Does any one has idea for how to get SSN after spouse comes in USA?

Has anyone spouse already came to USA? and how is the process of getting SSN? Do we have to go in person to Social Security Administration in person for starting the process?

Visit to local SS office if you didn't select the check box "Share your information with social Security" on DS-260.

That's what I am thinking. Call Local SS office and start from there.

Wife stand in line 11:15 at new delhi. Interview time 12:15 .

Security received a token number.

Wait and go the counter.

Indian officer

Medical, passport , pcc , ds260 stamped.

Received by officer.

Questions

1. What's your name?

2. Your husband name?

3. Where you met him last time ?

4. How many days he stayed with you last time.

5. Child name and his date of birth.

That's all. Told my wife have to wait.

She waited, 2pm wife asked another girl working there same instructions have to wait. long wait but no one else called her. Time now 5 pm. Time to close offuce. Some another indian officer came in asked her are you still here.he check the file again and got little mad on first officer because case was approved and he didn't tell to my wife. This officer feel sorry and gave yellow copy and other instructions to wife how to deposit 165$ before travel to US.

Well long wait but it's worth.

Well I try to find out the answer every where different threads. Lack of information about this topic. Just heard postpone the oath ceremony , but no one tell what reason should I have to give USCIS.

I am going to write down my experience . May be it will help some one in near future.

F2A CC Jan,27,2014. Waiting for interview letter.

F2A interview schedule for April,08,2014.

USC oath letter received for FEB,28,2014.

Write down a request to local office to postpone oath ceremony . " REASON : IF I TOOK OATH THEN MY NEW BORN WILL GOING TO LOSE STATUS UNDER DERIVATIVE VISA."

March,23,2014 again received oath ceremony letter for April,04,2014.

write down another request with the same reason. this time USCIS sent me a letter . Saying that the above date April,04,2014 oath ceremony is cancelled due to "UNFORESEEN CIRCUMSTANCES" .

Today April,08,2014 wife visa approved. Ready for oath now.

where finger prints get done they stamed the ds-260 .

Here we are. APRIL IS HERE START INTERVIEW S. PLEASE SHARE AND UPDATE EACH OTHERS.

Called your embassy and asked them.

Go online and pay your aos $88 and another $ 230 fee for further process

Did you receive the case complete email?

You can still send the baby original birth certificate to nvc so they can add it to your case and submit ds-260 for baby and pay visa fee for that. Call NVC and explain it. Because if your wife go to interview still CO will ask you to submit ds 260 and pay fee online and may be give you another interview date.

As your AOS is not complete or you have low income . Find some cosponsor because now you have baby too check the poverty guidelines for that. If you don't meet the requirements gind a cosponsor.

Yeah to be on safer side I will carry 2013 tax return. but do i also have to carry updated I-864?

no you don't need to update I-864. If something like that then they have to explain in Interview letter "Bring your latest tax return with updated I-864" .

So, don't worry and just follow the instructions from letter. just take 2013 tax return on safer side.

Bring updated Federal income tax information to the interview. If a sponsor filed an I-864 (Affidavit of Support) and provided the NVC with proof of an IRS Federal income tax extension in lieu of a Federal income tax return, bring the sponsor's most recent Federal income tax return to the visa interview.

That's wht says in my interview letter. Yes April 15 is the last date but officer can ask why your spouse don't file tax yet or can ask submit your tax return and delay your case

when is ur CC?mine is 3/18/2014.under mumbai consulate.

My interview is on April 8. hopefully you will get interview letter on March 27, after 4 pm. for May interview.
