  1. My husband received his green card on July 15. Almost 10 months after filing to the day.

Have people actually said this (that they want green card and not EAD) in the job seeking process? That's BS.

Yes he has been turned down for numerous jobs when they call him because he has the EAD. They always ask him if he has his green card or if he's a US citizen.

And then they say "I am sorry, we're looking to hire people who have their green cards or they're a US citizens. Good luck with your search!"

  2. Congratulations to everyone who have received their green cards!

I've been busy and trying to get situated with things especially with work. Good news is that I had a little promotion for my position at the DMV. Yes I work at the DMV, and NO I am not mean. But I also have an interview tomorrow with Social Security for a job position. It's weird working in a field where you deal with some of the same paper work that Immigration requires to process things for.

Anyways I got the dreaded interview waiver form from USCIS since Feb 2015. Maybe I think because I was with my husband at the time of his K-1 interview visa and maybe that was sufficient. But who knows. But our local office is Los Angeles office and me and my husband notice that they are processing Oct 2014 cases. And we filed in Sept 2014. We're like what the heck? We're out of the normal processing time. So I called today and of course I pressed on to speak to an Immigration Officer. As a matter of fact they're suppose to call me back soon.

So Hopefully. Fingers crossed that solves it.

Sadly my husband wants to work and nobody takes him seriously with an EAD card. They want a green card.

Times are hard for us! But we're managinging to get by.

Welcome letter mailed as of yesterday! finally. YAYAYAAAAY! Lets see if they send it to the correct address.....

Yay! I am so happy for you! I was rooting for you. Glad that's over for you.

  3. HI there. Your timeline is exactly ours. Our current status is also exactly like yours. We have inquired. We have had our congressman inquire (due to job requiring travel to canada....aka need that green card). The response that USCIS gave our congressman (they didn't give us any of this information even though we inquired) was that while we are a potential interview waiver case, my husband's case is currently still pending the security checks. My assumption is that once the security checks clear then the online status will change to "ready for interview" even if they plan to waive our interview.

All that to say, your status and timeline is not abnormal. We are in that boat with you.

Glad to know that there are a few people in the same boat. Maybe I should contact my congresswoman.

I am from LA, I checked the processing time and they're still at the end of June. :(

It sucks because my husband wants to work soo badly but most of these damn companies only want a person who is a green card holder or US citizen ... they don't like people with Work permit cards.

  4. You have to call them, maybe they waived your interview.

Yes I think I will call them. Perhaps our interview has been waived.

Last time for the K1 visa process there was a computer glitch and I called the customer service hotline because I was wondering why was everyone getting approved so fast when I didn't hear anything, and I filed earlier or around the same time as some people. I called that stupid customer service number and they said nothing was wrong, etc. But than out of no where I got a letter from the National Visa center that my I129 F was forward to the Seoul US Embassy. I called them back and they apologize.

*sigh* Just hope to hear some good news.

  5. Hi everyone ... am new this thread but not a new poster.

Congratulations to those who received their Green Cards.

I filed for AOS for my husband in the beginning of September, National Benefits Center received our application Sept 8, 2014. Then my husband got his EAD Combo card mid Oct.

Now we're just waiting ... and it's been a long wait and not a peep from USCIS.

Should I be worried or just keep waiting? There has been no RFE ... I tripled checked all the paperwork before mailing it out the applications.

And when I check USCIS site it just says about our case:

On September 10, 2014, we accepted the fingerprint fee for your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status, Receipt Number MSC**********. Our National Benefits Center location is working on your case. We mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

    What actions should I take?

  6. I just wanted a solid answer but couldn't find one at all in terms of joint sponsors and the forms to fill out.

I did a search and some of the replies were conflicting and got me confused.

I am trying to complete the paperwork for my husband's Adjustment Of Status.

I just recently got a job with the DMV after a long period of unemployment, but don't start until Monday, so as of now, no income coming in. I want to complete the AOS paperwork so my husband can work and get the whole nine yards (EAD, re-entry permit, Green Card). Of course I have no income right now and my dad is willing to be a joint sponsor.

Information about my dad: He doesn't claim me, we live in the same household, makes enough to sponsor me.

I file my own taxes, claiming myself. :)

Does my Dad needs to fill out a I-864 or an I-864A?

    Thank you so much!

  7. Lovely news, all in all. smile.png Congrats on getting approved.

Me, I'm still waiting for the court paperwork to come through. I've received Packet 3 but can't really do anything until the court gives a final decision on my case... (custody issues, in case you're wondering).

Thank you! Well I hope you get those court paper work settled ... can't wait to hear your good news soon! :D

  8. I'm kind of curious what your experience while waiting at a USCIS field office was like before your interview. Let's face it. Most of them are straight (i.e., heterosexual) couples. We (same-sex couples) are still new to this. So I know we should expect to be stared at. Did you feel strange or uncomfortable before, during, or after the interview at a USCIS office?

Hi ... we had our interview today (but this applies to US Embassy interview), so my fiancé was nervous and Korea is a very conservative country, especially when it comes to issues about same-sex marriages and relationships. So of course while waiting we got a lot of curious stares etc.

I felt at the interview they were being a little bit more cautious with us and treated us differently than the other applicants that were being interviewed. We were not offered an option to conduct the interview in Korean or English.

I thought once again we were the first same sex couple applicants being interviewed for Korea, but we were not the first one. smile.png

    So don't fret ... be truthful! smile.png

  9. We had our visa interview today this morning and we are APPROVED! dancin5hr.gif

I am glad this process for the most part is finally over! smile.png

My fiancé was so nervous and the immigration officer that was interviewing us was such a liar, telling us he doesn't know how to speak Korean. We didn't have the option for my fiancé to do his interview in Korean. He was hoping the interview would be conducted in Korean and would feel more comfortable, since of course English is not my fiancé's first language. And there was another man watching us behind the immigration officer who was conducting the interview. I wanted to call him out on lying to us that he didn't know Korean because he was the ONLY officer interviewing all the visa applicants (because the US Embassy in Seoul is not so busy), not just fiancé visas but interviewing for other visas where some applicants didn't know any English at all.

But all that aside, he asked like irrelevant questions from the normal interview, asking me if I had met my fiancé's family etc. I had to chime in and answer some questions and was being asked questions. I thought I would be watching from the sidelines and Mr. Choi would be answering. I don't know if they were treating us differently because we were a same sex case and they didn't believe our case ... but through that ordeal Mr. Choi's fiancé visa has be approve. smile.png

I asked the immigration officer that was interviewing us if we were the first same sex K-1 visa approved and surprisingly he said we were not the first one. Makes me happy that their are others who are paving the wave for us.

    SO HAPPY!

Can't wait for tonight we are going to have an engagement dinner party with our close friends in Korea and can't wait to share the good news with them. Sadly going back home to LA on Sunday and I will see him soon in June, when he finally moves to the US.

Thank you for your help and guidance everyone! May I wish you guys a fast and speedy process for your visa interviews and process. smile.png

    감사합니다! ^.^

  11. Congratulations to those who had their visas approved and what not, sorry I've been MIA.

I am in Korea now to celebrate my anniversary with my fiancé and also to accompany him to his visa interview at the US Embassy in Seoul in a few hours.

Nervous and excited at the same time, excited that this process is ALMOST over. :)

Better get some shut eye ... gotta get up in 4 hours.

  12. Hi everyone ... congrats to those who got their NOA2 so far.

SparklePony ... I hope you get yours approved soon, you've been a great amount of help to everyone on this forum. Good things come to those who wait. :)

Me and the fiancé have our interview date for the US Embassy in Seoul, March 14. Will continue to update.

Sad thing though is I lost my job this past month. Been looking for a job, it's been a tough job market in LA. But I have hopes and not only that I have a friend stepping up as co-sponsor for my K-1 Visa. :) So thankful for good friends.

I really hope all of you get your petitions approve, especially all of you Texas Service Center people. :D
