  1. Yesterday I got an email from USCIS notifying me that my address has been updated. (No, my address hasn’t changed. This notification appears to be a glitch in the USCIS system that happens when they’re getting close to approval date.)

Today I got a text message and email, notifying me that my I-130 has been APPROVED. Hallelujah. It’s wonderful and mind-numbing at the same time.

I’ve updated my timeline and the Google spreadsheet.

My receipt date was 4-29-2013, and my priority date was 5-1-2013.

I was transferred to NSC on 12-5-2013.

I was approved on day 63 after being transferred, and 282 days after I filed (approximately 9.3 months). No expedite, no RFE.

Congrats to everyone else who’s been approved - and for all of those who haven’t yet gotten approved, my heart goes out to you. Hang in there!

  3. @newonehere, thank you for your kind words. I think it must be overwhelming to work somewhere like USCIS, with not enough employees to get the work done quickly, and a never-ending pile of petitions with unhappy customers. That said, I'd like to think that I would be calm and understanding of those customers, and be more like the third Tier 2 officer that I got, rather than nasty and uncaring to customers.

@anuspras, thank you for your encouraging report. I appreciate the information and the optimism, from you and others who've shared.

Congratulations to all of those who've been approved. Hang in there with the NVC - you're on the downhill stretch now.

  4. Your 2 months is up did you get the approval?

It really sucks that they cannot keep their word. Why do they even say 2 months in that case.

They could have said say we approve at our will without any logic order or reason.

No, I still have not been approved. On day 57 since my transfer, I called their “Customer Service” number and spoke to a Tier 2 officer, who said that my petition has been assigned to an adjudicator and that now the timing is just dependent on the workload of that adjudicator.

It was really frustrating to get to a Tier 2 officer who would help. The Tier 1 rep gave me the canned speech to tell me that my petition has been transferred and that it’s within normal processing time according to their current timelines, etc etc. I listened politely, then she listened politely as I politely let her know that I’m a member of a large online community of well-educated US citizen petitioners, and that we all know that our petitions are backlogged because USCIS has chosen to focus on DACA, and that we’ve all seen approvals of USC petitions filed much later than our own as a USCIS strategy to make their waiting average better.

I also told that I understand that USCIS wants to frame the conversation to label the current waiting time as “normal” in context of their definition, but that there’s nothing “normal” about the wait times, especially for those of us waiting 9+ months. I then told her that I wanted to talk to a Tier 2 to find our exactly what’s going on with my file, and whether it’s actually assigned to someone or buried on a desk.

She transferred me to a Tier 2; the hold time was 114 minutes, and I could hold or choose a callback option. I was assured by the recording that I wouldn’t lose my place in line by choosing the callback option. It was 4:20 pm, and their hours are 8 to 6 so I chose the callback option.

They didn’t call me back of course. I called them back at 8:30 the next morning and after an hour of going twice through a Tier 1 and being transferred to a rude Tier 2 who hung up on me after I asked their name, I finally got to a very kind Tier 2. By that point I was so frustrated that I cried and asked her to please give me a minute to compose myself. She actually tried to soothe me and said she knew it was frustrating, etc. Other than telling me that the worst of the wait time is behind me and that my petition is assigned to an officer, though, I didn’t really learn a lot. When I can take the time, I’ll call again and ask if they can be more specific about the workload of the officer assigned to my petition, and ask if background check etc has even been started.

  5. Sign the petition to ask President Obama to give U.S. Citizens I-130 and I-129 proper priority.

    Link:

    https://petitions.wh...iority/FxWZpJFF

    The petition reads as follows:

"We petition the Obama administration to:

Give US Citizen I-130 & I-129F Petitions Proper Priority

Currently, US citizens are waiting in excess of 10 months for their I-130 and I-129F petitions to be adjudicated, due to a backlog of over 400,000 cases. Asking the spouses, parents, and children of aliens to wait to see their loved ones, while illegal immigrants are quickly granted legal status, is unacceptable and unlawful, as the Immigration and Naturalization Act mandates US authorities to give first priority to the immediate family members of US citizens.

The USCIS must give priority to the applications for legal entry to the spouses, children, and fiance(e)s of US citizens. The USCIS must dictate that each month it will adjudicate a certain percentage of US citizen relative and fiance(e) petitions, as this is the priority which the law demands these petitioners be given."

  8. People who filed in August are just starting to see approvals now, that means at LEAST 3 more months, and that's being optimistic.

I filed at the end of April and still haven't gotten approval. It was transferred to NSC on Dec 5th, otherwise not a peep out 'em. The transfer notification letter implied I should hear something within 60 days which is still a few days away, but I've already started emailing them to ask how much longer it will be delayed, since it's already been NINE MONTHS. My understanding is that they are working on newer ones to make their average waiting time look better, so the folks who filed after I did may have hope for a shorter wait time. I'm apparently part of the backlog that's being ignored for now.

    Good luck to all.

  9. Congratulations! What service center were you transferred to on 12/4? My PD is 5/1 and I was transferred to NSC on 12/5, so I'm encouraged that there are some late April approvals.

So we hit the 9 month mark today and lord behold i get a text message while having my lunch, I almost threw my soda on my boss. Afterwards we all shared a laugh and a good cheers, of course with our soda glasses. Now another waiting game for NVC to process our case. Thank you everyone, your words of encouragement have kept me and my wife going.

    PD 4/29/13
    Transfer to 12/4/13
    Approval 1/29/14

  10. hi guys is any one who got transfered to nsc december 4th got approved yet how long we have to wait i see ppl that got transfered december 22 got approved what s going on it seems that we have bad luck or something thanks

Mine transferred to NSC on Dec 5h and still isn't approved. My understanding is that the Service Centers are approving new ones earlier than older ones, so that they can make their average approval time look better. That doesn't seem very ethical to me, and certainly not an acceptable business practice, but it's apparently not illegal and apparently there's no mechanism to hold them accountable at this point in time. I have a feeling that's going to change. Karma is a bad mother.

  11. I also posted this in the April filers topic, since my PD is April and my NOA1 is May.

My Priority Date is April 29, my NOA1 date is May 1st. This evening I got an email that says:

"On December 3, 2013, we transferred this case I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN to another office for processing and sent you a notice explaining this action. Please follow any instructions provided on the notice. We will notify you by mail when a decision is made. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283. "

WooHoo, finally some movement! I don't know what office it was transferred to - but I'm really really happy to see that it's being touched! I updated the comments in my timeline to note this transfer, didn't see another place to note it.
