I got this quote of law from a friend regarding help from government to battered victims like my self

Benefits granting agencies may verify this using procedures outlined in the"Interim Guidance on Verification of Citizenship, Qualified Alien Status and Eligibility Under Title VI of the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996," AG Order No. 2129-97, 62 Fed. Reg. 61366 (November 17, 1997)."

so do you know what are this granting agents?are they special units in DHS or what?they told me in the special unit that if I am asylee or refugee they would help me.So is VAWA considered asylum or refugee?

I saw that u filed with chicago office.How long did it take u from time it was transfered to chicago office from Vermont?did ur GC "resident from" date shows earlier day than VAWA approval day?

Did they informed you about the reason to deny?

But don't panic. Its not like they'll knock your door the next morning and take you away.

You'll get NOID first > reply to that if possible > then u might get NTA > You'll get some date in next few months to appear before judge > then judge will make decision about yr deportation.

you should file appeal to that decision quickly.Plz change ur lawyer.Vawa success rate is over 70%.This time collect enough documents for the last RFE.I assume they did not have enough evidence for the last RFE they sent you.You can make it this time

has any one got public benefits out of VAWA.I applied twice to medicaid and DHS in Chicago and they denied my application twice.Also I called the 800 number on the VAWA approval and they directed me to charity organizations which said they have no budget for helping VAWA victims.

Please share ur experience regarding getting public benefits like obamacare,foodstamps or others

here is the answer to ur question.u can still file VAWA file based on mental/Emotional abuse but u need documents from judge(like divorce),police ,friends,witnesses,,,etc.you may use local organizations as well

i am in the same boat as u..i am in chicago office..but my application is based on VAWA....can i get infopass to meet the officer so he/she can give me stamp on my passport for green card rather than waiting for my interview date?

Vawavict it means your AOS was filed in July 2011,nothing else.BEcause your wife is a U.S citizen you don't have to wait years to have a visa number available.Wait a few months (2/6)and you will have your interview.

that is exactly my point...my old AOS was filed in July 2011 so I think i should have:

1-very early interview date in Chicago not wait like others

2-GC "resident from" date should be from July 2011 not any later date

Plz correct me if i am wrong

And if these 2 points are right,how i can secure these both rights?

I saw many posts in the forums having "residence since" date is dated as the priority date not the approval date. That is extremely important to speed naturalization. Does anybody know why these people got new GC with "resident from “date which is 2-3 years prior to their approval dates?

My vawa approval has priority date which is July 2011(date of my old I-485) although my VAWA was accepted April 2012...what this means?are other people getting something different?

thank u for ur reply....i belive it is not fair bec if my ex came with me on 11/2011 i would be resident since 11/2011.She abused me and immigration proved that so how I make them consider this bec it is now considered punishment for me and reward for my abused ex.Can we do any thing regarding this?what I can do from my side to speed up the GC process?should i hire a lawyer?should i send them a letter saying that my I-130 priority date on my old application should be transferred to my new I-360?should i call them?

I believe, first you will have an appointment for biometrics and they will run the background test on you again

Than if nothing negative will come up you will get invite for the interview.

Usually it is in a month after biometrics date (in California)

thanks.ok..i had old i-485 filed on july 2011 but my ex never showed up so the case was denied.If i get now my green card will the"resident from" be 2013 according to my new i-485 or 2011 according to my old I-485?
