  1. It says right on the NVC website you need a long form birth certificate. ( here is the link, just click on birth certificate http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/submit/documents-to-submit-to-nvc.html) You can go to the service canada website,( here is the link http://www.servicecanada.gc.ca/eng/subjects/cards/birth_certificate.shtml ) Pay $35 and fill out the info and it will be delivered to your home within 5 days. I had to order mine and it has a lot of information about parents and siblings and so forth. It is needed or you will get checklisted and prolong your time away. I offered them my little blue birth certificate, and they didn't even want to see it. It had to be the original. I had everything with me and then copies for everyone in the office. Better to be safe then sorry, you now have the tools to get it, its worth having, and good luck.

  2. Hello, I would like to share some information with you about life near the Great Lakes. I live smack dab right in the middle of them in Ontario Canada. As you may not know about the lay of the land and the options you have right at your finger tips.

WI is located right on 2 of the best lakes for fishing. I am not sure what you enjoy fishing for, but Lake Superior and Lake Michigan have some of the largest and meanest and tastiest fish. You have the options of Salmon, Pike, sturgeon, trout I could go on for months about the wonderful fish located in these waters.

Here is a link to help you see the goodness of the Great Lake Fishing.

Now about the landscape. It is not the Alps. By far. But what does offer is Maple trees that change from September to November. The most wonderful and riches colors you may ever see. Also It offers large rolling hills and bed rock that is so old and the history of the ice age shows in the land. The wildlife is outstanding, moose, elk, black bears, cougars, mink and so much more. The fog in the mornings is thick and the winters are so cold and covered in snow that you may feel like you are in the Alps. It is breathtaking and beautiful and the smell of spring and life growing is not something a lot of people think about when they think about relocation.

I understand your feelings, I am leaving all of this life ( only on the Canada side, same wildlife, same fish, same trees) to go to live in Florida with the man of my dreams. I now face a whole new world full of alligators, panthers, snakes, bugs the size of my hands and lizards everywhere. It is like Jurassic Park to me.I will not be setting up my tent to go camping when I live for fear of the that something will kill me while i sleep. Yet I welcome all of it because the man I love is worth it. So I remind myself that Canada will always be here, it is my roots, my home, my history. My husband and our life in Jurassic Park is new and fun and lots to learn about and best of all, I get to be with the one that knows the song to my soul.

It may not feel like your norm, but you are going to be enchanted by the land and the people and the seasons and I think when the times comes for us ( husband and I to move) we will go north because as long as I have maple trees, My soul is at ease.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask and best wishes!!!

  3. Hey Girl, I feel your pain. I am located in the middle of Ontario, in a town with a population of 1000. It is hard to be away from the one you love. I know how you feel when every one around you has their spouse and you are with out yours. Things I do to pass the time are, reading, watching movies, when it is not Polar vortex out i walk and enjoy winter turning into spring. We live in Florida and it is summer there all year round. So i am getting my fill of the great north. Oh I go and have a Tim hortons coffee, sweet Timmies. I have taken up painting, and crafting and doing something that will keep my mind busy. I am also quitting smoking so that is hard too. Just do all the things you can do while your here since once you are gone and back there, you will not have Tim Hortons, or harveys, or seasons, or EH. Visit with friends and family and have a good time.

I have been apart from my husband for 6 months, we missed Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, our 1 year anniversary, his birthday and my birthday. He works a lot, we are trying to save money and pay down debts and get ahead , so visits are not really an option and and we know we will be together forever once this is done. I have told my friends and family that I will not be coming back for a long time since I have been here for so long, I just want to be with the one I love. I look at it this way : everyday away from him, brings me 1 day closer to being home. write letters, remind yourself and him why you got married and how much you guys love each other, You can send a letter for $1.10 and that is how people rolled before the internet and phone.

    Best wishes and good luck.

  4. We are Nebraska Filers as well (12/30/2013) I check it 2 times a day. And today it went from 8.5 months to 9 months. I am watching timelines and waiting. But I am not sure what is going on with the Immigration paper work and all the naturalization that has been going on. We ( meaning all of us on Visa Journey) are doing this the legal way and have to wait 9 months to even have our cases looked at? Does that 9 months include if they need to Request more evidenceor is that from the time they get the I130 and by the time we get to be in our loved ones arms or just for USCIS to transfer it from Nebraska to NVC then to the local consulate for our interview? I know all of us just want to go and be with the ones we love, it is just so hard to wait and not have any kind of timeline base it on. I am in Canada, and this winter has been very cold, very snowy and nothing would make me happier then to just cuddle up to my Husband to get a good night sleep.
