  1. It happens that's why when you file your AOS, you've to consider the application process. Like when you filed in April, you should've considered the 6-month process for waived in case your interview is waived and yours is.

In marital assets, you can just submit a joint account, state ID, if you have. It's alright not to have lots of it since we just got married.

    Thank your for the advice!!

  2. Hello,

I am an early April filer. The last notification we had until yesterday was in July when they sent a letter saying my case was a potential interview waiver case and that there could be a 6 month delay from the date of the letter.

Yesterday we received a RFE letter in the mail. It is asking for us to send a I-693 and vaccination supplement. It is also asking for joint marital asset evidence (joint lease/insurance policies/joint bank account/joint tax return/joint utility bills.) We have 30 days in which to get everything they've requested back to them.

Firstly, the letter offers up no information as to why the I-693 is required. I had my medical in England in Sep 2014 and we filed the AOS in April 2015 - which is under a year. Potentially, my vaccination form is not sufficient which I could understand; am i correct in thinking this should not require the full medical to be redone but only certain sections of the I-693?

Secondly, the only "joint assets" we have are a joint bank account and car insurance policy. We have been unable to put me on the lease agreement and it was too expensive to go on one another's health insurance. I am concerned that we do not have sufficient evidence, especially as the letter seems to me to place heavy emphasis on a joint lease/mortgage.

Thirdly, the letter was sent from the Royal Palm Beach, Florida office. I have no idea how the processing of I-485's are distributed out among USCIS offices, but we live in New Jersey. Does anyone know if this is something to be concerned about?

My online case status still says 'On April 7 2015 we accepted the fingerprint fee for your form I-485'. When I did the automated case status on the telephone, it informed me my case was pending and had been sent to the Lee's Summit, Missouri service office.

I called USCIS this morning. I asked the lady why I am being requested to do another medical. She told me that as my medical from England is a year old, I need to do another one. I told her that was contradictory to the instructions for the I-693 form on the USCIS website. She said the one year validity was a new rule. I told her the automated case status seems to be faulty as my status says pending in Missouri, when it actually appears to currently be in Florida - she had no response other than to say I must do what any letter from USCIS tells me to do.

I know that I don't have much choice but to get the I-693 and send back as much supporting evidence as we can within the 30 days they've given us. I was mainly hoping someone has had a similar experience or could offer up some comforting advice!

    Thanks.

  3. Hello. We got our NOA1 at the end of December. I (the benficiary) recently changed address so I sent a letter to USCIS to notify them of it a couple of weeks ago. Today, my fiance phoned to check they had received it and to also see how our petition is going. He waited on hold for a while and then got through to someone who looked at our case. I think they'd received my letter and she made the change to my address.

She said our case was progessing just fine and they are in the process of doing the background checks. As my fiance has lived in several states over the last few years, she said this could take a little while. She told him that background checks take 4 months and that it will be another couple of months for everything to be done, so June. Which is over the 5 months.

So not great news, but it was reassuring to know they are actually doing something with our petition and it hasn't been forgotten about!
