at the airport. I would sweat, my heart would be pounding, my knees like jelly. All I wanted was to get through, get my connection fight and be with my man LOL!!!! I wish you lots of luck and I hope everything goes just fine for you.

but relatives are family? sorry english is not my first language. so i should say family right for my previous visit? yes i know my trip i moths away and i'm already nervous. thank u for the info i will not forget it.

  23. On my second and third visit I was asked what I did during my previous visit and why I had come back. You must answer truthfully and honestly. Every answer given is documented. You don't want any lies of misinformation to come and bite you in the butt later down the line.....

yes i will answer truthfully. i just hope i don't confuse cbp. since last time i was there i gave them an address in wich i stayed the first night later i decided i wanted to stay with with orher relatives i (have most of my relativs in the us) same state same town just diffrent apartments ( they had more room for me) ooh -.- i even confuse my self. I think bringing their phone numbers will be good so things can get sorted out if needed

  24. My apologies if you feel you was being picked on.

But I'm sure there are people in countries less civilised than yours and mine that would dispute that spending a few hours uncomfortable and uncertain of what is going to happen can be called torture. Torture would be having someone beating you or threatening your life.

What you fail to realise is that you didn't follow the rules. The VWP is for temporary visits only, not to live in the US. And taking short visits to neighbouring countries doesn't reset the time.

It was unfortunate what happened to you but that is the consequences of your actions.

And that comes from someone who received a ten year ban for overstaying the VWP. I've served the ban but there's a chance I will never be able to visit the US again due to my actions. As much as I hate it I accept that it was my own fault, ignorance of the rules isn't an excuse. I didn't realise how serious my mistake was, but the US takes immigration a lot more seriously than European countries.

You think you was tortured? I haven't seen my children in 6 1/2 years as they're in the States and my ex wont bring them to the UK. My little girl had her 10th birthday on Monday, she was 3 last time I saw her.

I hope you have better luck than I did when you apply for your B2.

how long did u overstay?. i'm truly sorry to hear that, that must be torturecrying.gif i will pray for you and i hope everything solves.
