  1. Failure to Pay

USCIS will not send you a Green Card until we receive your $165 Immigrant Fee payment. If you fail to pay your fee, USCIS will send you a notice requesting payment.

If you do not pay the fee within the time listed in the notice, you will not receive your Green Card. However, failure to pay the USCIS Immigrant Fee will not affect your status as a lawful permanent resident.

From the above info posted at US Consulate,New Delhi, it seems you do get time to pay Immigrant Fee even when the applicant is admitted to US without paying the fee.

  2. Hi,

I am Italian and I lived in Austria for 8 months when I was 23. I did not change my permanent address during that period of time, so I ketp my Italian address as the permanent one.

Anyway, I do not know if at the interview I will have to provide also an Austrian Police Record that states that I did not commit any crime or if I need to take only the Italian Police Record (Certificato Giudiziario) at the interview.

The American government website does not help that much in this regard, but here is the link:

    http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/fees/reciprocity-by-country/IT.htm

    Thank you for your help!

Here is what it states on:http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/submit/documents-to-submit-to-nvc.html

An applicant must obtain a police certificate from the local police authority:

    IF you…

    AND…

have been living in your country of nationality at their current residence for more than 6 months

you are 16 years old or older

lived in a different part of your country of nationality for more than 6 months

you were 16 years or older at that time

lived in a different country for more than 12 months

you were 16 years or older at that time

    were arrested for any reason

you were any age at the time of the arrest

  3. Hello,

I 130 was filed with NVC - priority date January 14th 2014. Have made several calls to USCIS. Finally got an answer saying its been delayed due to back ground check from FBI.

We had similar situation last year. It took 10 months to get the approval. If your file is transfered to local Office, get Info pass and when you visit the local USCIS office try to set up an appointment with Immigration Officer.

  4. Hi ! everyone waiting for interviews in November 2014 for IR1/CR1 visa

Has anybody been scheduled for November 2014 yet.

Usually they will put up a list for November 2014 interviews at the web sites of respective embassies and consulates where the spouse's interview will be held by October 15th

If you prefer calling NVC, I think by October 2 or 3 we should start getting the interview dates.

Please share your date of interview once you get to know the schedule date for November 2014 for IR1/CR1 visa.

Congratulations to TeaCup and silverjetplane on their Case complete today 10/20/2014 !

  5. I was doing some research about the immigration process, and I never saw this on the official USCIS website, but I found all these sample questions for a 'fraud interview'. Like they would ask you both the same questions, personal things like your spouse's favorite food, and whatnot, and try to catch you guys in a lie. Is this real? I thought the interview, just the immigrant spouse had to go to at the embassy, and I didn't think it was exactly about that. I thought the validity of your relationship depended on the physical proofs you send?

May be what you read was the interview for CR-1 ( conditional visa for couple married less than 2 years ). After two years they both are interviewed in their local USCIS office to confirm the green card. If your marriage is genuine and you are living together then it should not be difficult to answer those questions and provide proofs like joint bank accounts, name on insurance polices ets.

  6. The NVC has asked us for a police certificate from the state that we live in (São Paulo), which we have, and also ANOTHER copy of the biographical information from her passport (Which we already sent, but we're gonna send it again anyways).

Now, we are going to FedEx to them both things, however, we are also going to take a picture of the Police Certificate on the computer (as we can get the certificate online), and also take a picture of the biographical information from her passport.

Is this acceptable? Obviously, we are going to do it both ways (e-mailing and sending the hard original copies through the mail), but seeing as they offer the option of using e-mail, we suspect it would give us the possibility of going a little quicker as they would receieve the e-mail today.

So does this all sound alright? No problems e-mailing pictures of the aforementioned documents they asked for (Again, we're sending the original hard copies in the mail in case they don't accept those we send through the e-mail). We only ask because maybe they won't accept because they're just pictures of the said documents?

Anyways, we're sending it all today!

Any and all feedback is welcome, thanks everybody!

    Hi jworld34

Its good that you are sending original hard copy of the Police Certificate by mail. They accept email documents only from certain counteries. Not all have that option. They require original document and a copy of it.

  7. Hi VJ members I'd rcvd another checklist regarding passport police certificate. I'd already sent police certificate for my hubby which he had obtained from local police station. Now per the checklist do I really need to send another one from the passport office? I was now waiting to receive an email for case complete but rather rcvd this checklist email. Pls help. Ver upset. I can't afford another 60 days now. Just feel like leave everything and go back to my hubby. All your help will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi hargur2014 !

I am from india too. The only PCC they need is from Regional Passport Office without which they will not even let him in consulate for Interview. So tell him to go to local suveda center with passport and id's. He will be able to get it with in a week or two. If his passport is issued less than a year, he does'nt need police verification and will be able to collect it in two hours. He needs to fill in a application which you can fill it online, upload and your spouse can print it and take it with him.

  10. Hi James I checked the link and it said THE SELECT CASE # AND INVOICE IDENTIFICATION # COMBINATION DOES NOT MATCH OUR RECORD what does that mean is it something wrong??

    Hi !

    The site is : https://ceac.state.gov/IV/Login.aspx

First input is case number like mine is NWD6XXXXX

    Then invoice number.

When you call NVC they give you:

    1. Case Number : NWD6XXXXX

    2. IIN Number : Its Invoice Number

    3. Beneficiary Number

After the first input that is your case number , then you put in Invoice Number not the beneficiary number.

then you can select Applicant or Petitioner

    That should work

In our case it looked like

    Choice of Address & Agent ( DS-261)

    Petitiner Name Completed

Affidavit Of Support ( AOS )

Petitioner Name Fee Paid Documents N/A ( Documents N/A doesn't matter even we send them its for their future use )

    Applicant Information

Applicant Name Fee Paid IV Application Completed Documents N/A ( Documents N/A doesn't matter even we send them its for their future use )

Its here that when AOS fee changes to N/A that's indicator to case complete.

Hi Shama ! even while you are waiting for case complete and interview date... In google or any other search engine type in

immmigrant visa interview at ...... ( .... spouse's embassy where interview is going to be held )

In google I clicked on the first link and came to know about useful information you need to prepare before going for interview. Which they send you after a week or two of Interview schedule.

  11. Congratulations I am soooo happy for you James please share when you get interview notification!!!!!!

Thanks. I will keep this updating and sharing our experiance.

Keep visiting this page as often as you have time https://ceac.state.gov/IV/Login.aspx

You login using your Case number which has three letters ( embassy of beneficiary ) and 10 digits.

Then you enter your IIN and select what capacity you are. There if you see AOS Fee turning N/A from paid...its almost means your case is complete and call NVC to confirm it. I think its taking NVC 4-6 days to get you an interview date.

  14. Hi, James our packet 3 was sent on August 26,2014 and got 30 days period notice before they review every single step is taking too long !!!!!!

Congrats! I have been following your case. It also took too long to get approved to NOA2. If you have a lawyer handling your case you will be able to pay AOS and IV fee together at the same time and also send the documents. That will save time. If you don't have a lawyer and you want the petitioner to be your agent then fill the online DS-261 as soon as you have the IIN numbers which you get by calling and calling NVC and pay the online AOS fee. There is link by Saylin to help filling I-864 and compiling AOS package. Be sure to avoid Checklists otherwise you are back in line

Hello, when checking my case status I get this message

    "Post Decision Activity

On June 20, 2014, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN. Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283."

We mailed off the i130 at the end of May, we received the first notice that they have our info, but we are still waiting on the noticed that the petition is approved. I'm guessing from the status update that should arrive any day.

What are our next steps exactly? Do I act next or will they contact me?

    Thanks
