From now on you only need the stamped passport. Actually if you are flying domestic and not close to the boarder you only need your ID

The type of ID for flying domestic is tied to the REAL ID Act. The problem is that DL's are issued by the states, and not the federal government. About half of all states comply with this Act for issuing and producing licenses, and the other half have extensions in place. It depends on which state issued the ID, not where you are flying to/from. American Samoa is the only non-compliant/extension state/territory right now.

However, I fly internationally more often than domestic, and I've found that countries which do not see as many traveler's to the US are often unfamiliar with the documentation. Being so close, and presumably more familiar with the US documentation, Mexico and Canada have not been an issue. However, each time I fly in from Australia the agent has to double check and repeatedly confer with their superior, because they are simply unfamiliar with the documents. Even if it is expired, and not necessary, it can be useful.

    Hey everyone!

Thanks to everyone that gave me tips on getting  an Infopass Appt scheduled! Helped a lot! I had my appt this morning took way longer than expected I don’t think the officer knew what she was doing.

But anyway I got my stamp and I kept my letter and greencard. I asked her if she knew of a timeframe and her response was “they will let you know when you need to come in for an interview”.

My thing is how does she know that I will even need an interview? Is this something that they are requiring now for all I-751?

    What are your thoughts guys?

Hi! I had my Infopass on Friday. I too received both my GC and NOA back, which I know you don't need, but are helpful in convincing foreign airport employees unfamiliar with US immigration that you are allowed onto the plane :)

The officer I spoke with confirmed that the CSC is still on September of 2016, and that the average wait time is 18 months. He did not mention anything about an interview, and just (jokingly) implied he'd see me in a year if I'm still waiting.

Does it matter what center I go to?? I live in Dallas but they have no available appointments

I have two centres to chose from - one near(ish) my work, and another that is the official one for my home zip code (different county). When selecting a location the website requests your home zip, and stated that if I don’t reside in that county, I might not be assisted. So I picked the one near my house, despite being the opposite direction from where I work.

My boss has gone through the same process (although he is the citizen) so thankfully he’s quite understanding.

I’d check first thing in the morning (I’m up at 5:30) because I saw zero appointments the night before, but a whole list of appointments first thing the following day.

Oh wow, I really feel they should put an expiration date on the NOA. Like just spell it out: status expires xx/xx/xxxx. That would make things so much easier. I have extended my drivers license with the NOA letter and the DMV considered it to be one year from the date of the letter, and not one year from the expiration of the green card. When I went for the stamp, they were nice though and just gave me the stamp on October 31st. My NOA was dated November 30th.

It would make things easier. Maybe I'll just go to my infopass appointment next week and see what happens - given that I know I'll be travelling, I'm trying to eliminate any chance of being detained for 3+ hours after a 16hr flight. On the plus side, my DMV gave me a five year licence (I wasn't going to correct them), so as long as this is sorted by mid 2019 that shouldn't be an issue lol.

Hey I sent my application at the end of November 2016 they received at CSC on Dec/13.... got my NOA and Biometics done...case status still says "fees were waived"

Wondering if anyone has gotten approvals from the CSC?? Ive seen a few from vermont..

According to the USCIS site as of sept 30th we were still on August 2016 .. :(

    A little concerned..job wise..

Perhaps we can work on filling out the table that we used at the start of the year with our filing/NOA/Bio dates? We'd have to hunt down the final version....I think @jeffkadrliktorr was updating the table most of the time? Mar 11 might be the last one?

Haven't been on here in a while, thought I'd provide an update.

After being told by USCIS 1-800 earlier in the year that my 1 year extension letter expired in Dec 2017 (the one year anniversary of my 2 yr conditional residency) I was told to make an infopass appointment to get my passport stamped.
I called USCIS 1-800 again in September 2017 to confirm what I needed to do, and was then told that my extension letter actually expired ONE YEAR FROM DATE OF ISSUE, not 1 year from original residency. This meant my extension expired in October!
Mad panic to get infopass appointment at the Detroit field office (a four hour drive from home) to make sure I could get my stamp.

Booked appointment, drove out the night before and got a hotel room. Arrived at heavy security mad house Detroit field office early, but also got called to a desk nearly 45 minutes before scheduled appointment time, so that was ok. Very nice officer then told me I was a month too early to get my passport stamped as my extension letter expired in DECEMBER! Argh!
The officer, when finding out how far we had come and that we had incurred the expense of a hotel, agreed to stamp my passport early - I now have an extension to October 2018.

Lessons learned from this: Never trust the info you are given by the 1-800 number - call more than once with the same question to see what answers you get!
Also, the officer told me that the USCIS Processing time website is not accurate - I mentioned that the I-751 date of files worked on showed July, but he felt it in reality it was more like April or May 2016. He DID say he was confident I would get my 10 year green card before October 2018, but that if I did not, I just had to make another Infopass appointment and get another stamp.

Anyway, that's my long winded story - good luck to all!
    :D

So, based on this, there's no point making an Infopass until the month before the anniversary of the conditional green card expiration date? For most December filers I'm assuming we filed as soon as possible and our anniversary is in March, so Infopass in February. My NOA says "Your conditional residential status is extended for a period of one year." Has anyone heard of issues when travelling after the one year anniversary of the NOA receipt date (Dec 20 for me), but before you can get your passport stamped (Feb 9)? Which is exactly when I'm travelling of course...

  6. I've noticed some people on here that got a case update saying USPS had picked up their Green Card, I've still not got this yet, does everyone get this??

I don't know about everyone, but as you can see in my signature, it was more than a week from approval to actually being mailed. I don't know about texts (being out of the country I never received them), but I did get emails for every new change on the USCIS website. You were a week behind me, so hopefully by Friday :)

On a different note - did everyone get a driver's licence that expired with their EAD? I was sure I was supposed to renew it now that I have the GC, but since I have a five year licence (?), I wouldn't want them to shorten it to match my GC.

  7. Going on 2 hours now... the first idiot CBP officer came up to me to ask me what I was waiting for. His idiotic response was, "why don't you leave and come back for her later?" To which I responded, "would you leave your wife behind?" he laughed and said, "you're not leaving her forever" and I said, "I'm not leaving my wife!" He just slowly walked away.

Is she through yet? I was stuck in LAX for 2.5 hrs waiting to be officially paroled - and I had a green card approved and waiting for me just miles from the airport. If they can't find my green card in the system, I hope they at least found her parole!

  8. So, after reading and commenting on this forum for about six months, I finally decided to officially follow it today. And the amount of email updates are driving me bonkers.

Does everyone else just deal with the insane number of emails? Or am I just failing I find the setting to turn them off? I've tried fiddling with the notification settings but the emails just keep coming...

Maybe I should have followed a quieter thread first. Perhaps a thread for people receiving green cards...

  9. Is anyone leary, at this stage that some of us are in, to go on a vacation? We were planning on traveling at the end of March to go see my oldest daughter. But, we postponed it until June because I was nervous we would miss an appt and/or a time sensitive document (RFE). Then sure enough we received a bio appt for March 23rd, we would have been half way across the country by then. But when we planned this trip we thought for sure the GC would have come by now. Keeps your life on hold. How can you prove a relationship with pictures and such when you are confined to your home? huff

That is/was my problem. I booked this trip in May, thinking a year was plenty of time for a GC (rolls eyes).

Feb 23rd-27th I'm out of town, receive two NOA (EAD/AP), and a Vaccination request.

Feb 28th-Mar6th I'm in town, complete vaccinations, receive Biometrics for Mar 11th, and send both vaccinations and Bio reschedule.

Mar7th-21st I'm overseas, GC approved, produce and sent, but apparently zero physical correspondence.

For the previous 10 months I never left Los Angeles. Clearly the answer is to offer the temptation to the USCIS of not being there to collect your mail...

  10. But what I'm saying is:

March 16th - Card ordered for production

March 16th - Mailed you Welcome notice

March 18th - Card ordered for production

Maybe you're right and I'm just being paranoid, I don't think i'll be truly convinced till I have the card in my hand :)

If it helps, my USCIS emails/webpage says:

03/09: Registered permanent status and mailed Welcome notice

03/11: Ordered new card to be produced

    03/18: Mailed your new card

I'd say the first message was wrong, cos then your timing matches mine.

According to my snail mail checker, as of three hours ago I still had no mail from the USCIS. No welcome notice, not even a response to the biometrics reschedule (obviously now moot) that I overnighted on March 4th. Does get a little worrying. Also, so no sign of any tracking number for the card apparently in the mail...

    - I was almost ready for a rant last week when you (and others) kept mentioning all the text messages you were getting. Then remembered I'm not going to get them in Oz. Oops!

  11. Congratulations for your GC....I am from India, I am going to be a cricket fan by default :P

yeah, I will be watching India Vs Bangladesh on Thursday... I am surprised that how they are doing well because I didn't expect them to make in top 2 with the performances they have been giving before World Cup..

I assumed as much... ;) I'm very surprised by Bangladesh. Might have to support them, given the huge amount of Indian supporters I know will be at the match.

NO we haven't * grumble grumble.* It seems to have been lost somewhere in USICSland. We are just hoping right now the the GC comes before June 6th. Surely it will right?? right??? :sleepy:

Yup, I'm sure it will! You're my wedding/NPIW date buddy, can't be too far behind :D

  12. Anna&Adam ..Did you receive your card yet?

I don't know...according to the website/emails I was approved 03/09, and my card was in production 03/11. I'm still in Oz, so my sister-in-law occasionally checks the mail. Hoping she'll check today and let me know. Still no sign of any of the supposedly USCIS communication they promised to mail about the aforementioned developments (ie a Welcome Letter). Or maybe she just forgot to tell me?

Also, no mention of any tracking number, so I can't tell if its even in the mail. The website is still at "On March 11, 2015, we ordered your new card for Receipt Number MSC*******381, and will mail it to the address you gave us." So waiting rather impatiently. Saturday I'm coming back via LAX - maybe immigration there can tell me what's going on?

  13. I know it wouldn't be a surprise for you but when i enquired in Jan then they told me that it is in Pittsburgh, our local field office and even when i raised the SR, it ended with PIT but the reply came from Santa Ana, CA...Go figure!!

I am just hoping that one day i will get my GC....I am beyond anger and hope because USCIS can suck it out of you with ease!!!

I had the same thing, service request ending in LAC (I live in LA County), but the case was actually in Washington state. Go figure.

Btw, not sure if you're a cricket fan, but I'm going to watch India v Bangladesh on Thursday...you guys are doing really well this World Cup!

  14. Actually it doesn't say expired that was my interpretation since I know it did :) The letter says exactly this: "To complete processing of the Form I-485 for the above named beneficiary, please provide an updated Form I-693 (Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Report) to include updated immuniation report. Go to any of the physicians listed on the attached sheet to complete the Form I-693. Please provide the above requested documentation by the date listed above. Mail the completed Form I-693 to the mailing address listed above by June 3, 2015. Failure to provide the requested documentation by the listed date will result in denial of the application"

Now it got me thinking could this be just for one flu shot like Shell said!? If so I'm glad I saved the paperwork when I got mine a few months ago. I hope they don't need me to do all the x-rays and blood tests again...

Interesting. It's similar to mine, but worded a little different (something along the lines of 'complete page five of vaccinations'). I didn't initially need a flu shot (November 2013 was summer in Australia), but maybe someone didn't pay attention to that? Mine should have been only copying all the tick marks, but apparently I need Hep A and B again (why, I don't quite know), not any of the other more costly stuff.
