  1. My wife was approved for the I-485 with no interview! They are mailing instructions. Does anyone know what we will have to do next? Does the Greencard get sent automatically in the mail or will she have to go for an appointment to get it done?

    USCIS case status:

On November 13, 2015, we approved your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status, Receipt Number MSCXXXXXXXX. We will mail your approval notice. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

  2. On my wife's case status online it states "On August 3, 2015, we approved your Form I-131, Application For USCIS Travel Document. We will mail your approval notice. Please follow the instructions in the notice. " We never got a notice or travel document. Is there an actual document similar to the EAD that they issue? If anyone has gotten issued the I-131 can you explain what's supposed to happen ?

  3. Today my fiance had her interview at the Thai consulate. It lasted maybe 3 minutes. She was approved and told her visa would be sent via mail in one week. The feeling you have when this happens is really good! We been apart a long time so it seems our patience has paid off. This forum has been great and thanks to all who have shared their stories and information on VJ, it has definitely helped me for sure. All the stress and waiting takes its toll, but once you get that approval you forget about all that quickly and your whole outlook changes.

  4. Hello everyone,

I never wrote here but I have been following for months now.

I'm happily married to an U.S. Sailor who is (SADLY) gettin deployed very soon. Can't tell when because the date is classified and so is the destination and so is the ship :/

You can understand from here that we definitely CAN'T have official deployment orders. We filed an I-130 and USCIS received it January 28th.

Now the problem is: my husband asked his commander to write a letter for the expedite case and they are willing to help... BUT they need to know what to write, where to write it and every kind of thing they might need.

We understand expedite letters are very personal but can ANYONE help us and send a sample?

Easy....If he drafts up a letter on official letterhead stating that he is deploying and is requesting an expedite due to official military deployment he can get it signed by his OIC, deployment manager or Commander. I did 3 letters, all of them stated the same thing-that I was deploying, the dates included. If dates are classified simply state that so they dont send a Request for Info. I had my unit deployment manager, OIC, and the Installation Deployment Officer sign them. One letter should suffice I just did 3. Im not in the Navy but Im sure he has a deployment manager or Officer who can sign.A lot of people have the Commander sign but I did not.

  5. Looking at her posts history they kept checking the interview dates and were able to jump from April to January. That explains part of it. The rest can be explained by the fact that she's from the Philippines, and they've been expediting some of those cases (without being asked) after the Typhoon.

god bless em! Thats fast and im happy for them.....sounds like their follow ups paid off along with being from the PI...nice that USCIS is expediting those cases without any formal requests..., definitely nice to see a bureaucracy doing that. it sucks its so slow for most. but in the end most will be approved, from what i read these service centers are like any other office, work stacks and sits, some people move fast, sometimes easy cases are pushed through because it bumps stats up, and like every other place theres people that move slow or are unproductive. Theres no rhyme or reason to why cases move how they do...its random. Picture a box that sits on someones shelf for months and then a file randomly gets plucked and that person that filed the petitions life just changed. Theres a Q&A on VJ with an actual ex service center case worker who got on here because he was filing a K1 for his fiance, he talks about all this stuff...its pretty informative from an inside perspective. I'll have to find the link and post it but its on here somewhere just don't recall where.

  6. did anyone else send in an affidavit of support (I-134) with their original I-129F submission to USCIS? I thought it was required but after I sent the I-129F I noticed the K1 step by step guide here on VJ lists the I-134 as a form sent to fiance after NAO2 is received, also packet 3 that the consulate sends (available online) lists the I-134 as a form for the fiance to bring to the interview, so looks like I sent prematurely. Didn't cause any problems though, my NAO2 came through just fine. I'll probobly just do a new one and send to my fiance so the date is more recent. Just curious if anyone else did the same.

    Congratulationssssss~~

    Thanks!

  8. NA02 Email received. So now on to NVC. Next week I will call NVC to check up on it. NA02 came 1 week or so after my Expedite Request for Mil Deployment. I assume the expedite was approved since I only received the NA02 email. Hopefully it moves along, need to get this nipped in the bud before June when I deploy. Best of luck to everyone in 2014....I got lucky on this if I wasn't approved for expedite I'd surely be waiting who knows how long. I do feel this strange feeling like I cut in line at the supermarket or something though....so I apologize to the applicants with their K1 at the Texas Service Center.

  9. I don't think you choose where the petition gets sent to. Everyone sends the packet to a central Texas location, either the Dallas Lockbox or the Lewisville address, and from there it gets sent to either the Texas Service Center or the California Service Center (they used to use Vermont too, but it's currently not processing K1's).

Makes sense. I wondered where the California Service Center came into play since Texas is the only address listed to forward K1 petitions to on USCIS website. I suppose they notify you via NAO1 if its been forwarded to California or something. The service center my petition is being processed at is not listed anywhere when I go into my case status profile on USCIS website. I guess that means it didn't go to California (sigh).

  10. Unfortunately guys I think we were all very very spoiled by seeing a few early approvals. We should be more realistic here and expect a 5 month wait period.. It has already been a month since my NOA1 almost so that means only 4 more at the most))

The officer was right to ignore other peoples approvals)) it is just so hard to do so when people come here and spam the board with a million dancing smileys about their NOA2 approval))))))

We will all get there eventually, just hang on tight and enjoy the day!!

Very true.....the folks getting approved fast may have straight forward cases....who knows...no idea what a petition goes through to get the NAO2, but some petitions may be easier and faster than others, I wish I knew exactly what they did that causes the difference in timelines. Some people wait more than 5 months only to find they been approved after they gave up hope, others roll right thru fast...being able to see everyones progress gives us a false perception of what the reality truly is.

  11. I just called on ours. Our NOA1 was Nov 7. The agent said on the phone that our status was in initial processing and that I should wait to call back until 5 months after the NOA1 date. Ok, great. sad.png

yes 5 months is crazy....thats the standard timeframe but I think most move a lot sooner... give it till after the New year......call back again and see what they say...Unfortunately we dont have any control over these timelines....try not to worry and keep yourself prepared for the long haul...its a visa journey remember!

  12. question....alien numbers....i got the message it changed a while back...is this number shared by USCIS? I dont know my alien registration number and pretty sure they dont send us the actual alien number...i have the receipt number beginning with SRC...just makin sure im correct.

If anyone knows their alien number that filed in november can get me up to speed on where its at? Im pretty sure im ok but with the K1 of course you never know what your missing..lol

    thx yall!

  13. Seems a lot of California Service Center folks are getting moved along quite smoothly and efficiently. Kudos to those gov employees working to get these apps approved timely and congrats to the NA02 recipients. I called about my expedite request I sent in with the original petition-they didn't even crack it open and see the expedite request. Now the Expedite Request is in and should hear back in 5 days. Anticipating this from the TX Service Center: they wont even look inside my petition and see my supporting documents and all the info they need for the expedite request right there on the first few pages, just behind the cover page that says in big red letters "REQUEST EXPEDITE FOR MILITARY DEPLOYMENT."

Its OK, I have the docs already attached to an email ready to hit send-again....no worries...I just have to laugh at the predictability of a government agency and seemingly inept Texas Service Center that is getting blown out of the water by California by the way!

Lesson Learned...even when one follows directions to the tee....call and follow up!!Unless there's a check to cash they wont look at anything else until they are ready!! Happy Holidays!!!

  14. Wedding Ceremonies that are not legal do not count as being married as far as the law goes. The requirement for K1 is that you are not legally married, so if you were married in a ceremony and did not apply for a marriage license and did not have it legalized then you are eligible for a K1. Most countries have religious customs and social traditions that people adhere to, and they are well aware that these traditions exist at the consulate. Either way, if you are not legally married you are eligible for a K1 bottom line, regardless if you had a wedding ceremony. This denial was probobly due to other issues that did not give the officer a warm fuzzy. Unfortunately its all about convincing them without any suspicion or doubt. The human factor is in the equation so theres no way to know if anyones application is 100% airtight.

  15. I submitted my K1 with an expedite request due to military deployment....i put one letter from my UDM, one from my OIC and one from the Installation Deployment Officer along with a letter explaining the expedite request for deployment. I did not do a letter from my commander...is that an issue? I saw threads where folks got letters from there UDMs and did fine. Just curious if they will need one specifically from my Commander.

  16. Not sure but yes it sounds like its a reference number for your expedite case for tracking purposes....if you call or contact them in a letter definitely let them know your case was approved for expedite on the date they told you it was approved for expedite and give them the number they gave you.....as well as any other number/info you have so theres no confusion....but you should be good dont worry, it will move faster now.
