Ex-wife attained US citizenship before divorce was even filed.

I am a US citizen recently divorced. I want to apply for a K-1 for my fiance. She tells me she will get denied because my previous marriage was in the philippines. Can anyone tell me of a similar case where this has or has not happened? And possibly what other options may we have short of getting an annulment.
I have asked a lawyer and they assured me that it would not affect the K-1 but I would like to cover all bases.

Yes the divorce took two years and we had been seperated for three years
I guess what i'm really tring to find on here has anyone ever heard of someone with the same circumstances and did it effect the K-1 visa
i know I dont fall under the IMBRA because its been more then two years its been 10 years.
Its really what my Fiance has told me she has heard in the Philippines from friends and from the radio.
