  1. Fabulous!!

The DoS confirmed in the comment section of that Facebook posting last night that K-1 visas are non immigrant visas, btw

Ok, thanks for that. After 16 months I will only believe I have an immigrant visa once it is actually in my hand.

It does look like the DoS are as good as their word when they say they are only 1 or 2 days behind, as my status changed to 'Issued' on the 6th working day after interview.

It looks like you guys will be fine.

  2. NickB, we did receive that message at first. Today ours got updated to a slightly different message with a new creation date, but still stuck on "Ready". Our interview was the day before yours, so if things are progressing at a steady pace, you should have a new creation date and a slightly different message in a few days. I cannot guarantee it though, I'm just going off what I gathered from previous posts. From then it should (relatively) quickly change to AP and then to Issued. But again, that's only what I gathered from other posts, and should be taken with a grain of salt.

I wonder if the K-1s and CR-1s are getting processed at the same speed?

Thank you for this. I take some comfort from knowing others got this message too, and that it changed relatively quickly. Perhaps the slowdown is not as bad as it first appeared to be.

  4. Have you contacted the Embassy? What does the last status update date show? Since you applied for an immigrant visa, yous is supposed to be priority.... My husband's is next week, I'm nervous!

I e-mailed the embassy yesterday. No response yet.

    My ceac staus is currently 'Ready' with the following message;

Your case is ready for your interview when scheduled at the U.S. Consular section. If you have already scheduled an appointment for an interview, please prepare your documents as directed in your appointment letter and appear at the consulate on the appointed date and time. Otherwise, please wait until you have been notified of your interview appointment. Additional information about how Immigrant Visa interview appointments are scheduled can be found at: http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3731.html

This is strange cos I had the interview on the 23rd. I guess this means that my interview result hasn't been entered onto the system yet.

Did anyone else get this message post-interview?

Yes, immigrant visas are supposed to be a priority though it looks like they are moving slowly right now. Hang in there!

  5. I think the visa issuing depends on where you are. From the sounds of it, some countries were hit much harder than others and I'm sure some countries have more visas to issue than others. Do you know in which countries people have gotten their visas already? The embassy certainly isn't going to tell us anything but maybe we can keep tabs on who is getting or not getting what, and which countries seem to be struggling

Hi AmAjiD, I see you are from the UK too. Are you at the post-interview stage too?

I agree, would be very useful to know who's getting what and where. At least we can see a little movement today so hopefully this won't be another marathon for any of us.

  6. Our interview was on the 14th, approved with no issues. Our CEAC status was updated on the 15th, to Ready. After two weeks with no further updates, I managed to get back into the embassy and get a direct and personal email from embassy staff confirming that our case was in fact approved but waiting on their systems to be fully restored. They mentioned that most services for US citizens were up and running already (as of Friday the 25). Later that afternoon, I got a post-dated CEAC update, still ready but now dated July 24th and still asking is to wait two business days. Then just this morning, another update date of July 30th, still just Ready, and still asking for two more days. I really don't understand how some of us have waited without real explanation for so long, but others who have been interviewed after us have already received their visas? How did they escape the great glitch of '14? Has any else impacted by the delay seen any progress yet showing signs of pending dislodge?

My CEAC status says ready, but also that I need to schedule an interview (i was approved at interview on Jul 23rd.) This contradictory message only confuses things. It seems that CEAC status is not that reliable during the glitch.

I am interested to hear that people are still getting visas during the glitch. Are these immigrant visas do you know? Were they expedited?

  7. I so hope this is the case for you. One of my friends in Portugal had her interview last week and was told today they're unable to do background check due to the system crash (because they haven't checked their background enough by this point?) and cannot tell her when to expect the visa.

Have you tried to contact the Embassy? I wonder if they can give you any insight?

Thank you for your concern and good wishes. I will try submitting an e-mail enquiry to the Embassy, though not over-hopeful of a useful reply. I will post any response I get here.

Background checks after the interview? I thought background checks were completed at the USCIS stage. Anyone know more on this?

Re. your case, hopefully the crash and backlog will be sorted by the time you are planning to fly. Best of luck to you.

  8. The system crashed before then, they just didn't bother to mention it until the 23rd. I'll be watching this space as my husband and I are leaving 11 working days after his interview!!

Ok, so if they are as good as their word, we can expect our visas within 10 days of interview (as this was what I was told, post-crash.). Given my experience of this process though, I will only believe it once the visa is in my hand.

  9. Finally a CR-1 in London! Did they mention anything to you at interview about a delay? My husband's interview is next week. DoS posted an update on Facebook that immigrant and adoption visas are priority, so I wonder (and hope) that our visas are not delayed!

I was told to expect the visa within 10 days and there was no mention of a delay. However, this was on the 23rd, and apparently the system crashed on the 24th (though some reports do say it crashed on the 19th.) I have not heard anything from the embassy since the interview, and my visa is definitely not with the courier yet. I will update here as soon as I have anything.

Seems like we all need to just dig-in for one final wait. Hopefully a short one!

  10. The ds230 is obsolete. They no longer use this form. You must go online and fill out the ds260. The only thing you need to send with your IV documents is the bar coded cover sheet that comes available when you pay the IV fee. As far as the AOS packet, you need to fill out the I 864 and send the bar coded cover sheet that became available when you paid the AOS fee. Nice to see you! I was wondering what happened to you. Good luck my friend!!!! smile.png

Thank you for your helpful reply. I see from your timeline you are almost through NVC too. All the best for the rest of your journey!

  11. Help needed please.

Received AOS payment receipt on March 9th with a letter stating that only those whose NVC case numbers begin with certain three letters need to file the on-line ds260 and send scanned copies of their supporting documents, and that everyone else should file a paper ds230 and send physical copies of their supporting documents.

As my NVC case does not begin with the three letters mentioned I filled out a ds230 and have assembled my physical documents to send to NVC.

However, yesterday my IV payments cleared and I am now instructed by the CEAC website to fill out an on-line ds260.

Would really appreciate it if someone is able to clarify what to do with certainty.

Thank you in advance and all the best with all your journeys.

  12. Hi all. Could anyone tell me categorically how long a uk police certificate is valid for please?

I am a uk citizen with an American spouse so my interview will be at the US embassy in the UK sometime this spring.

My police certificate was issued in May 2013 so I am needing to know if it will still be valid for my interview.

Thanks in advance and good luck to you all with your interviews.

  13. Our I-130 was approved on Dec 10th. Today we got this e-mail saying the application has been shipped to the Dept of State. Anyone know why they didn't say NVC, or does it mean the same thing? Thanks and good luck with all your applications.

Application Type: I130 , IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN Your Case Status: Post Decision Activity On December 13, 2013, we shipped this approved or re-affirmed case to the Department of State for visa processing. .......
